Oh also, this video was done live, in one take (no digital cut and paste or special effects), and Mix Master Mike provided the entire mix with using one record. Truly a phenomenal talent, this whole group!
This was the later 90s,./ They started in 1979 as 2 punk bands (The new Aboriginies/The young and the useless) that switched over to complete rap and changed their name by 1981. The first rap group to sell a platinum album (Run DMC and the Fat boys both stuck just under a million back in 1985 when the Beasties hit it big with SHE"S ON IT from the movie KRUSH GROOVE SOUNDTRACK. Mixmaster Mike. Tan----Michael Diamond (Mike D) Green-----King Adrock (Adam Horowitz) and dark shirt-- MCA---(Adam Yauch). Yauch was from Brooklyn heights, and Horowitz and Diamond grew up on Manhattans lower east village. Rap was struggling in 1986 to make any money yet, most of America not listening at all. The Beastie Boys did for rap what Elvis did for rock. They took it from their cultural area, that was very diverse, and introduced it the the "white, mainstream and mainstreet Americans". By adding familiar rock riffs with strong beats, and clever and funny lyrics, bands like Public Enemy, and artists like LL Cool J ended up having a career. (They got LL his big shot)
This is what happen when Punk turn to HipHop. Magic... 49 here still listening since i am 15. My sons love then, The Beastie Boys are Legend not just a boy Band.
This video is from the 1998 album "Hello Nasty". They started out in the early 80s as a hardcore punk band, and then started experimenting with hip hop, for fun. They witnessed the birth of it in NYC and were inspired. First album 1986's Licensed to Ill. They have a lot of tapes and every one of them is different. They sometimes record themselves playing instruments, and make loops out that to rap over. But, they are known for creating the most sample-heavy album of all time, called "Paul's Boutique". Every album is it's own thing. Sometimes they rock, sometimes they're funky, sometimes they chill. But, they are always hip-hop. Btw, this song is in honour of their DJ, Mix Master Mike, featured in the video. Props.
Dude I'm sick of people too...... But luckily I just turned 50 and I was lucky enough to start listening to whatever music I want to do at whatever age...... Thanks to my mom❤........ Anyway keep asking questions I think everybody already answered most of them
Green: Ad Rock Purple: MCA Tan: Mike D The thing about the Beastie Boys that's so unique by today's standards is they are super talented AND don't take themselves too seriously. Please check out So Whatcha Want, Sabotage, Sure Shot, and Root Down. You won't regret it
Why’s everybody so rude? That’s New York. People there pulled out their phones recently and filmed a woman burn to death on the subway just last week. That’s New York.
ridiculous. theres all kinds of people in NYC & you are stereotyping. The rudeness at the door was because inhabitants of locked buildings with intercoms dont typically let strangers enter. Mixmaster mike was lucky to get in at all.
