Three times a season for me. May 1, July or August, depending on how dry it’s s been, and November after last mowing. Also, not bagging really helps to fertilize. The clippings become fertilizer. I mow every 4 days at 3 1/2 inches. My lawn is 99.9% grass and beautiful
We purchased a home with 2 year old kbg sod that was in rough shape, with many large stones underneath in hard clay, brown stripes with bare spots running the length of the property. We did something like: aggressive dethatching, digging up stones, shampooing and aerating, a dose of PGF right before doing a light soil top dressing and leveling, then a mix of milorganite and chicken feed. After getting after it for 4 months, we have the healthiest lawn, and it feels good to walk barefoot in our yard finally. Thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you for introducing me to PGF complete. It’s the only fertilizer which my transition zone lawn responded to. I’ve tried several other brands but one bag of PGF took it to a whole other level.
I needed an idea for fertilizer and I trust your opinion as you have not steered us wrong with any of your other suggestions and recommendations. Thank you.
I'm so glad you put out this video. Keep it simple. I'm so burned out of all the people pushing all the Humic products like they are the best thing since sliced bread... they aren't. Does Humic Acid work? Maybe a little bit... but nothing what these companies are claiming. I put it out on my yard for 3 years in conjunction with my standard fertilizing program and my yard was no different than before and my yard is really, really nice. I just don't see how more people aren't realizing it??? Again great video!
Well said. Keep it simple is best. I have no issues adding extra elements like Humic Acid & like Sea Kelp a lot but I do them separately when I want to. The base fertilizer is the MOST important part of your lawn and if you keep that going without anything else you will be ahead of the game. It costs a lot of money to take a lawn that is 90% good and get to 100% and some people want that but most of us don't and love a 90% perfect lawn and it looks great without being a burden.
@@BrodeyDoverosx I also agree, I like a more elemental approach and have had good results with concentrated humic acid and sea kelp. PGF has those things but in much smaller quantities. I am a fan of adding Sea Kelp and Humic but in greater volumes.
The video is good. I no longer use Scotts for the same reasons you mentioned. However, while The Andersons PFG Complete is probably "the best", there is no way it is "affordable" for the average homeowner. Currently, it runs around $37/5K sqft bag. For example, I need about 12K sqft so that would be over 2 bags or around $85 worth per application. I will stick with lawn fertilizers from Rural King or Menards, typically between $28 - $32 for 15K sqft bags.
Larry, I am not even familiar with Anderson but I do know ferts and turf and when someone starts talking about "a bag for so many sqft", the reality is you probably need a bit more education in fertilizers. Did you know there are different forms of Nitrogen used in ferts? And that can affect things like PH. Slow release cost more, always will! It is also both a money saver and time saver. We apply only 2 apps/yr.
Thank you for this video. I'm new to lawn care and this video is really helpful to me. I was beginning to feel overwhelmed and overbudget with all the different fertilizer brands and it seems like everyone is promoting their own specialty fertilizer with a miraid of supplemental add on products to go along with it. Lawn care feeding was getting very cluttered and confusing to keep up with as I was taking in as much lawn care info as I could find but it came with it a lot of spam. Thanks for simplifying lawn care fertilization with clear facts and what to look for in a quality fertilizer.
I was paying monthly for lawn treatment...among other things...and since subscribing your channel, no longer err of the past, moving forward, saving money, hence, a greener lawn 🍀 😁
Trugeens horrible work 10 years ago drove me to start doing it myself too. They still call me at least once a month, some day I am going to record one of the calls and share it.
I've always used Scotts never had clumping in my bags. Now cheaper fertilizer yes clumps in bags . But Scotts has always done great for my lawn here in the Pacific northwest
I use Milorganite, 13-13-13 and liquid iron on my lawn from my local farm store. Way cheaper than the Big Box and way better. My farm store sells the pro grade fertilizer. It has a much larger pellet which fertilizes over a much longer period. Iron makes your lawn dark green not a ton of nitrogen which only makes it grow faster.
