      @The One Who Knocks Invading Iraq to find supposed weapons of mass destruction is a good start. There were no weapons, and where thousands of Iraqi civilians, including innocent women and children (not to mention US and coalition soldiers) needlessly died. It was a monumental blunder perpetrated by himself and the then UK prime minister Tony Blair; both of whom orchestrated the war (which is still ongoing by the way) and should be brought to justice by the International Court of Justice and be tried for War crimes and Crimes against Humanity.

      You guys always assume they had a civil war and these poor Nicaraguans were just fleeing. It has always been the elite in Latin America against the rest. As soon as the majority there lets their voices be heard the rich ask for our military. And start running here in the meantime. Same thing in Venezuela now.

      Rough estimates conclude around half a million Iraqi people were killed in a war that had no reason to be started, don't you think that pissed those people off and probably created more terrorists and more deaths and we're supposed to believe that the guy who started it so his billionaire buddies could make more money is a hero, you think the Bush family gives a shit about working class america and the soldiers who gave their lives. If it wasn't for the U.S poking its nose into the foreign affairs of muslim countries (ie putting Sadam Hussein into power in the first place) then 911 would have never happened. We created the terrorists in the first place, Osama BinLaden was originally employed and trained by the CIA during the 80's in the russian/afghan war as a freedom fighter, he in turn created Al Qaeda with our help to fight the russians so terrorism is entirely our fault, as is the deaths of any Americans who have died from terrorists created and trained by our own government, all true, look it up.

    • @rodolfodoce
      @rodolfodoce 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Peter Parker I would even argue that the USA is training and arming Isis fighters. if not for the Russians the caliphate would've gotten bigger and stronger.
      who is buying the oil produced in Isis controlled areas?
      why didn't the nato countries bombed the shit out of these oil refineries?
      Isis makes a estimated 2 million dollars a day selling said oil. look it up. and Isis is using USA weapon systems. wake the fuck up

    • @alexmcgregor7082
      @alexmcgregor7082 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The leadership of Isis is the broken remains of the Iraqi Military leadership and Sadams security services, our old allies who we sold arms to and trained with our school of the americas special forces 'observers'. Yeah its quite the chess game they play.

    Gotta love when people say "he made a mistake and he'll have to live with it". No, everyone will have to live with it. The government isn't allowed to make mistakes because those mistakes can cost lives. Those mistakes can lead to inequality. Those mistakes can lead to the acceptance and tolerance of future mistakes. It is the job of our government to avoid mistakes at all cost because it is of the utmost importance to the nation as a whole. The fact that these mistakes keep happening quite regularly disgusts me. Clearly this shows we have a major flaw in our government.

    I just spent almost a month in South Carolina where "thank you for your service" is a mantra if it is known that you served. My 95year old father goes around with his WWII Veteran's cap mainly because it gets that applause. I love my dad, but he and my mom had me during the early phases of that war partly because men with families were not being drafted. Then the build-up to D-Day began and the rules were altered to put him on the list. So, a day late and a dollar short, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps for training that again, kept him from getting to see any action. Is it any surprise that he loves W. and the Fox news version of "reality". W. did much the same, and then used privilege of birthright to get selected. We have developed a hereditary neo-monarchistic streak in this country that our founding fathers would abhor. South Carolina, a colony founded by English Monarchy Restorationists, has not strayed far from that impulse it would seem.

    When we talk about war in Iraq (or any other), why we never talk about civilian victims (over 100 000 in Iraq)?
    "Various scientific surveys of Iraqi deaths resulting from the first four years of the Iraq War estimated that between 151,000 to over one million Iraqis died as a result of conflict during this time. A later study, published in 2011, estimated that approximately 500,000 Iraqis had died as a result of the conflict since the invasion. Counts of deaths reported in newspapers collated by projects like the Iraq Body Count project found 174,000 Iraqis reported killed between 2003 and 2013, with between 112,000-123,000 of those killed being civilian noncombatants."

