    Adorable! Even if they can eat on their own, baby birds love being fed by their parents or humans. I see baby finches on my bird feeder, fully capable of eating seeds on their own as they are shelled sunflower chips, proso white millet, niger, etc., but they sit their squawking loudly and flapping their wings and the poor parent has to pick up the seed and drop it in their beaks. The parents hardly have time to eat themselves. Kids are like that, little leeches.

    As of the time of this comment I have a starling nest underneath my AC at my bedroom! Can’t see the nest but boy howdy are those babies LOUD! Almost all day when in my room I can hear their hungry calls and hear the rustling and noises from the mom and dad Starling. Usually I have my box fan on and it drowns most of it out but otherwise I have it off when I wanna to listen to them. The babies sound exactly like this video’s starling so they’re likely close to being old enough to fledge. Only realized the birds flying to and from my AC was because it’s a nest and not them going after the carpenter bees, but I’m gonna miss hearing the starlings outside my room once they all fly away. :,v

    My neighbour brought me a fledgling that she claims bashed into her window. Unfortunately she kept it for a day or so before telling me. So now I've taken it upon myself to attempt to at least help the bird along until it is strong enough to fly properly giving it an higher chance of survival compared to just dumping it where she found it hoping the parents haven't left.

    • @gthedrum
      @gthedrum 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our granddaughter & her cousins brought me two premature fledglings they rescued today. As yet, they haven’t taken food from me but their own community returned & fed them for a while before leaving around dusk. I’ve brought them indoors for protection overnight, so will try feeding them some cat food in the morning.

      They'll run around and then come back multiple times a day and land on my shoulder and arms, head. Will land and hang out for a while.

      @@lachlantaylor7713 Not true. Hundreds of thousands of birds survive every year with humans, perfectly fine. Even if left alone in nature the one year survival rate for a starling is only 25%. Could be slightly more or slightly less depending on how well you treated it.

    That's unfortunate! Personally I think most birds are aggressive. We get birds coming up to our windowsill during the winter (we feed them during this time) and I have seen the most gentle of birds attacking other birds. Birds are amazing though and I love watching them. Great job on taking care of that little starling. :)
