Privateer hands down. I want to manage a safe harbor somewhere in zero security space that offers fuel and food to everyone, protected by it's neutrality and tolerated by the forces that be. Kind of like a freeport in EVE Online.
More like a Freeport in Freelancer, as you can operate in unknown deep space, outside of civilized space or even deep within Vanduul Space. A welcome ship for farming Vanduul fighters. ;-) Keep in mind that most likely this kind of ships will stay permanent in space without the ability to just log them out in the long run. At least that is my assumption how bed logging will evolve.
Enjoyed this one vici! Kraken is a goal for me in this game. While the added features of the Privateer are appealing the raw potential and extra fuel of the base win me over. Can’t wait to see these logistical beasts in game.
Thank you for sharing the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed this! And I agree, the base Kraken wins for me personally as well. And I can't wait to see both of these ships in-game!
Congradulations on both those pickups, they’re absolutely incredible ships!!! I can’t wait to fly around my BMM; I’m really curious to see how the shop gameplay is implemented. And I believe they’ve mentioned being able to retrofit them at some point in game, but we’ll just have to see what they end up doing!
well we already know Anvil has the Liberator and Aegis makes the Idris, i would personally like to see a light carrier made by RSI, Crusader, or even MISC (but i doubt they would seeing as they are a utilitarian civilian marketed company)
Don't think i can agree with the combat rating for the Kraken. For the size of the ship it's lacking in a lot of fire power an only has upper medium sized turrets which would most likely be most effective against medium targets. Comparing that the railguns, or the torpedos or just the amount of larger guns and amount of smaller turrets. All the landing pads for ships shouldn't be in that calculation as it is highly dependent on which ship is on and it's not the Krakens combat powers but the individual ships.
I agree, the Kraken's combat evaluation heavily relies on using at least some of its hangars/landing pads for leverage. Without those, it would definitely score lower. But I think dedicating at least some of its stations to combat ships for its own protection is a good idea!
@@ViciDeum Well yeah that my point. It the ship itself had mediocre or straight up bad combat prowess for its size. We are talking about the kraken's combat power not the ships on it. Hangars should instead give points into some versitiliy score instead. Since it is one of the capital ships able to do most different things enabled by the shops, bikes, hangars, large storage among other things depending on variant. Similary to ships like Endeavor or Merchantman.
I don't understand the appeal of the Privateer. The Kraken at its core is a support/carrier. It will be able to do that job better with more cargo space. There are other ships for mobile shopping like the BMM (with lower running cost) and I think mobile shopping in general will not be very popular, since players prefer to know where to get what specific gear/component.
Yea it’ll be really interesting to see how they manage shop ownership. I suspect most of the moneymaking will likely come down to NPC, but we’ll have to see!
It will, as long as you aren't fully loaded with cargo. Then, it'll be too heavy and need towing; at least as far as CIG's most recent statements on this.
Great vid, tho I disagree with the landing ratings. Both can land planetside just fine, it's even part of the concept art. That's the reason they have, I think it's 6 Vtol thrusters, specifically for landing and taking off.
I'm glad you enjoyed this video! And yes, both can land planetside but only when empty. When fully loaded, neither will be able to land and depart unassisted. CIG has stated that the BMM is the largest ship that can land and leave planetside unassisted when fully loaded with cargo!
@@ViciDeum Ah. I must have misheard then. For some reason, I was thinking you said they couldn't land Planetside at all. I'll still wait until the game's actual release to decide if I want one of these giants though since CIG changes their mind on such things more often than a politician breaking a promise lol.
Yes! my favorite unreleased CAPITAL ship! I hope CIG considers capital ships like the Kraken as an ORG ship when its out and about in the Persistent Universe, when the owner of the Kraken calls it out, it will give that player the choice to designate it as an ORG ship, where ORG mates will be able to spawn in if they so choose allowing better logistics when it comes to joining ORG mates playing in the PU. That alone would make the CAPITAL ships a really prized ship as it can spawn in players of an ORG and can allow them to do stuff together AND makes for fun gameplay since if a CAPITAL ship is out in the verse its going to be a nice juicy target for rival ORGs to take out, especially since SC is now experimenting with base building, a CAPITAL ship like the Kraken makes a LOT of sense as a mobile ORG base, thinking about it makes me really hope CIG nails its first iteration of Capital ship with the Polaris, its not quite the size of the Kraken, but its a great step to promoting actual multiplay/multi crew gameplay since its easy to join ORG mates in the PU, excellent vid as always 👍👍👍👍
It is such a cool ship, I can't wait to see it out in the verse! And I really look forward to CIG implementing more Org mechanics with these large capital ships and in other aspects of the game as well!
and this goes out to all the orgs all the everybody stop buying these ships for what they are now they never stay the f****** same and everybody always complains even though they warn you four times before you buy
@@ViciDeum Couldn't secure just the Privateer so I ended up melting my whole fleet for the Drake Complete Pack. Gonna end up melting that when I'm close enough to get the Praetorian Pack.
I really like this game, but honestly, this ship will never make it into the game to be purchased, maybe it's part of something in the arena commander or some temporary King of the Hill style domination event where you rely on it for some time , even so, this would only be possible if we have content for organizations. Let's be honest, it's a great ship but we'll never have it, take the Orion as an example, which was the ship that made me buy this game, I basically have no hope that it will make it into the game either and it was the ship on the cover for years of the game, Or Idris who could be what this ship in the video could become, an NPC with a lot of health and just that. A shame but I don't expect much from this ship. However, the video is motivating and exciting, congratulations.
I'm glad you enjoyed this video! But I have faith the Kraken, Orion and others will make it in. Although it may take many years still before we see them in-game!
Sadly they're not in-game or available for in-game purchase (yet)! But they're 1400 Warbond and 1650 Credit for the Kraken and 1700 Warbond and 2000 Credit for the Privateer! For your friend of course!
While that's technically true for player to player trading (using MO trader), the majority of commerce (ie 90%) is done by NPCs who won't be able to interact with your "shops" otherwise!
2 medium landing pads, Hammerhead: "yes"
Hahaha, if it sits it fits!

The base kraken is much more versatile in hauling the once former cargo of someone else.
That's very true! And the profits from free inventory can't be overlooked!
@@ViciDeumdeshalb scheue ich mich ein Upgrade zu machen 😅
Danke. Sind klasse deine Videos 👍
@@derkiwi9619Just get both? ;-)
It's a ship for orgs anway, doesn't hurt to have multiple carriers and at least one trading hub.
No privateer is more versatile because you don't need to do boring cargo hauling. You sell and someone else can do it.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Sadly I'm a bit too busy atm, but it's definitely something I've thought about!
Awesome video! Definitely getting a base Kraken!
Thank you! And congrats in advance, the Kraken is one hell of a ship!

privateer owners will be able to change to the cargo version at docking on main towns like a swap that can be done
As long as you're willing to pay the fee and wait for the swap!
Im waiting to see what they do for the other ship makers. The Kraken being released means they're probably thinking about other carriers.

@sora2534 I do t cou t the Liberator as a carrier. It's more of a cargo ship. Despite the fact it's billed as a light carrier.

Why have the Dragonflly hanger if the Kraken can't land. Wouldn't it have been useful to use that space for something else?
Thankfully the Kraken can land, just not fully loaded. Although even when fully loaded, it'll just need some towing to get moving!
