This video was top notch. Very good quality. One of the best videos I've seen on Sunshine. We're heading there next week. This video was exactly what I was looking for to get a great detailed look at the resort. Thanks.
Thanks Scott! I love skiing all the great resorts and it usually takes me days to figure out the mountain... I'm hoping this helps people enjoy the ski resorts more by knowing where they want to ski. After I filmed the video, I skied there a lot more and one day I rode the lift up with one of the resort managers. She gave me a tip that I didn't know before - If you are skiing a weekend or holiday, start at the mid station and then work your way up to the main base area. She said everyone goes to the top first and it can get crowded on weekends, but if you start at mid station (Wolverine and Goat's Eye) you are opposite what most people do because they finish there. Have a great trip! Take care! James Duke
@@ChrisCurvey Thank you! Very much appreciate you watching & commenting. We have big skiing plans this year: Canada (Kimberly, Silver Star, and Castle); Montana (Big Sky) Most of the Idaho Resorts; Colorado (Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk, Winter Park); Utah (Snowbird, Park City, and Powder Mtn); Switzerland (St Moritz); Italy (Val Gardena and Cortina). Again, thank you for watching the videos! Sincerely, James Duke
Me too! I miss the Canadian Rockies. Picked up another Camera for the Alps ;-). Plan to have 5 for Vallée Blanch, and possibly the drone depending on ridge winds.
Great video. Me and my son have season passes and you did a great job showing off the village. One little tip I tell people is that Standish or Angel always open early on the weekend so we always start at the village and will get in 3-5 runs before 9. We stay at the village till at least 10 then head down to Goatseye till noon and then go back to Tee Pee while people are eating lunch. We usual leave by 2 and my sons app says we have skied more then 50km. Sunshine is the best resort in the Banff area.
Thank you! I love Sunshine Village. It’s been my favorite for a couple years now. I’m at Zermatt, Switzerland skiing now and I have to say this is now my favorite place in the world!
Awesome you got to ski the big 3! What are some of the most scenic Europe ski resorts? I was super impressed with Zermatt and Chamonix, but I’m looking for other must see and ski resorts.
We might have been there close to the same time! We had to winterize the camper and just use the Campground shower house. After we left Banff it stayed cold because we went to Castle Mountain and had delayed openings each day because of temperatures.
Years ago, my sister was a lifty at Sunshine and she told me that it got it's name sarcastically; supposedly one time way back when, the sun never came out for over a month, or was it two, so they named it Sunshine Village. Absolutely false advertising. I do know that when it is overcast, you don't see much up there.
Would have been nice to see images under the Goats eye chair…best lift for experienced skiers that like steep runs and moguls! But overall a nice video!
Thank you! Agree I should have included more of the significant terrain under Goat’s Eye. It had been so dry for so long when I made the video that I just couldn’t bring myself to ski it. Appreciate the comment!
@@pat13487 For sure! We’ve realized we can’t ski all the resorts in North America and Europe in our lifetime, and hope our videos will help people pick the best resorts for their desires - scenery, terrain, etc.
Of the “Big 3” Sunshine is the least popular! Yup, lots of great snow that lasts for a long time but too many flats to skate-ski (if you’re a boarder lots of walking) and way too much wind. However, it is better than nothing.
I think your comments are spot on! I hear from most people they like Lake Louise way better. For me personally, less popular and lighter lift lines combined with all the scenery makes it my favorite resort in North America! Zermatt though is my favorite place in the world (so far) - significantly more impressive scenery and insane vertical. We are skiing Kitzbuhel now and Italy’s Dolomites next week - in search of the most scenic resorts. Appreciate you watching and commenting! Sincerely, James Duke
As I recall the owner of Sunshine fired his on hill leadership for busting the owners son for ducking a rope into avalanche terrain. Would you really pay to ski at an area that places more importance on letting the owner's son violate closures, than listening to the vast experience of his paid staff? I know I sure wouldn't!
Only a fool would allow behind the scenes politics keep them from skiing a particular resort. If anything it shows that the resort has an able, caring, and ethical patrol and safety team. Anyway, if safety is your concern don't go out of bounds at ANY resort. Sunshine has a GREAT safety record for a mountain that has been in operation for nearly a century. Your loss...and for a really stupid reason.

Luv Sunshine Village! Great skiing!
I skied here so many times 35 years ago when I loved in Banff Best years of my life !
Hope the video brought back good memories! Every time we are in Banff (summer or winter) it’s the best time ever! :-)
How do people ski in Banff its way to cold there
I love your videos! I watch them while I'm on the exercise machine. I want you to go skiing more often.

Great video! You do make a good use of the Insta360 x3. The Ski Resort looks fantastic too. Thanks.
Thank you! Good times!
No people. Crazy. I thought there is no such a place without lines anymore. Thanks for sharing!
It is amazingly not crowded each time I ski there! I do only ski weekdays, but still - this is the least crowded of any of the big resorts I visit.
We ski on Sundays and it is busier but you have no problem finding quiet areas. Except at Christmas. Don’t go at Christmas 😂
@@paulwestenberger3710 Christmas seems to bring crowds to every ski resort!
Another superb video. Makes me want to go back even though I was just there!

Ya, excellent work

I was there in January (2023) from the UK, 100% worth it!! Make the trip however dont just get stuck in Sunshine, visit all of the big3!!

I turned up there a few years ago and it was minus 42°. We went there 4 days and never saw the sunshine 😂😂😂. Good skiing though.

Chevy is likely better off. We miss him. Great manager!
SUNSHINE IS GOOD BUT LAKE LOUISE IS FAR BETTER.
I can see that thought for sure! I like them both! Thanks for watching.
I love both, but Louise definitely gets icier. And I’m from New York. I know ice!