Great video. I'm never buying a fertilizer (or any product for that matter) that hasn't been on the market for awhile. Also, the Scott's Fertilizer that you get the clumps in, isn't on the manufacturer. They send it to so many stores, the stores won't properly handle the product and moisture gets in. Nice video !!!!
I use Scotts , my lawn looks great . I just break up the clumps no problem . Scotts works great to controll my weeds too ! thanks for your great videos .
One thing I’ll say about seasonal fert, if you’re going to continue to use a high nitrogen fert all year, you better be able to water during the heat of the summer. Pushing growth like that is a tricky balance. I also like something with night potassium for summer stress. Got be thru last year really well (Long Island).
@@kevinmatechak852 honestly depends what you need. A good soil test will tell you. But I’ve been having good luck in he summer with a stress blend from yard mastery.
@@BenNawrath Have you used the YM 7-0-20? What were your results? My soil test recommended 7-0-20, so I bought the Yard Mastery blend. I plan on putting it down today.
@@joemarchand8313 yup that’s what I’ve used. I’ve done some low doses of higher nitrogen stuff, when trying to recover/prevent some disease issues. Overall, good even watering, more frequent but lower dose fert, that stress blend in there and it’s good.
I second that. Would love to see it. So many good lawn guys to follow on TH-cam, but their processes are so daunting as they want you to order stuff from them, map out your yard for proper mix ratios etc. although I realize that’s the best way, most homeowners have a life and don’t have time to focus 99% of their free time on the lawn but still want it looking nice. This guy’s videos are straight to the point and easy to listen to
I agree, the Anderson's products are excellent. I live in northern Lousiana and use The Anderson's pre-emergent with NO nitrogen, and their post-emergent WITH nitrogen and that alone seems to be almost enough fertilzer. I put each down twice a year at absolute max rate in the spring, and middle rate in the fall, and have great results. Once or twice a year I add something else like a lower nitrogen granular, or spray a Greene County liquid fertilizer product (low nitrogen like Flora Greene, or Greene Effect) again at max rate.
Just threw this stuff down today based on citations from numerous schools wherein they state, and I'm paraphrasing, "Absent a soil test, use a 3-1-2 or 4-1-2 ratio fertilizer". Put it down after using my greenworks dethatcher. Now I wait...
I first learned about the Andersons from "How to with Doc" on youtube, their products are so much better than anything that you can get at a big box store, but you pay a premium for that quality, and for most, a few extra dollars is worth having less aggravation, and a beautiful lawn.
Great job on the videos! Clear, concise, and enjoyable to watch! I’m wondering if you do anything with your lawn as far as insecticides? It would be a great addition to your lawn series.
imo, the best lawn fertilizer is good old fashioned compost. we bought our property in 2012, & I started seriously addressing our lawn in 2016. we do many things for our lawn & it gets better & better every year, but I've noticed the best results the past 3 years after buying & spreading bulk compost every Fall. we also save some of it for late Spring to spread in May for the summer months. the front lawn looks like a carpet of green this year.
I have approximately 3500 ft.² of lawn to fertilize. A lot of these bags come with a coverage of 5000 ft.². I keep debating on how I should efficiently handle things. I’m thinking of buying two bags each of the 5000 square-foot products and split that out over three years. I would love some advice. Thank you so much for your time.
Loyal Andersons customer and happy with it, however...I cut my Bermuda 3 x a week, and I stressed it. It started to go South on me and got a pale yellow, so I crossed my fingers and got a couple of bags of Green Max that very day. Yes there were some clumps, but the prills are nice and tiny. I just used an old mower blade to break them up. I have to be honest. My yard bounced back better than ever within a week with some rain. It is back to it's earlier beauty. I now mow twice a week.
Yes I agree with you. I am not crazy about spending money super juice. I do use alot of revive soil treatment were the dog stains and when the lawn looks down. REVIVE IS VERY Affordable and always on the shelf at my home depot in Texas.
