- It's planting time and Duke & Earl are getting some good practice working in a team of three! We are also picking stones in the field and sharing some cool drone footage.
Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horse farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

Even though I wasn't born yet, my dad used to farm with horses. I do remember nearly all of his equipment was ground driven which was converted over to be pulled with a tractor. Love watching what I missed out on.
After two weeks in hospital I am home recovering. Somehow your hard work with the horses has a calming effect on me.
Thank you Jim and Brenda.
Get well soon!
I watch these vids and think look at this man and his wife at their age the work he gets thru in a day , the stress of modern agriculture crowding him , at his age it would be easy to sell up and live on the proceeds, but they say no we like what we do and we will keep doing it our way, because we like it and its better for the land, all the blessings of all the gods on them
Get well soon Thierry
Sit back and enjoy the videos Jim and Brenda put out. I have even gone back and watched old videos as peace and calmness when not feeling well. God bless you for a speedy recovery 🙏
@@tugonrye1984what Gods do you refer to
The drone made some of the most beautiful picturesque scenes, it made me feel so good. The music was the perfect touch. Thank you for a wonderful video.
I enjoy the sounds of the horses hoofs and the equipment the best. There's definitely something peaceful about working with horses, it seems. I love the relationship Jim and Brenda have with the horses. Such trust and patience. Such a special channel! Thanks, and God's blessings to you both!
Hi Jim,
In this video, it looks like Earl has a slight limp with his left rear leg. Please check the beginning of this video to see if you also detect a limp.
Sue I believe Jim is a very knowledgeable horse man and would never work a lame horse .😊😊😊
I agree, Jim is a very knowledgeable Horsemen. I too have knowledge about horses. The possible limp may be nothing more than the ground that is uneven under his hooves, but I re-watched the video several times and again I say it is an extremely slight limp. Anytime one leg moves a little faster, it’s a signal that there’s a possible discomfort in the other leg, so it is a “possible” slight limp. Anyway, it’s worth checking out.
Thankyou for your help and concern Sue .
Love the relaxing music! Lady and Bree are looking mighty fine!
Happy birthday Brenda!! God bless you!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Every time I watch it amazes me how these horses listen to you....
MAN...Bree is so beautiful...I lov that white mane.
Bree pushing one year old.
Ploughing to the perfect music. Wow so very peaceful and satisfying. Thank you for sharing.🐴🐴🐴
Jim and Brenda living the dream even with all the hard work and associated problems
A lot of hard work but the actual driving, the real time consuming part, is Jim's passion, what he loves to do, all the rest supports his love for training and driving his horses.

Musak, I hate it, but copywrite prevents the use of decent music.
Love that drone work and it shows how hard Brenda works to bring us these beautiful shots! No gym needed to keep you all in shape lol
Such beautiful scenery.

Looks like a beautiful North Country day!!
Looked forward to your video today. There are so many horrible things happening all around the world. I commend you both for how you interact with one another. May God continue to bless you and your audiance
I'm glad you explained the precise herringbone patterns in the field that Lady and Bree were in. I thought perhaps it was from the tiling. I, too, appreciate the drone shots. Everything looks so clean and orderly. A lovely day. Thanks for your hard work and clarifying explanations 😊❤
Yes I very much enjoyed this video. I had brief chat back with one of your commentors about bird sounds. It is wonderful to hear of the other things people notice when watching your channel. Thanks much and God bless
I really did enjoy this video, Brenda. I really like those drone shots. I think I'm a little OCD because those nice straight lines really are a pleasure to see.

Lady and Bree looking great, as are the rest of the herd. Its Friday 31st May, so I it seems I was wrong about the foal due day. But then i never guess anything right ! Have a great week end.

