I use APDS without issues. The APCBC does nothing against tanks the APDS can pen. And quite frankly I like the ability to pen a King Tiger's upper hull plate more than I like having to bounce off a Panther's mantlet because of volumetric bullshit.
man italy apds slaps hard i can use an 8.0 at top teir and get one shots you just need to know where the ammo storage is and you can destroy! (the 5.0 Italy sherman vc also has apds that can pen the front plate of a tiger 2 so Italy is just a little unbalanced)

Also they modeled APHE wrong in real life when the shell exploded it launched the fragments in a cone pattern. It didn't explode then launch fragments all around.
The funny thing is AP and APHE in real life had very similar post pen damage as well so I dunno why the great snail overlord decided to shaft britain mains for no reason
Also irl solid shot was technically the superior round. APHE was very inconsistent, it frequently shattered due to the hollow cavity inside, not only that it also had less penetration compared to solid shot, and sometimes the Fuze to explode the shell wouldn't even work. Gajin also nerfed APCR into oblivion.
This strat on Finland(?) has netted me so many free kills. Just gotta figure out how deep your tanks can go, cos some don't like being submerged too far.
I'm almost lost all my sanity playing British main but some time it feel so fun to play, Especially when you Scout the enemy for your teammates. You don't need many kill, some time help other player kill many enemy is the best thing to see
I've been playing only britain since i started war thunder. I am now in rank V and I have not stopped getting stomped the whole time, but whenever i return to rank II I get 2700 points consistently. The british boot camp is brutal but it forces you to git gud
@@mr.waffentrager4400 centurions and later chieftains are genuinely good tanks, challengers whilst not perfect are amongst the best nato, ww2 whilst we were shambles early on we improved later on. If you look at the british tank designs and not just meme insult them you'd see that the tanks, shells, and guns irl were genuinely good for their time

One of the few good parts about the British ground tree is it teaches you where to shoot - not to pen enemy armour - but to kill. You're basically forced to learn either where ammo is on enemies or general places to shoot which kill enemy tanks lest you live a life of assists & pain Being forced to learn early on definitely gives an advantage once everyone else moves onto the discarding sabot rounds - as they still fire like they're using APHE while you know how to surgically remove their ammunition

I first started playing wotb and my first tree that i used was the British and it absolutely dominated other tech tree's so I started playing war thunder thinking that british tree is good but god damn it's so fucking hard 3 months in to the game consistently playing 2-3 games per day my best tank is still br 4.0
sad thing is our late war, cold war, and modern tanks are actually bad, but volumetrics and the game mechanics itself (e.g. you've got to wipe out the tank to knock it out, not just cripple it and force them to decrew) which makes it painful. whereas those apds shells would be perfectly fine irl, in warthunder they just dont cut it if everyone else can one tap you a lot more often than you them

They’re using proximity shells that explode close to the target so you don’t need a direct hit, just don’t miss by a lot!
For those who have yet to grind the British ground tree, when you get to rank IV/V forget about the APDS and just use the APCBC round.
Facts. 84mm APDS fuckin blows. The APCBC kicks most tanks' asses in 90% of situations.

Cent 1 is really good, but there's no tank to lineup with it.
