I loved this! I've sung with piano, organ, harpsichord, orchestra, brass band, you name it. What you showed here is the absolute, unquestioned brilliance of an instrumentalist. What I did as a performer had its challenges! What instrumentalists are capable of makes singing look like child's play! No disrespect to other singers! Just WoW! I'm blown away!
I love your videos! It is so much appreciated, and I love how concise you are with everything. I majored in music performance in 2010 and have since done other things with my career. I'm now staying home with the kids and have been practicing like crazy. I'm preparing for my first audition in probably a decade! I never had any formal training on piccolo. We always focused on flute. I also never had a nice piccolo. I just got a Bulgheroni and I'm in love with it! Would you be able to do a video with Firebird Suite, 1919 version? Thank you again for everything you do!!
I’m glad you like the videos! I love Bulgheroni piccolos - good choice. 👍 I will def do a guide to Firebird Suite- that’s a good one. Good luck on your audition!
Hello, thank you for your videos. I am preparing the Rossini for an audition. The music they have on their site has the 16ths slurred after the f#s and following. Since that is the music they are providing, should I do it slurred?
Great question! I would tongue the 16ths even though it has a slur marking. I think almost all editions are notated this way but you always tongue the notes. I don’t know why this notation hasn’t been updated by now. If you are auditioning for a community orchestra, slurring the notes is probably fine. If you are auditioning for any kind of professional orchestra, regional or full time, you need to tongue the 16ths.
@@hawaiiflute Thank you Julia! The fast spots at sections 2&3, plus the terrifying high E against the glockenspiel at #17 especially! Any hints appreciated.
Enjoy your videos very much - I’m university piccolo teacher and I have very similar ideas about many excerpts as you present here. Good job! :)

Thanks for the very kind words! Playing an instrument is definitley challenging in controlling the instrument itself!

@@hawaiiflute Wonderful!
