I just bought the camera from Ebay. I will be getting all the parts from your video and do the adaptation. I noticed that you haven't post any new videos?. Thank you for all your videos.
Here is an option on the aperture dial - one thing you can do is add a line at f/2.8.. a parallel line offset indicator which compensates for the offset. It would give you an indication of actual f-stop. I’m curious if there is a way to loosen and then offset and retighten it into the correct location. I’m sure you would have looked into that, so the odds are unlikely.

After watching this video every day for two months, my Ricoh Autoshot finally came in from Ebay. Being on a budget, I busted out my calipers and designed and 3D printed the adapters in the first setup you described, except for a Canon Eos. Things are very blurry unless you're super close but I am happy overall that everything mostly works, I guess I just have to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I don't seem to notice a change in focus when I use the focusing ring in front.
@@VintageOptiks I discovered the flange focal distance, and used the example on the website I found to adjust the height of the adapter, but I suppose it's time for an upgrade!
It’s a quirky little lens, but as I mentioned in the video it’s not really a “do it all” kind of lens. It has some shortcomings, but if you know how to work around them it can be a lot of fun. It might not be for everyone but I personally love it’s unusual rendering and super cool bokeh!
Yeah the really good ones are unfortunately expensive. But there are some more affordable ones that perform really well. It also depends on how long of a telephoto lens do you need.
I’ve only adapted this lens to Sony E mount and have no experience with Panasonic, but basically first you’ll need to attach the M25 to M42 adapter and then you’ll need to find an M42 to Panasonic L mount adapter. Focusing will be done by using the front focusing mechanism of the lens. The only thing I can’t say is if you will be able to reach infinity with that set up. But you’ll definitely be able to use the lens for close up shots. And close up work is where this lens shines the most. Cheers.
@@VintageOptiks you are correct. Once the M25 to M42 converter is attached to the back of this converted Ricoh lens one needs to attach a spacer (which you did by using the 8mm M42 macro tube spacer for your Sony NEX mount before you attached the super slim M42 to NEX adapter). In my case (Micro Four Thirds System user) the flange focal distance is longer than Sony NEX (19.25 mm vs. 18mm for Sony NEX) so I'll have to use a 9.25 mm spacer tube instead of the 8mm you used. I have seen some people use schedule 40 thick PVC pipes of a suitable length ground down using your technique you showed in one other video (with temporary use of electrical tape to check focus and infinity).
That aperture shape is the same as the one on the lens from Yashica Electro 35 CC. It's a 35mm F1.8 lens. I have actually used it today, and just when I got back home, I check my notifications, and I see this video with the same aperture shape. Very cool.

Hi I made a few comments on your video before DG New Forest and have now received the Rikenon Ricoh cameras have arrived and I have looked at these one Ricoh 126 C automatic, one Ricoh Auto 126 & Ricoh Auto shot, these have 40mm 2.8 lens, 35mm 2.8 lens both of these being larger than the third with what I perceive to be light sensation give glass around the lens and the third being as the one you used in the bastardisation of camera to allow a fitting to be glued to allow mounting on a camera the third having the same glass around the this lens but set back, all have the screws inside to remove. My Question is would the larger lenses of the first two cameras, serve the same purpose and maybe save the smaller auto shot as a good camera as it appears. Your input and valued comments would be appreciated and valued. Regards DG New Forest U.K.
Hello. I haven't tried adapting the Ricoh lenses you mentioned, so I can't say what the process will be like and how they will behave when adapted to digital. Each camera has its quirks. Sometime it's easy to remove the lens and sometime much more complicated. I can only speak of the Ricoh Autoshot that's featured in this video. Good luck.
Heyyy quick question. The 8mm extension tube link for Amazon - it shows a different kinda tube then the one in the video. I ordered them. And none of them fit on the back. Any recommendations or alternatives besides the helicoid?
Hey sorry to hear that. I just opened the link and as you mentioned it shows a different tube set indeed (M48 mount). Very weird! I wonder if the previous seller simply changed the item. Not sure what happened there because it used to be M42 extension tube set. Anyhow, I deleted the old link and I replaced it with a new one that includes the 8mm M42 tube. And you don't have to buy from that particular link. Maybe there is cheaper stuff on eBay. Definitely check that as well. As long as you can find an 8mm tube that is M42 mount it will work. Hope this helps and sorry that happened to you. I hope you can return the ones that don't fit.

Hi. The only other way I can think of, is just to get a regular M42 to EF-M adapter and use the lens that way. (of course first you need to glue the M25 to M42 adapter to the back of the lens). With this set up you most likely won't be able to reach infinity, but this lens is best for close-up work anyway. You can still use the focusing ring on the front of the lens to focus. I hope this helps.
