Congratulation to the finalists! Great tight action 🥳 Can‘t wait to see the finals! The soapbox comes from the „Neckel-racing-team“. Family project. Painted by our 5 years old daughter. She was so happy to see it race down your track!!! Thank you!
Thank you, Schotty. We don't have a "Susan" like 3DBOTMAKER, but after that misstep, Richard and Aaron are gonna need more help! Please tell your daughter that I absolutely love how she painted it!
WOW!! Amazing tight racing, could have gone to anyone, as we all know. You could run these same 4 cars down 10 more times and keep having different results. Well done GTR!! Can't wait for the FINALS!!
You certainly competed like a champ! I could run all 4 EVs again and guarantee you that the outcome would be different. That's how competitive this semi-final was.
I would expect nothing less from this group of Superior Builders... Some Great, Close Racing in this one, and I'm sure the finals will be just as epic... And you've got to love the 'Hold My Beer Guys' risking life and limb in the mystery car halftime show! Well done Fellas!!!✌😎🏁

@@Chris_Hood well, I made it this far. I’ll be happy with anywhere I finish. A win would be nice, but I’m not the fastest car out there, clearly. I’ll have to rely on my drifting and driving skills to get me the points I need 💪🏼💪🏼
So much about this show that sets it far apart from the crowd ❤️ Besides the train, the Joker Lane and drifting on Mesa Butte, we have The Scrambler at the end for a final challenge! And that's just track design. I could hold forth for some time about production quality 😉
Cheese and Rice, this was close. Here I am yelling at the computer screen and then I remember the outcome is already finished. I predicted the high point car and the other car to move on. WOW. Thanks to all entries. It was a very tough race. I need to calm down a bit. ALSO, I hope the Half Time entry makes themselves known. Nice entry. Thanks guys. I saw where Bay City likes the inside lane(closest to me) and flew down that lane. You were right, must have had some kind of "electric" rocket, hahaha. This was a lot of beatin' and Battlin' the whole race. Today I race my 6 wagons and ship them out. I know I am cutting it close but it will be there.

@@gravitythrottleracingah okay thanks a lot for these answers! It looks pretty great, but I told you that already. This is pure genius creativity to put a train on a diecast racing set up. This gives something else to the footage. I love it.
@@lobotomyscam1051I agree that GTR is on the rise…. And Mark is just a REALLY amazing dude. 🤙🏼🤙🏼. Lots of great folks in this hobby. I can’t wait to see where we are at in the next 2-5 years. Who knows… maybe we will be a 4d, 5d, and a 6d 😂;)
I will admit that the first time I watched your races, the drift and the scrambler drove me nuts and I found it annoying. But thanks to a friend I gave it a second chance and am now hooked. I especially appreciated your analysis video after this new track premiered, and the 'how I made it' series as it was being built. I'm a little jealous of all you handy, skilled folks that can build these things. I can barely use a hammer. 😆
I really appreciate your comment, Eric. I can understand your point of view. There are times the drift pad and Scrambler drive me nuts, too. The builders have had to adjust their focus, which can be frustrating. But then there are moments when two cars do something phenomenal on the drift pad or Scrambler, and i swear there are little drivers inside. Thanks for giving it a second chance.
I just stumbled upon these races yesterday, and watched a bunch. I have questions... Not a question, but these are all modded to some extent, yeah? In this type of race, when cars spin, hit the wall, drift, etc., do you think the car's length plays any role? Like, do shorter cars do any better? Are there weight classes? A weight limit? Do the cars HAVE TO BE modded? To what extent? Fun videos, and I didn't expect to be sucked in so quickly.
Great questions! Yes, all are modified with added weight at a minimum. There are a couple things that factor into good drifting. Generally, a 50/50 weight distribution is the goal. Longer wheelbase can help, but it really depends on the HW and skill of the builder. A builder in Canada sent 2 mini Coopers and they drift very well (see Clone Wars from last summer on my playlist). I usually have a 60 gram weight limit. Some builders polish the axles, use graphite, build custom chassis, etc. Hope this answers your questions.
@SD_Marc Also, yes... the cars have to be modded, otherwise they are too light and often don't make it all the way down. The sweet spot for a weight range is probably 52 to 57 grams. The time record holder was 56.6g. Too heavy and fast, and it bounces off the drift wall and gets slowed up. Too light, and the dnfs become an issue.
@@gravitythrottleracing ahh. Good to know. I believe I heard a commentator say rubber tires don't do well on this style track. Makes sense. Too grippy. Just saw the Canadian minis. That's a fun race format.
Wichita? It's been 35 years since I lived there, but I can't seem to remember a Shavano Mountain. Is that over there by Harry and Rock Rd? And who are the local drivers?
Haha! Yep, Kansas is a little too flat for a Shavano Mtn. Maybe the Shavano Flint Hills? I grew up in Colorado where Shavano Mtn resides. There's a local group that has tournaments almost every weekend. The group is ICT-DRL.

Just for my clarification: Why is Bay City Darrell receiving an extra point on race 6? He is jumping over the last rail car of the train. But: Isn't the point zone for each section marked with these golden stripes on the rail cars? Thus the end of the chance to receive points at all is marked already on the penultimate rail wagon. If that applies, it is a draw for 2nd place between Puff and Bay City Darrell in the total. Just saying...
That's a great question! In past seasons, I would give 1 extra point for "crossing the train". When I added the gold strips, I wasn't sure how I would award extra points. After doing some test runs, I settled on the 4,3,2, and 1, BUT... after filming the first group race, I decided to honor the "crossing the train" rule by granting 1 point past the last gold strip. So, basically, the last gold strip doesn't mean anything. I should have removed the strip to avoid confusion. Let me reassure you that the extra point scoring has stayed consistent throughout this tournament.
@@gravitythrottleracing Thanks for replying and explaining your scoring system. Highly appreciated. Keep it up! Regards from Germany (from where else would such a nitpicking question come from ;-) )
I'm honestly kinda surprised you haven't done anything to secure that hill next to the timer. It just keeps on breaking off every time a car collides with it.