Is it your plan for Lady to foal in the pasture?
Love seeing the horses work and your beautiful farm. Respect your partnership and example for marriage.
Beautiful video. Hard work for you all but very relaxing for the rest of us. Thanks.
Love the new intro, the drone footage and the music
Some of that drone footage would make awesome still photos for pictures or calendars.
Thank you Jim and Brenda for a wonderful video. I love seeing Baron , and Earl, and Bill and I can't rember the black ones name. I enjoyed your video. I at first thought that big field was a bit much but after you changed them out . I understand.
God bless 🙏🌹❤️
Duke and Earl are working great, be well and be safe,
Thank you for drone footage. Your fields are beauriful. If Lady doesn>t have her foal soon; my June 2nd foaling date quess is going to be a losing guess,, ha,
Earl looks like he's uneven behind, also sweating more. I hope he's ok?
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and the horses and working with the horses planting the field
man...what a big field. I wish I was there to help ya'll pick up stones....lov from south alabama.
Jim and Brenda, Thank You Both for bringing us along on today's episode of "Working Horses With Jim". Swapping Earl and Duke out on the planter with Ken and Barron is great training and practice for both young horses. Watching Bill and Baron drawing the sled picking stones is a great method of keeping them both in shape. I look forward to watching the "B" Team at a few horse pulls this summer and to see how Baron reacts to the crowds and the new activity. I can understand why you seeded down the field with a good hay mixture and a top crop of Oats. It should help pull the soil together and tighten up the wet areas hopefully.
Last year Jim was at the St Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum in June and took Bill and Ken to the horse pull event. This year the event is over the 8th and 9th and I wonder what has been going through Jim's mind given that horse pulls were mentioned in this video.
I'm surprised you are not putting in any corn at all? but we all have our reasons and that's what counts. I loved the "Whole field drone shots and the background music. great idea and editing. Also the update on Lady. and shots of her and Bree. I missed my day or her foal two days ago so I guess no hat for me haha. thanks for sharing . ECF.
Love the music choice and drone footage gives an awesome view!!!! Blessings sent
Great video !
Groovey music 😊
We are about to have wild storms Saturday and Sunday especially around Perth , heavy rain and strong winds to 120 Ks . Plains may be diverted .
Your farm is absolutely beautiful! Not to be disrespectful but would you ever consider spreading ashes on your property at the tree line?
The Netherlands is still very wet , the horses should be out in pasture day and night by now but they will plow the field.
Jim, maybe sometime you could give a quick overview on how the machine works when planting the seeds. Trying to figure out and I’m curious as to how that works. That’s a lot of field to seed.
This might have some more close ups of the seeder:
th-cam.com/video/-KpVWVAqnvA/w-d-xo.html
@@WorkingHorsesWithJim Thank you for the link. Still curious as to how the seed and Oates leave the seeder and get put in the ground. I’ll get on google and do a little researching. Sure do miss Buck after watching the video. Thanks again
Bob
The music is a bit similar to that in de videos of Brady brandwood and his rescue lobster Leon. Very artistic
Loved the music and the video
It looks so good, awesome
It looks like the horse on the left of the three is favorin his back leg?
Jim will you be bringing Lady up to an area closer to the barn to keep an eye on her now that she's close to foaling?
Hi
T hey stand so well
How do you run the lines on 3 horses? Thanks for all you do!
I wonder if Lady knows Bree is her daughter.
❤❤
Here it is May 31st and it's so wet I can't even drive a team across the field I wanted to put oats in.
Nice music!
Jim,question. How many acres is that plot you were seeding today.Thanks.
Ten😊
Jim.
Do you kinda regret getting the smaller less powerful breed as your future working horses?
I'm wondering if you are still sending out the News Letter....I haven't been receiving for some time and even went in and signed-up again for it a couple of weeks ago.
Is that horse on the left favoring his right rear leg
Beginning. Horse on the left, right back leg has an unnatural step?
I really like your dog. What is he?
Schipperke/blue healer mix
I want to thank you Brenda for bringing up my question to Jim about letting Skippy ride on the wagon....
I understand he does not like the car, but he always seems to show interest in what Jims doing when he stops the horses for conversation or whatever...
Guessing that Skippy would jump right up if Jim patted his lap or the seat nest to him.......
❤❤❤❤❤
Does Earl have a shorter quicker step than Barron or Earl?
The old saying was, a good teamster watches his weakest horse. It was time for Earl to come out. The other two were fine, but he was all sweated up. Sometimes that is the youngest horse, sometimes its the oldest. Sometimes it is the biggest horse, and sometimes it is the smallest. Sometimes it is the horse who has recently been lame or sick, and has lost fitness. A good teamster watches and knows. I like the classical music with it. The first musical choice was rather reminiscent of unmentionable movies of the 80's.

Your left horse on your seeder is limping noticeably.
A large field, must be 4-5 hectares
I’ve been laid up a couple of weeks and I missed a lot as lady had her phone yet. I can’t find anything on it.
I hate spellcheck it was supposed to say has lady had her foal yet. I can’t find anything on it.
I meant ken or Barron
Kinda strange to see tractor tire marks in your field.
What language do you speak to the horses……I don’t understand the commands…….
It’s English
Gee = go right
Ha= go left
Careful or careful step = go or giddy up horse
Whoa or Ho = stop 😊
The name of the seed peoples business?
DeBeer seed and spraying
First