Found ur vid easy to understand, step by step instructions n recommend products to use. Kudos for upload. I have a small lawn n would like to try Anderson PGF. Does it come in a smaller bag??? Please advise. Anticipating ur next one.
My soil test revealed on the lowest end of the normal range for nitrogen, very high in phosphorus, and low in potassium. Would this product work well on my lawn or should I stay with a zero phosphorus product for an hour? Any tips from this group would be greatly appreciated. This remains by far the absolute best landscaping channel online. Fellow Massachusetts resident here. Thank you for all your incredible info!!!!
Hi there thank you for the kind words. If you have high phosphorus than its best to not add more in the short term. They make the exact same product but without phosphorus here amzn.to/3taPMiF which should be a good fit
@@SilverCymbal thank you so much for your courteous reply. One thing I wanted to add was that what I appreciate most about you is your non-intimidating approach, because I will admit I get overwhelmed with a lot of this stuff and you make things basic which I really appreciate. I have a 15 - 0-15 liquid lawn food spray from simple Lawn Solutions that I’m going to put down in a couple weeks and then go with the Andersens product for the remaining few applications for the growing season. I needed to see it in a few areas this spring, but I was told I may not see any germination so my fingers are crossed and as I used Jonathan green black beauty ultra with the Andersens starter fertilizer.
Sorry Silver Cymbal. I only use Jonathan Green seeding and sodding for startup fertilizer, Jonthatn Green Green up lawn food for regular fertilizing and also the JG Organic lawn food for the shaded areas that doesnt need too much nitrogen. They work for me
I always use 13-13-13. And my lawn is that bluish hue of forest green. The numbers on the bag matter amongst the breakdown and soil composition as well.
We get our lawn treated by a major local company (pre-paid for the season) - if I was to spread this myself between their treatments, Would I be doing harm to our lawn?
Thats a tough one, since without knowing how much they put down, it could really just be wasting your money and I dont want to see you spend more than needed since you already pre-paid. I would consider next year doing it on your own, you will likely be happier. I never even though of doing my own lawncare until Trugreen repeatedly did next to nothing for my yard and I finally had enough. They used to have great techs decades ago but seem to all be long gone.
Just use chicken feed grain in your spreader; set dial at 5.5 Pick up at Coastal or Tractor Supply I think it’s $20 for 50 pound bag It fertilizes you lawn…it’s as organic as you can get! Good microbes, enzymes and will not burn your lawn.
The Sta-green fertilizer that Lowes sells works just as good for me as when I could buy the over priced Lesco stuff. Hey people, fescue WILL lighten up as the temps climb,it's the nature of the grass, not a lack of fertilizer. The only time I fertilize is in the fall when it starts to cool down. I try and hit it in late Sept and then hit it strong in Nov-Dec. Your yard will be green as can be when it wakes up in spring with zero need for fertilizer. IF you over seeded in the fall I would recommend a light spring fertilizing but otherwise not.
Everything you said about this fertilizer is true accept that it's affordable! $70 for a 40 lb bag that says it covers 10,000 sq ft but does not in my experience. Scotts and other brands that cover 15,000 sq ft there's some left over. Anderson's didn't make it halfway. It covered front and one side to the back of my home and nothing for the left side and back yard. Two bags of this stuff will not cover my front and back. Is set my Scotts spreader to to the recommended settings. SO NO IT'S NOT AFFORDABLE ESPECIALLY USING IT AS YOU RECOMMEND IN THIS VIDEO. But it is great stuff.
I use homedepot brand which is better than Scotts. I also follow your channel and Lawn care nut channel and it has changed my lawn. I applied pre-emergent in March end and my lawn has 0 dandelions while my neighbors have tons of those yellow flowers.
Thank you especially in this video about avoiding those seasonal fertilizers that are hyped at the big boxes and small hardware stores where the workers there, as nice as they are, have no research and no clue as to whether the composition and pellet release are any different or worthwhile. One fertilizer choice is all I wanted and you helped prove that to me. Your lawn is impeccable. Your short videos have helped me build a nice lawn in Southwest Michigan. Thanks again.
