What Problems My Children Solve In Philippine School

  • My children have been attending a Filipino school for a month and a half now, and during this time we've faced various challenges and successes. They’re starting to understand how classes are conducted and are adapting to new languages and cultural nuances. In this video, I share the first results of their learning journey, what comes easy for them, and what difficulties they are encountering. How are the kids adjusting to life in the Philippines and what skills have they already mastered in this time?

Try to find a podcast that talks about the topics your kids like. It will help them get used to listening in English and hopefully will help them.

Children learn fast but just don't force them if they still don't learn anything, it will come in time. Just encourage them to continue and be patient with learning the language. Maybe you tube can help them learn faster.😊

Please give Kostya time. I remember my teacher's wide, angry eyes when I was in Grade 1 because I couldn't read, to being in Top 10 when I was in Grade 2, to being the teacher's pet when I was in Grade 3.

Valentina, request to the teacher that your kids, especially Kostya, be sitted in front so that they can focus better in learning the English & Filipino languages.
You can tutor them in English but they also need a local to teach them the Filipino language. How can they read the instructions on their test papers if they do not know how to read Tagalog or Bisaya? Maybe some of the local teachers are willing to tutor part time?
Before enrolling in a public school in Samal, were your kids enrolled in a Russian online school? If they show little progress in their school in Samal i think they should go back to Russian online just like Jelena's kids, or else they might get left behind too far by other children their age.

the most important thing in learning language is the speaking. if you always do the writing, listening and reading without speaking it's quite useless. you unable to speak with someone cause you would not do practicing in speaking.. I learned English without mentor or other people cause I spoke by my own self. even little bit disgusting but it's effective. that's my strategy

Valentina, it will take time for a non English speakers to learn English especially if they are learning it to a non English speaking country because the people doesn't speak it all the time. It's better if you teach them at home or used an app like Duolingo to learn it. If you will just rely it to the teacher then you will see a slow progress especially for Kotsya.
Kids using the cellphone or mobile phones here doesn't have any time limit (well, it depends on their parents but what I have noticed is that children here used cellphone whenever they want) 🤣 but in my opinion, yes, 1 hour is already enough. It's still much better to play outside than play with phones.

MIsha snitching to their mom how Kostya is just copying what his doing jajaja🤣
i also agree with what MIsha said about how his younger brother should ask the teacher for help but perhaps Kostya lacks the confidence to ask the teacher because of language barrier .
I hope the teacher is patient with these two boys 🙂

It would really be difficult for them to learn since they do not understand the language and I don't think public school teachers will take the extra mile to translate the lessons.
If you have the means, it would be better to enroll in a private school. They are a lot better than public schools. Choose the one which accepts foreign students.
Going to the library and borrowing picture books and English and Filipino books for beginners will be of great help. You may also use flash cards.
Try teaching them yourself the basic. Start with sounds, incorporating the first letter of an object to a particular picture. Proceed with phrases and sentences.
If they can't have actual tutorials, find apps for kids. Use the one hour for learning rather than playing games. There are a lot of games they can play without using the phone like patintero, tumbang preso, taguan etc. They would learn to socialize with the kids at the same time, they would be active physically which would be good for their health.
You can also make games too which would let them learn like spelling games, translating game etc. Use your imagination.
Maybe you can also have a notebook and list words you can teach them for the day like days of the week, names of fruits, vegetables, etc.
Review the lessons at home that were taught in school. Translate it to Russian. Just google it if you can't translate.
I'm sure your kids will learn the language soon. My classmates were foreigners when I started school and the teacher just leaves a recording in class which we would listen to. Make your kids have the habit of reading books.
For conversation, here are some common questions which are commonly asked in English and Filipino:
    English: What is your name?
    Filipino: Ano ang pangalan mo?
    English: Where do you live
    Filipino: Saan ka nakatira?
    English: How old are you?
    Filipino: Ilang taon ka na?
    English: Why are you here?
    Filipino: Bakit ka nandito?
    English: Who are your parents
Filipino: Sino ang mga magulang mo?
I hope you learned some new sentences for today.

Kostya should not sit beside Motya in school. Even when doing their homework don't make them do it side by side because Kostya will not learn if he just copies what Misha is doing. Tell him he will repeat his kindergarten if he does not learn anything. That means he will no longer have Misha beside him next school year. Copy the schedule of students so you need not ask daily. Next school year attend the school orientation before the start of the school year. Parents are also required in the beautification of the classrooms before the start of the school year in public schools. The teachers in public schools usually pass all of their students even if the student did not learn anything. I have 2 nephews who learned to speak good english by watching Pipa the Pig. In their school most of the students speak english and they have good english speaking teachers in the private school. The teacher of Kostya and Misha is okay. She makes the children dance before the start of the class to make the students more alert.
