With the next gen stuff Cat really set new standards for various machine types and sizes. My boss gifted me a 315 wich arrived this week. Im so impressed with it. Starts with visibility wich improved a ton and that i havent seen on any machine so far. AC on the mini excavators is the best thing of all time. With the cab directly over the engine these get really warm in the summer. On the bigger machines the auto grade and specially the scale are really awesome as well

Hi from the UK, i bought a CAT 302Ccr 26 months ago, & i opted for a hydraulic quickhitch, simple to use and quick to change attachments, i find the machine a bit more thirsty on fuel compared to my previous JCB 8020 mini digger, but the aircon is a godsend, lot more high tech than old machine, its ready to accept a tiltrotator when a find one for the right deal, on the whole im happy with it, only niggle i have its not the easiest to put fuel in & the blade creeps down ever so slowly when working, happy digging

James - in time I think you will come to appreciate the Cat manual quick coupler. After many hours of use, other quick couplers will become sloppy. The Cat has a wedge that always keeps your attachments tight on the coupler. Yes it does take a few extra seconds to change attachments but after several hours of use, the coupler and attachments are still tight. For me it is worth the trade off. We have a few machines with the hydraulic quick coupler and that of course is the ultimate in speed and convenience but it does cost more. Glad to hear that you are happy with your new machine. It appears to be a good fit for the type of work you do in tight locations. Keep up the good work.

To solve the problem with the bucket coupler, get a Quick coupler with intergradted tilt it does cost a bit but it’s worth every penny and it Will make your jobs ten times easier.
I would get the tiltman hydraulik coupler its really good qualtiy and built to last.

  • @stephenlehr6020

I have 80 some hours on mine and I love it. I can't help you with the angle blade but the coupler..... Hartford Attachments in the UK, makes the Uni-lok hydraulic coupler (get it with the lifting eye, it's in a better position than the eye on the bucket link), I got mine from Dar @ Solaris Attachments. It was made to order so it took several weeks plus Fed-Ex ships it to you, which seems to take weeks to get out of any European airport.... It uses the same basic design as the CAT coupler, with the wedge locking the rear pin so it automatically adjusts to stay tight each time you engage it. Also it is setup as a single lock & unlock coupler, so the "safety" front pin lock opens and closes with the rear wedge (like it should...).
It's not cheap but worth every penny, no more getting in and out of the cab unless you have hydraulic hoses for a tilt bucket or something. They can provide a full hydraulic fitting kit for it, or you can get the "Hydraulic quick coupler lines" from CAT and then the system works thru the monitor (what I went with and had CAT install it all as the initial setup of the machine), the line setup is available to order thru the parts department, at-least a year ago it was not available as an "option" on a new machine unless it was ordered from the parts department separately (not sure why....).
So that first button you pointed to below the throttle is like the crane button or something in the larger machines, it doesn't do anything in the 302 (let me know if yours does, mine nothing happens).
I haven't figured out how to remove the floor mat to clean it easily..... I think you have to take the pedals off to get it out.......(REALLY CAT.....) Let me know if you figure out how to do that with the pedals in place!

The plug on the roof is a power outlet for your flashing light and the button that your not sure about is for when lifting, it drops the revs and slows it down for better control

I agree with you about the bottom hoses. Could be a problem especially if you were clearing brush and backing up...they could get snagged. That hose change, bucket release change and an angle blade would make that machine perfect.

Lol I was moving boulders 6ft in diameter. She’s a power house. She’ll thumb up 2fters no problem. And then I just use the blade and lift the front of the bigger boulders to push, or flip. If you see my other videos of my drive way the big boulders on the slope coming down are gone thanks to the 302 😎👍

Where exactly do You find 302 cr too small? For the moment we see that the only advantage of 2,7 tonnes would be possibility to use tree-cutting implement but only for smaller tries (You need at least 3,5 - 4 tonnes for bigger trees, 2.7 tonne is according to us on the edge and only for smaller trees)

Buncha false info your saying. You have the base model quick coupler, the cheapest one, so dont say every Cat is built like this, you can order a hydraulic one. Also dont bury the bucket into the sand like that, your bucket is small, dont move dirt with the bucket linkage and coupler. You can get a ditch bucket for it also or abit bigger if you go aftermarket. And operators been using straigh blades forever, angle blades just means more hoses ans pins and buckets to change or break. Also excavators are not built to side bucket, only push and pull, great video tho, hope ur doing well last time i seen ur vids u were in ur truck with ur wife and super upset.
