Most Chinese in and from Mainland China won't feel that way, i.e. feeling embarrassed. These people have no sense of embarrassment and shame. As a Londoner, I can say that Chinese people are generally held in high esteem here. They are usually intelligent, well-behaved, highly principled and are hard workers. Mind you, most of the ones I have met have come from Hong Kong.

Even with bans, the song will have an audience. While surveillance technology was not as intrusive during the USSR period in Russia (and a few occupied countries) music did find a way to spread and give hope to people, despite bans. (Or rather bans are an effective way to promote and create interest.)

The CCP destroyed the original Chinese culture. The current culture of the Chinese people sadly appears to be very selfish without a thought for others with regards to some people and/or their children weeing and pooping openly while in other countries. The discarding of litter in China is worse than alot of countries and grabhag behaviour is seen all over the world when it comes to shops having sales etc. Chinese citizens genuinely either don't care or are frightened to help one another if someone is involved in an accident, falls ill, is attacked or kidnapped. I've been told it's because they don't want to risk getting involved in case they are falsely accused of being the perpetrator as apparently bribery and corruption runs rife through their culture. I'm assuming things have only deteriorated to this since the CCP took over and I'm sure not everyone is this selfish and uncaring.
08:12 this! It lead to my learning more about the Confucius Institute. They set them up with foreign universities who have to sign an agreement which refers to 'headquarters' - basically the CCP. The agreement reserves all judgement about the quality of teaching delivered by that branch of the institute to 'headquarters' not the university, and is vague about other activities it may get up to. Apparently Confucius Institutes are well known as a front. They can be used to help exert leverage around teaching the CCP may not like, monitor the activities of Chinese students etc. That's in universities abroad, not China. Also I was reminded about wolf warrior diplomacy, and the incident at the Chinese consulate in Manchester which I'd completely forgotten about.

If universities were funded properly, they wouldn't have to take Chinese money, and then the Chinese government wouldn't be able to pressure them. Times like this show that people all over the world are mostly good people, who just want to live in peace. While surveillance technology was not as intrusive during the USSR period in Russia (and a few occupied countries) music did find a way to spread and give hope to people, despite bans. (Or rather bans are an effective way to promote and create interest.)

The CCP destroyed the original Chinese culture. The current culture of the Chinese people sadly appears to be very selfish without a thought for others with regards to some people and/or their children weeing and pooping openly while in other countries. The discarding of litter in China is worse than alot of countries and grabhag behaviour is seen all over the world when it comes to shops having sales etc.
Chinese citizens genuinely either don't care or are frightened to help one another if someone is involved in an accident, falls ill, is attacked or kidnapped. I've been told it's because they don't want to risk getting involved in case they are falsely accused of being the perpetrator as apparently bribery and corruption runs rife through their culture. I'm assuming things have only deteriorated to this since the CCP took over and I'm sure not everyone is this selfish and uncaring.
08:12 this! It lead to my learning more about the Confucius Institute. They set them up with foreign universities who have to sign an agreement which refers to 'headquarters' - basically the CCP. The agreement reserves all judgement about the quality of teaching delivered by that branch of the institute to 'headquarters' not the university, and is vague about other activities it may get up to.
Apparently Confucius Institutes are well known as a front. They can be used to help exert leverage around teaching the CCP may not like, monitor the activities of Chinese students etc. That's in universities abroad, not China.
Also I was reminded about wolf warrior diplomacy, and the incident at the Chinese consulate in Manchester which I'd completely forgotten about.
If our government funded education properly, they wouldn't have to sign up .

The point is.....
If universities were funded properly, they wouldn't have to take Chinese money, and then the Chinese government wouldn't be able to pressure them.
Investing in our countries future is just as important as defence etc..

The pianist first asked them "Where are you from?", they responded "We are from China". But he kept called them Japanese after that, and commented that "Asian girls are ....". What is more, he started to play a well-known racist song in western countries torwards asians "ChingchengHanji". Then he started grabbing the Chinese national flag from the girl, and kept calling it "communist flag". Come on! Those young people are simply holding a flag of their own country, and what is wrong with that?
BTW, the police officier was doing the correct thing: He didn't have the permit to film there for commercial. If you use public space for commercial purpose，the police won't allow him to do that. It has nothing to do with Chinese folks.