Hello, I love ur lawn videos, they are so helpful and detailed, I have a lawn that wasn’t maintained w lots of weeds, it’s April almost should I spray the weeds first and then overseerSeed in 15 days? Thank u
I’m a big fan of your lawn care videos because I live in Maine and have similar conditions as you. One big issue I have is with moss. 80% of my lawn looks great, but I struggle with moss in the other sections. Do you have any troubles like that? And if so, how do you handle it? Thanks for all of your tips and suggestions.
I do get some moss, most of it will go away on its own. You can chemically get rid of it. but you are better off doing it with the dethatcher like in this video, easy and quick: th-cam.com/video/NnmaQKh4VWE/w-d-xo.html Thank you also for the kind words
@@robertswift6101 I appreciate the input, but I aerate every year, plus one of my worst areas is on a slope facing the sun (though semi-shaded part of the day). Currently I’m awaiting results from a soil test. Beginning to think the ph is off. Seems to be in sporadic areas where the same loam was spread, but fine in other areas nearby. But again, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to make a suggestion.
I spread a perfect dose yesterday and an hour later a perfecty gentle but long rain came. I would not do that if i did not have a good robo mower or I would have to cut three times per week. Growth is almost 2cm per 24 hours. I need to supplement with magnesium due to the huge quantity of rain.
Hey neighbor. Just up route 24 from you. Great videos thank you. I’d pay $$ for you to look at my lawn and just get you’re opinion. I have irrigation and water everyday yet my lawn still looks burnt in places. Just ordered the liquid aerator from your video. Hope it does the trick. Otherwise I’m throwing my hands up. It’s been 5 years and $10K worth of lawn care.
I've got a shaded area that just won't grow any grass. I've tried multiple blends , shade mixes and ziltch. The patch seems to be growing larger every year too. I've had sod brought in and "professional" nettings with the seeds in them ...still nothing. I'm tired of dumping $2 grand in everytime they say they'll fix the area. I aerate in the spring and summer, don't have thatch...but the soil is only about 2.5 to 3.0 inches of soil and then it's clay underneath. It's also on the bottom of a small hill (less than a foot from the rest of the yard) and I find that most seeds will accumulate in bunches after the first rain. I'm at my wits end . This year I'm going to just try to continually seed it. With aerating (liquid...which I've never used) hoping the soil stays loose enough for the seeds to bury themselves) I mean seed it every 7 days and keep with the same watering schedule (3 times /week) that has the rest of my yard looking strong and healthy...that I've done for the last 25 years. Any advice on a situation like this ?
@@dustinpomeroy8817 I'm starting to wonder. It was just maple leaves that buried the grass and killed it (it was fine for decades before) but the arborvides on the other side of the fence have grown out of control (60 plus feet for some) and they do block a lot of the afternoon sun. They shed like mad too....maybe that breaking down (onto my side) is preventing the soil from being rich enough to grow seed ?) I dunno. It's been 2 weeks since my first seed (decided to reseed every 3 weeks instead of 3) and I'm not seeing much growth. Might be time to just put in a few trucks worth of dirt and resod.
I live in RI...near you. Could you share your fertilization products and schedule? Also, for the kelp application, how often should you apply? My lawn is a new lawn with RI sod, planted last full. Would love a consultation for pay. Great videos, keep them coming!
I subscribed to your channel. Thank you very much for the videos specially this one easy to understand I’m a new home owner with lawn to take care of. I would like to have an schedule and the chemicals to apply if you please give us a video with that info. I hope it is not too much to ask for. Again your video is short, full of smart content, honest and easy to understand
I still bought some Milorganite this year but Anderson’s is probably the best I’ve used. The Bio Char with Humic I applied in the fall and the lawn looked great in the Spring as well.
