It's kinda bananas or maybe bandannas. Vocab: fais-do-do is a Cajun music and dance party, and samba no pé is a sort of tap dance version of samba.
Lyrics
As the sun sets in the hills, the mournful whippoorwill, marks the hour: her evening call rings
And as the twilight fades, AnnaLee stands at the gate, oh and she yodels… and she sings:
Yo-delo-delay-hee oh yo-delay-ho, come home, oh you doggies come home
Yo-delo-delay-hee oh yo-delay-ho, come home all you doggies and lay you down oh woe
Come home, oh you doggies, and lay you down
Coquina is brown like the coconuts down in the islands where she was born
She’s lost a step, so they say, she’s put the mambo away and now she shuffles a waltz in the corn
Blanco is butter white with patches of night, they’re his family tree’s roots showing through
Taps his feet, shooing flies, though a few might recognize the Samba no pay he once knew
Ben-wah is just as black as the muck way on back in the bayou where he comes from
Back then he’d fay-doe-doe to the zydeco now he’s a-sleeping on his feet in the sun
Yo-delo-delay-hee oh yo-delay-ho, come home, oh you doggies come home
Yo-delo-delay-hee oh yo-delay-ho, come home all you doggies and lay you down oh woe
Come home, oh you doggies, and lay you down
At Heritage Hill, at six or quarter ‘til, the day shift clock out and dim the lights
In comes AnnaLee, she’ll be working ‘til three, just a-settling them down for the night
Helps them out of their clothes, gives their last daily dose, and tidies up all their things
And as they wait for sleep to come, she works up through a hum, and she yodels, and she sings:
Yo-delo-delay-hee oh yo-delay-ho, come home, oh you doggies come home
Yo-delo-delay-hee oh yo-delay-ho, come home all you doggies and lay you down oh woe
Come home, oh you doggies, and lay you down oh woe
Come home, oh you doggies, and lay you down
Nice!
