    Interesting. I really hope that they don’t buy Herschend. Those parks are fantastic and it’s cool to see that they are still family run. I feel like when you enter Silver Dollar City and Dollywood you are totally separated from the outside world. I don’t get the same feeling at all of the SeaWorld parks. I think maybe United Parks would go for some of the newer parks like Lost Island or the yet to be open Heartland resort.

    • @TheCoasterJosh

      I don’t think Herschend would ever accept an offer from SeaWorld. I do think SeaWorld is crazy enough to try tho lol. I still can’t believe they tried to buy Cedar Fair. Herschend quality is impeccable at Dollywood and I assume Silver Dollar City, but I don’t think the same can be said for Wild Adventures or Kentucky kingdom. Great comment, thanks Drew!

    I'm looking at patterns in the industry and what I'm seeing is that Sea World parks are in fact being alienated by the ARA groups. It seemed strange at first, but they have been adding coaster after coaster after coaster but very few flat rides. This indicates that they intend a rapid expasion as well as a rapid animal shows and attractions removals from the now firmly based "theme parks", the animals could be moved into a dedicated animal based park likening to Disney's Animal Kingdom, while massive flat ride acquisitions and new themeing elements are added to the ride based parks. The addition of kid parks near by would justify the totality as a resort which would include hotels for multi day entertainment options. This may be the only way they survive the rise of Universal.
    Just an observation

    Before Busch Ent sold the parks, the name that owned sea world was Busch Entertainment. So changing the name to United Parks and resorts is going back to there roots, CEO Marc Sawson worked for Busch Entertainment before Busch sold the parks and it became a different company. United parks main compt is Disney and Universal since the early 2000s and to this day. Busch Entertainment was always a quality company when it existed was above Six flags and Cedair Fair. I do not think United will buy any Cedair Fair or Six Flags parks, to rundown and no theming especially Cedair Fair. I can see them build seasme street williamsburg and Cedair Fairs only two quality parks not Cedair point or berry farms. This would be Kings Island or Kings Dominain if they do not but the seasme street park in Williamsburg they would buy either. I think they would keep there name as an different experience type like Discovery cove. United parks tend to be in vacation and historical areas, the whole state of Virginia fits that bill.

    I get why they're doing this. The Sea World name may be highly respected in the amusement park industry but the general public's view on it is far more negative due to past controversies with their orca shows. A rebranding might help a little with that.

  • @mgehrum
    @mgehrum 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think you re onto something Josh, the merger is going to require something to draw customers to their parks. They need to bring back their summer concert series. Just have a dozen or so artists bounce between parks all summer, and still allow the bands to perform in the area when they were there, ie Xyz country band at 6 flags GREAT Adventure, NJ, and allow them to have a similar concert ( not the exactly the same concert ).. they need something, as well as lowering tge admission price for one day addmittance.. Have a different price for regional season passes as well. Just my thoughts.

  • @Kilbaneisking
    @Kilbaneisking 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I would love If they bought Darien Lake near Buffalo NY. The park already has a camp ground, hotel, and a very popular concert venue on site. We're talking most currently relevant tours hit this place all summer long. Then you enter the park. Everything could use a fresh coat of paint, rides and attractions definitely need some tlc (although to be fair Predator has had a fair amount attention given it as of lately, thank you GCI). There is a ton of expansion room so easily room for more themed areas, better flat rides and certainly room for more coasters. It feels like a Roller Coaster Tycoon scenario just waiting to be played. Lol! I know currently it's free money for Six flags as they only operate it and not own, but it could be such a better park. I mean it has a well working Intamin Hyper coaster as well so it's definitely got lots of possibilities going for it.

    I used to go to SeaWorld very often in San Diego and now I barely go. SeaWorld should do the next best thing just buy those interactive highly sophisticated animatronic dolphins! Imagine what can they can do if they make deals with that company. Swim with large sharks! Swim with orcas which is something many people would like to do just like with dolphins! They look real they act real. No cables. No hard shell. If SeaWorld does this then they change their name as well now that they have replaced to their mammals. If there are no more orcas or dolphins they will surely gain back their reputation

    Liberal activists need to keep their politics out of our theme parks and amusement parks. United Parks & Resorts is THE dumbest name ever for a theme park chain. SeaWorld Entertainment Company is fine the way it is, these marine animals are not in harm's way, and SeaWorld would still be SeaWorld if PETA and liberal activists would do my favorite thing when someone is whining: Sit down, shut up. We see this all over the place, from the Washington Redskins and Edmonton Eskimos and now to family entertainment. Newsflash folks! Many Americans, at least where I'm from, still call them the Redskins. I don't advocate any hate toward liberal activism, but let's scale it back a little bit and not attempt to justify satisfaction to all parties. I will forever call SeaWorld SeaWorld, and I will raise my kids one day to call the parks SeaWorld as well

    I think that if United Parks really wants to get away from the controversial aspects of Sea World, they should consider stepping away from their Orca and Dolphin breeding programs. These are massive animals that require a massive amount of water as deep as a high-rise apartment building to support their large frames. They require massive stretches of water to live in, and if it's not vast or deep enough, it can be claustrophobic for them, and have physical effects as well, such as a sagging dorsal fin.
    The point being that as much as I love seeing these animals up close, and as amazing as it is, I'm fine with losing that privilege unless they can be kept happy and healthy, and I'd much rather that United Parks focus on rides, and animals that tolerate captivity. I'd much rather that United Parks invest in hosting Orca and Dolphin sightseeing tours, and even offering guests the ability to swim with them in their natural habitat (as far as I know, wild dolphins are tolerant of people; don't know enough about Orcas).
    From what I can tell, this appears to be working, and guests are loving the new ride additions. Also, it'd be amazing if the Gold Pass can apply to parks outside of Busch Gardens/Sea World Florida.

  • @PastTime777
    @PastTime777 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Sea World had Geauga Lake and they sold it to SF. So the idea of UP buying step children parks is not going to happen. The population in those cities is not enough to support a block buster park, and they are not destinations for tourists. A good example of this is Carowinds. They have the top coaster in the land with Fury325, yet the park is not in the top 20 attendance for USA. Weather, Hurricanes, tourist draw, are major factors. A hurricane destroyed SFNO, they didn't rebuild it.