The humichar is just out of this world expensive though last time I checked it was 90 bucks last year.. my local Turf Supply has biochar and humic acid granular for 40 bucks Milorganite is great don't be ashamed of it everyone loves Milorganite and you can't deny the results pretty much everyone I know uses it stronger than bag rate.. Just be sure to do soil test after a few years of using it to check your phosphorus levels
Not sure if my grass as browning did to going dormant or a fungus. Is fungicide a good to use? Abnormally cold this year until a couple weeks ago. Looked good until then..Thx!
Do a water change on your fish tank, save it, get a $20 sprayer. Use once a week unless you have sand, then 4x a week. The bigger the tank, the more fish poop fertilizer.
Could you please tell us what your fall/winter fertilizer program is and do you continue using The Andersons PFG Complete? I'm in also in Mass so I wouldn't mind following your schedule. Thank you
Is there a fertilizer that would help in extremely sandy soil? This is sand that was deposited along a creek side after a high water flood, up to a foot or more deep.
Thank you again! I want to start using the Anderson fertilizer product. Do you recommend using one of their weed/feed products in the early summer/late fall? Or just stick with one fertilizer and treat the weeds using tenacity ?
So i gutted out my back yard and used clover mini clover seeds and its coming along great! Any recommendations on how to keep that healthy? Would i use the same fertilizer as grass?
Andersons is one of the most expensive when you figure in pounds to the ground. Their fertilizer is more like spoon feeding several times a season. Great product but cost wise it is not cheap and there are issues with availability.
I talked to several landscapers in the area and nearly all of them like Triple 12 (12-12-12) which is sold at a nearby feed store. They also sell a 12-0-12 which is good for established lawns.
@@a.dreturns8807 From what I've been told by several landscapers, any balanced fertilizer is best. Stuff like Scotts which is super high in nitrogen ,,will make your lawn green up quickly, but it will also fade quickly.
Always informative and delivered with class Silver. I am looking to go to Andersons products once my soil gets back in shape from my spring test. They are expensive ,but I think the benefits of humichar with the fertilizer negates the high price. Not many products with that ingredient. Also I bought some spring weed killer for my clover, Beater Ultra, for colder temp applications here in New England so I don't have to wait until May to spray. Just a thought if you want to mention it in your next video
I’m going to apply this to my lawn. However, I have a question of what product I should apply to control and kill the weeds. Scott’s has a weed and feed product that feeds and treats the weeds. From what I can tell from this product, this is just food and nutrition for the lawn. It doesn’t address the weeds. What is the best product I should use to help with weeds in conjunction with PGF Complete?
Clumpy fertilizer? 1). Be picky as to what you pull from the big box pallet. If the bag feels like a brick, Fidel a different pallet of ask for a new pallet to pick from. 2). Drop the bag on your driveway multiple times and multiple sides to break the contents into pourable material. 3). Buy a small section of 1/2 inch galvanized chicken wire of sufficient size to fit over your spreader when pouring. Anything of size will not go through the wire and can easily be crumpled by hand to pass through the wire.
Great video. I was looking at buying PGF complete as well but like you say in the video- buy what you can afford. Yard Mastery makes some great products that are more affordable for the average homeowner. The Scotts stuff at the big box stores is fine as well, it will just lack some of the micronutrients and humic like you'll find in the specialty fertilizers.

We apply only 2 apps/yr.
diesel def is 37% Urea and water, less than $5 a gallon.
LIME in reverse = Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day. It the easiest way to remember when to fertilize.
LOL, I always learned it in reverse, EMIL. Not a word but was always easy for me to remember. Yours at least makes sense as a real word.
@@me77you I learned it for when to add Lime to the lawn in the NE (but also applies to fertilizer), that why it is what it is.
@@Briefcase217 That makes even more sense then the way I learned it although for me that was over 50 years ago.
Which fertilizer do you use?
Thanks!
Great education, thanks!
The only slight advantage organic may have imo is if I accidentally spill some it won't burn up the grass.
