- Low wings, big straights and some of the best drivers of the world. This is some footage from the 2000 Italian Grand Prix which took place in Monza on September 10th, 2000. It was the race where Michael Schumacher burst into tears after the interviewer asked him if he was aware that he broke Ayrton Senna's 41 victory record..

For me the McLaren MP4/15 was the greatest sounding F1 car closely followed by the Ferrari 412T2

Best sounding engine in my opinion. Even nicer than those big Ferrari V12s of the early and mid-90s.

I was in the Parabolica's standings that day. Man, what a race from Zonta, he made at least 7 or 8 passes in that corner, absolutely fantastic drive!

That was because of the beryllium used for the exhausts on the McLaren, very toxic for humans tho

It really makes you wonder we went from the exciting times here to something so dull and almost uninspiring to today's F1.
Actually, it's a two channel (German commentary - natural sounds) HD rebroadcast from Premiere, probably the best thing we could find out there without getting our hands on the FOM TV mastertapes (in which case you'll have to pay them some millions euros to give you old unaltered high quality footage)

2000 Speed Trap: 357.3 km/h2014 Speed Trap: 361 km/h by Daniel Ricciardo in a Red Bull with DRS on and two cars in front.
You guys should see him racing in Monza in 2014. After hitting 360 km/h he still kept his car on the circuit and passed a car, then he moved two ways and slashed past Vettel on the second chicane. He drove like a BOSS!

to make F1 exciting.. maybe these steps should work:-
1. More companies into engine supplying.
2. Refueling.
3. Atleast 2 Companies supplying Tyres.
4. Ban DRS.
and definitely Better Sounding Exhausts!
Utsav Thakkar all you need are refueling and v10 engines and ban drs then you have most of the problems sorted
Banning DRS is the idiots solution on its own... If you ban DRS you need to do something about the Front wing with some sort of standardisation and make more downforce come from ground effect because cars can't follow each other and thats what really needs sorting out. Remove DRS and watch every race be a zero overtake affair.
Dont let nostalgia guide you lol... i miss the v10's and some things about classic racing in f1 but right now its far more exciting.
Banning DRS will remove most if not all overtaking opportunities, and two companies producing tyres leads to things like Indygate happening again. Refuelling also increases the risk of fires, and if Honda is anything to go, engine companies probably don’t want to go in F1

@@julioacceus253 DRS opens the rear wing to reduce drag and increase top speed upto 10 Km/h. When the driver behind uses it in the drs zone the guy in front of him has no chance of defending his position by the time they reach the corner!

Came here from a F1 2014 video of Mercedes onboard and it sounded like our lawnmower in comparison.

The race two weeks ago in Bahrain was an absolute stunner. I have no qualms with the changes that have been made to the regulations. I merely stated that the Merc'-Ilmor V10 was one of my favourite engine notes.
too bad that this was the last exciting year, after this races started to be boring because of lack of fights on track and that was because of not only Schumi but aerodynamics too
Nope, it was called Premiere and originally was a German broadcasting channel in sat and terrestrial tv. If I recall correctly, it's changed its name to Sky Deutschland now
It does not matter if this current generation of cars are faster, they sound shitty enough. I understand they had to make changes in the sport, but sound has a huge impact on motorsport. I hope they find a way to circumvent the V8 engine sound issues during the next seasons.

Before 2009 F1 was just as boring. 2002-2004 Schumacher owning everyone, then 2005-06 alonso winning everything ( 2006 wasn't too bad ) 2007 okay not bad, 2008 forget it, 2009 better, 2010 excellent, 2011 boring, 2012 not that bad , 2013 boring ( due to ending of the season )
2014 average would of been epic without mercedes, 2015 better but still nothing special, 2016 started good but has since been a bit boring.
I fail to see how loud V10s or V8 engines and mechanical grip and downforce from 2000 say to 2013 made F1 any better.
These cars have been noted mentally by the drivers as the toughest to manage, with phyiscally the older cars being much more challenging.
Next year everyone will complain and say the same thing they said pre 2009 the cars have to much grip.
The problem with most F1 fans ( im am by no means lewis hamiltion here to let you know ) is that they have no racing experience. They keep trying to fix F1 and moan at everything.
Just look at the way people moan about DRS. Half the people have no clue how it even works.
If the fans drove the mercedes W07 in the rain at monaco this year any claims of them being a joke i reckon would be long gone.

+30/40 kmh faster than 2013 cars. Though I believe that this year's cars will exceed 340 km/h in the main straight in monza (remember they've got one more gear)
yea. but their engine is smaller.. though they got ERS i still think they will build speed in corners. aerdynamics is so much more in this age than actual high speeds.. :D but let's see

When Schumacher won this race, I figured Mika was not going to win the championship. He should have been able to challenge the charging Schumacher here in Monza, but it didn't happen...
But F1 thought it was terrible.. and they changed it into the shitshow we have today.

I don't think there was a "race mode" in 2000 lmfao
There was just one mode in v10 era: flatout. And only one limit: no limits. They literallt had qualifying engines that only lasted for an hour or so. Only bad thing in v10 era was the tires, and in 2005 no tire change rule on top of that.
