We salute Chunky Kong's efforts! The audacity to go on and defeat the world's top players without ever giving up! His 3-0 victory over Light is legendary! From a Japanese Smash Bros. fan.
This is amazing Ive been saying for years DK was underrated, but everyone kept saying he’s bottom 5 and he’s trash but Chunky put all this time and effort in the character and has been placing high in majors! Keep it up Chunky!
Maaaaaan this set would be way more hype if they switched to sonic and Steve then camped the whole game. Lucky me I can just go watch like any ultimate top 8
My opinion, chunkykong will always be the people’s champion in any matchup. Also my opinion, chunkykong is the top player to fully utilize a character to its max potential. Like other pros obviously take their character to greater achievements but watching chunky with dk is art and I don’t feel the same watching other pros.
"He's so smart, he casts bounce so it won't show up in the menu again." *Doesn't use menu again until bounce wears off* Guys, the math doesn't support casting bounce. It already won't show up on your NEXT menu, that's a given. So you have to use menu twice to benefit. And then on your second menu and beyond, you're reducing the probability of bounce showing up from roughly 4/13 to 0. Think about this. Spells have a mana cost. They do something. You have to decide if it's worth the mana. Let's say you opt NOT to cast a bang in neutral because you decide it's too reactable and not worth the mana because it'll likely get shielded. Good decision. Apply the same thinking. Is it really worth 14 mana for the following effect: "Does absolutely nothing until the second time you use menu. Absolutely nothing. Then once you use menu for the second time and beyond, the probability bounce shows up as ONE OF THE 4 SPELLS YOU CAN CAST drops from roughly 4/13 to 0." Is this effect worth 14 mana? No. You guys are crazy. Or don't know math. Remember even if bounce shows up, there are 3 other spells you can use. Final question is: why would you wanna use bounce against DK or Ganon, and then die because you can't recover when 14 mana could have saved you?
Props to chunky, he had a lot of call outs, great mixups, and very clean execution. I will say, bmp's rng was actually not very good, multiple twacks at high percent with no kills, lots of menu cycles with nothing picked, almost never a chance for psyche up with oomph at the same time, and very little to no zooms off ledge, but that's sometimes how hero be.
11:30 Paul going for Psyche Up right here cost him the game, and ultimately the set. Chunky was too close by for Paul to be pulling up the menu, and it turned the tide of that game.
I'm so glad chunky won after that nobody taunted him like that lmao, then he respectfully stood up to shake hands and the other guy didn't wanna shake it, lmao
Hero is quite disadvantaged against heavies in general. He just doesn’t have enough heavy hitting attacks. Lightning, fireball, magic burst, ect, even if you manage to let two or three of those off, heavies can absorb so much damage before being KO’d even at a high damage percentage. Fighting close range is extremely risky, and he simply doesn’t have the speed/defense to cope with the damage they output, unless you buff him which is pretty unreliable and difficult to even cast to begin with in the heat of battle. You can hit them from a distance with more ranged attacks, but then you risk exhausting your mana too quickly, especially if they anticipate and shield. Hero is great against basically anything but heavies, they are his bane. It basically just boils down to having enough mental stamina to slowly whittle away at them, evade, and pray you don’t take enough damage to be one shotted if you slip up.
Se nota mucho la ventaja d ser personaje dlc .. pues el super armor del puño de Dk no funciona contra el heroe, aunque sea un golpe muy debil (el quw tira heroe) anula el super armor de Dk..
The first 40 secondes has to be the most violent debut in a match in Ultimate.
This and the opening with skyjay and riddles kazuya. Absolute carnage lol.
I’ve seen comp matches end in 40 secs😂

The most fun set in Top 8 and no one is gonna convince me otherwise
Most fun set to watch in a super long time. Let’s go DK!!!
This is the Smash we love to see. Props to both players! Both of these characters really need to work so hard in this current meta
BMPs intro should have been him rolling a die LOL
So much about late stage ultimate is legitamately sooo cool. I really hope that Ultimate sticks around better than 4.
definitely underappreciated

Ok these guys were heckin gaming sheesh!! This was honestly one of the most entertaining and impressive sets I’ve ever seen lol good shit!
CK deserves the world. Homie is incredible, beating down over blown characters.
Amazing set!
Props to both of them, that was a SHOW! 👍👍
p.s.: The "one, two, Scooby Doo!" is crazy 🤣
These matches where heavily heated from both players. Two snuck in monkey punches are wild :0
That game 1 could honestly be enough to put this in the running for set of the year

Donkey Kong is just fun, but man... the first stock was amazing from BeastModePaul!
Now that’s a fun set!
The only set as explosive as this was Riddles vs Skyjay at that one Collision.
This was one of my favorite sets ever!
This is fckn awesome go Chunky!!

The amount of donkey punches that were beat by low priority moves is CRIMINAL