My uncle is a distributor for The Andersons in my area and so many golf courses and country clubs contract with him.
I always look forward to your videos! Straight to the point and no filler. Just like a good fertilizer!😂 keep up the great work!
I was thinking this same thing today..be careful with fert companies that over sell but under perform.
Hey I am in NJ. What fertilizer do you suggest I use?
I would love to see your chem application schedule.. (fert, preemergent, post emergent and kelp/humic) would be cool. Thanks ,love your videos.
I really appreciate that, let me see what I can do to put that together.
@@SilverCymbal as always thank you and stay well.
This guy’s videos are straight to the point and easy to listen to
Yes! This would be so great. I always feel like I’m putting my pre-emergent down too early or too late (east GA lawn)
That would be greatly appreciated
You need higher phosphorus if you are fertilizing after dethatching and scarifying!
If people have access to it, the Anderson's four step program is the best bar none. I'm on my fifth season and it made such a difference.
That's great to hear. I love the results but every time I open a bag I am amazed they never get clumps, don't know how but its good!
Can't get Anderson's in Canada😔
I first learned about the Andersons from "How to with Doc" on youtube, their products are so much better than anything that you can get at a big box store, but you pay a premium for that quality, and for most, a few extra dollars is worth having less aggravation, and a beautiful lawn.
Thank you for making this a short video. You could have stretched it out to 20 minutes like so many others.
I appreciate that. Thank you
Just used that exact Andersons fertilizer, it’s amazing. My go to from now on.
PGF Complete from Andersons is by far the best I've ever used and the #1 choice for LPGA Golf Courses... It does fantastic on my Soysia
Very beneficial video, thank you so much for sharing
That dog is right. Bacon works really good and makes the lawn smell delicious!!
LCN has loads of videos on calibrating your spreader and pounds on the ground
Thanks Silver,
You're always helping us save a buck. Your lawn is gorgeous. I want mine looking like that.
I love Doc. super juice seems like a bit of a money grab but I love and have used PGF complete the past 2 years with amazing results
They work for me
I started using this product this year.
I always use 13-13-13. And my lawn is that bluish hue of forest green. The numbers on the bag matter amongst the breakdown and soil composition as well.
The same here.
i am using agways 19-19-19 with great results
We get our lawn treated by a major local company (pre-paid for the season) - if I was to spread this myself between their treatments, Would I be doing harm to our lawn?
Thats a tough one, since without knowing how much they put down, it could really just be wasting your money and I dont want to see you spend more than needed since you already pre-paid. I would consider next year doing it on your own, you will likely be happier. I never even though of doing my own lawncare until Trugreen repeatedly did next to nothing for my yard and I finally had enough. They used to have great techs decades ago but seem to all be long gone.
@@SilverCymbal Thank you very much.
I was born and raised in Toledo Ohio and we love all things Anderson's. It was a dark and sad day when they left the retail market.
Just use chicken feed grain in your spreader; set dial at 5.5
Pick up at Coastal or Tractor Supply I think it’s $20 for 50 pound bag
It fertilizes you lawn…it’s as organic as you can get! Good microbes, enzymes and will not burn your lawn.
In southern california Ive used scott's for years on my tall fescue lawn, ive never had any clumping or problems, but Im ready to try something new 😎
The Sta-green fertilizer that Lowes sells works just as good for me as when I could buy the over priced Lesco stuff.
Yard Mastery also has some great options that are rather inexpensive comparing it to most companies
Which is the home depot brand?

Great video! Thank you for sharing. 👍👍 Would adding Humichar with Andersons New Lawn Fertilizer when over-seeding in the Fall be overkill?
I use the Anderson humic acid ...great results my lawn looks amazing....I look for fertilizer with iron in them ...
What would you recommend as a weed preventer? Also a good weed killer?
