The rule says tight enough pants to see the shape of the leg for men, and no pants for women to see the shape of the leg.... I agree with the sport judges need to "see" those details, it is an artistic sport where the shape and placement of the boby is very important. What I say is to let the choice of the outfit to the athlete as long as the "we need to be able to see if the leg is not bending" rule is respected. I even think some women gymnasts competed with leggings not so long ago.... But I don't know if it made the federation change the outfit rules... Got to chek that!

I'm guessing it's more because Women tend to be a lot more flexible then men, particularly the hip section and hamstrings, so more range of motion and less obstruction. Guys just tend not to be as flexible in that areas. Of course, I still think that women should be allowed to wear pants.

I remember watching volleyball, both women & men's. The men played first wearing full volleyball gear (idk how you call it, i don't play) from knees, to elbows. Meanwhile after the men's tournament, the women played next. They were literally wearing tight booty shorts. I asked one of the couches *who's a man* and is also in charge of the uniforms, he said that it was so the women would "look good" while playing. I felt so bad for the girls because they constantly had to pull their shorts down and they looked visibly uncomfortable. Also, almost all of the girls had bruises and such, which I know is normal, but could've been avoided if they just let them wear safety gear and the same uniform as the guys.

Growing up watching the Olympics I swear gymnastics was possibly my favorite category to watch, it was so intense and fascinating. It always amazed me how these athletes trained and were able to be so eloquent and graceful.

I remember watching volleyball, both women & men's. The men played first wearing full volleyball gear (idk how you call it, i don't play) from knees, to elbows. Meanwhile after the men's tournament, the women played next. They were literally wearing tight booty shorts. I asked one of the couches *who's a man* and is also in charge of the uniforms, he said that it was so the women would "look good" while playing. I felt so bad for the girls because they constantly had to pull their shorts down and they looked visibly uncomfortable. Also, almost all of the girls had bruises and such, which I know is normal, but could've been avoided if they just let them wear safety gear and the same uniform as the guys.

I always did my gymnastics in tight shorts, and never did any of my tournaments using long pants. But yeah those long pants make our ass look thicker and our legs more aesthetically pleasing. Thats seriously one of the reasons why.

Growing up watching the Olympics I swear gymnastics was possibly my favorite category to watch, it was so intense and fascinating. It always amazed me how these athletes trained and were able to be so eloquent and graceful.

It’s not that I wondered why the uniform is the way it is it’s that I wondered why the uniform is different for the different genders if you understand what I’m saying. Like why are women’s uniforms so much more revealing or shorter than male uniforms. Like males can wear basketball shorts or leggings whereas females have to wear leotards or short shorts.

My older brother used to do gymnastics and quit when he was about 15 to start doing acrobatics. I remember going to some of his meets as a kid and watching him use all this equipment or even being able to try it myself a few times. Your videos really take me back! :)
