Today a French hiker found dead at the same path, near Sougia, after 2 days of searching.
Lack of water and too hot summer days are the main reasons of the many incidents at this specific route.
Be careful and keep safe, everyone.

Do you know this path well? Apart from the lack of water, is it dangerous between Agia Roumeli and Tripiti beach?
We are going there at the end of October.

Hi TT! I don’t remember the exact time to arrive at the ruines of the Venetian Fort and the annex churc.... but it was about 3 hrs. Until here the path is good market and easy to find. It’s really a magic and extrem isolated area!

      Hi Milan
Nice o meet you In TH-cam!
A good hiker do this section of trekking in about 9-10 hrs
There is only one water point about on the meddle but the quality looks bad to drink.
We had 4 liters water per person.
Yes, good running shoes can be ok, but I suggest you trekking shoes because the paths some time are a bit “wild”……
Don’t go here in summer is really too hot! We went in spring.
Sometime, especially in the last part, the orientation is not so easy, you need have a good map, better a GPS and an consolidate hiking experience!!!
      Have you a great tour
      Ciao

@@milan2273 I went only along the coastal trekking and not into the internal mountains, I don't know the White Mountains..... anyway beginning of September is sure too hot!
If you have running shoes similar at the Salomon trail running series can be sure ok.
On your first days of holiday in Crete: try with short treks to test the temperatures and your lever of adaptability and then decide what you can do..... If you go alone take carefull!!!! There are not phone reception out of the town to call eventually the emergency resque....

      Ciao