You can chemically get rid of it. but you are better off doing it with the dethatcher like in this video, easy and quick: th-cam.com/video/NnmaQKh4VWE/w-d-xo.html Thank you also for the kind words
you need to aerate because of drainage issues,,you probably have compacted soil or clay and the water stays on top wear moss will grow
I live in Maumee, Ohio, the home for the Andersons. We've always known they are the best for fertilizers!
I've got a shaded area that just won't grow any grass. I've tried multiple blends , shade mixes and ziltch. The patch seems to be growing
larger every year too. I've had sod brought in and "professional" nettings with the seeds in them ...still nothing. I'm tired of dumping
$2 grand in everytime they say they'll fix the area.
I aerate in the spring and summer, don't have thatch...but the soil is only about 2.5 to 3.0 inches of soil and then it's clay underneath.
It's also on the bottom of a small hill (less than a foot from the rest of the yard) and I find that most seeds will accumulate in bunches
after the first rain.
I'm at my wits end . This year I'm going to just try to continually seed it. With aerating (liquid...which I've never used) hoping the soil stays
loose enough for the seeds to bury themselves) I mean seed it every 7 days and keep with the same watering schedule (3 times /week)
that has the rest of my yard looking strong and healthy...that I've done for the last 25 years.
Any advice on a situation like this ?
Maybe the soils been contaminated
@@colfrankslade yeah,I would do a ph test, your soil might need adjusting

Should I use the Tenacity/Mesotrione first and wait a couple of weeks to feed? I really don't want to feed the crabgrass. Thanks in advance!
One question I can use this fertilizer all year long or is it best to put it on a certain time?
Great video! This will be my first season following your lawn care recommendations!!
Would you say its better to use liquid aeration product first and then spread this?
I still bought some Milorganite this year but Anderson’s is probably the best I’ve used. The Bio Char with Humic I applied in the fall and the lawn looked great in the Spring as well.
The humichar is just out of this world expensive though last time I checked it was 90 bucks last year..
my local Turf Supply has biochar and humic acid granular for 40 bucks
Milorganite is great don't be ashamed of it everyone loves Milorganite and you can't deny the results pretty much everyone I know uses it stronger than bag rate..
I know somebody that uses starter fertilizer twice a year, lawn looks fantastic all year long
And you won’t be mowing every two days. I just mow my weeds, it is a lot cheaper.

Which spreader are you using. Thanks !
Can I mix and match? The one you use in addition to the “ Deep Green“ 24-0-11?
Andersons is one of the most expensive when you figure in pounds to the ground. Their fertilizer is more like spoon feeding several times a season. Great product but cost wise it is not cheap and there are issues with availability.
I agree. So what do you use instead? I'm willing to try anything. Thanks
Agreed, it’s way too expensive!!!
Good morning.
Great video.
Does lawn fertilizer need to have iron ?
I talked to several landscapers in the area and nearly all of them like Triple 12 (12-12-12) which is sold at a nearby feed store. They also sell a 12-0-12 which is good for established lawns.
i am using agways 19-19-19 with awesome results
Should i always look for the fertilizer with the highest NPK? Or a well balanced mix of NPK? is iron a must? thanks
Not true chicken manure, soaking it in water to make tea spray it on . That’s the best and cheapest
Lawn looks perfect. What part of MA are you in?
Back in the 70's Lesco had a 18-5-9 50% organic Nitrogen....used it on all grasses, great results
Can you use the PGA complete Spring and Fall? You don’t need to mix the NPK ratios?
Your lawn always looks so good. What is your grass type? I know you use Black Beauty, but fescue, rye, kbg?
Pretty sure he said fescue in a previous video, but not 100% on that.
Would love to hear a liquid fertilizer, cause I need to spray. I have a steep hill, so pushing a fertilizer doesn’t work.
Great fertilizer, it has worked amazing on my lawn and customers lawns as well!!!
If my lawn has weeds, dandelion etc should I still use this fertilizer or use one that prioritizes weed/dandelion removal?
If you have weeds then you need to put down a pre-emergent and post-emergent. Those are separate from fertilizing.
Automatic. Solid. Trust me.