      +Billy Magada A lot of people do it coming out of public school in order to get a college education. It's not a terrible thing for everyone, but young people shouldn't be encouraged to sign up to put their lives on the line just so they won't have to suffer through crippling debt in order to receive a college education (especially in cases of horribly corrupt wars like the war in Iraq, or God forbid if Trump becomes president). If a rich kid and a poor kid graduate with similar academic success, the rich kid can go straight to college, the poor kid has to consider whether he should go to such an extreme as to join the military in order to receive higher education. It shouldn't be that way. That is inequality.

I agree that there's a case to be made for Bush's being a war criminal (on the basis of all the torture that went on) but I also think that the people flailing their arms about his warcrimes should have been adamant about intervening in Iraq and Rwanda during the genocides that took place there. The invasion of Iraq involved a colossal amount of strategic mistakes but I think it should have taken place way before it did.
    I'm a Scandinavian leftist so you know my biases.

      Do you mean with regards to military interventions? South Korea is more or less a hostage of the North Koreans due to the proximity of Seoul to the border.
      I think the situation is absolutely calamatous in North Korea and as soon as there's an opening, there should be an international coalition that invades the country and removes the regime there. The heavy sanctions enforced on the country harm only the poor and needy while the party elites will always be able to manage no matter how tough the sanctions become.
      Just because something is not technically war that doesn't mean the things going on in NK are absolutely atrocious. The same with the sanctions on Iraq during the Clinton administration that killed more people than died in the Iraq war. Who knows how many have died because of the sanctions in North Korea.

      STOP
      "the muslims" - Do you mean as a whole or with regards to the immigration crisis? I don't believe in gods so I would prefer if there were less people that don't than do. But I think the Muslims that come to Europe should properly assimilate to our secular culture and adopt our values to the extent that it's possible.
      I don't think multiculturalism is basis for a functioning society if there is not a leading secular culture that demands certain things of its citizens. In our case, it is European enlightenment values and equal rights and all that jazz.

    Can't shake off the feeling that its somehow 'trendy' to bash Bush. I'll be honest, I have no idea about the iraq war, maybe Bush is a war criminal and what not.
    But the way people so eagerly and quickly jump on the wagon when somebody starts to criticize him feels very wrong. I have no problem if he is ridiculed, I've got an issue with how people join in en masse. Hate him as a mob.
    I cant believe that all those people who joined the crowd actually know what happened in Iraq. Hating Bush and saying something that sounds warm and fuzzy. All this stuff feels like the 'justified hatred' regressives always fall back on.

      GruntSquad92 Hmmmm, let's see, Bobothecreepyclown in the comment section summed it up pretty neatly: "Bush started an illegal war, lied to make the case for it, sanctioned murder, torture, kidnapping & illegal detention. He violated every international convention as to the conduct of war, tore up the constitution & created a military/intelligence/police bureaucracy that would make Stalin flinch. GWB & all the other PNAC neo-con fanatics are criminals & should be rotting in prison."
      That's without mentioning that he is a complete delusional prick who thought that he was doing a religious holy war in Irak. He caused so many deaths for his delusion of grandeur. He also flipped the finger to the US's oldest ally, France, when he found out that the French opposed the war for lack of evidence of WMD. He then made Americans believe that the French supported terrorists just because they didn't want to join in his shitty war.

  • @bobjones4469

    1) Bush is not a "war criminal" just because he went to war, especially since it was in response to an attack and many, if not most, American's did support it. Whether you think the war was a mistake or not, the act of going to war itself does not make you a war criminal. You can hate his guts for the war if you want but to call him a war criminal for it is beyond absurd.
    2) This is not WWII or Vietnam where young men were drafted and forced to go to war. All the US soldiers in the Middle East joined the military by choice and, from what I hear, most of them want to be there. Doesn't make them less deserving of respect though, they're still risking their lives. even if The Middle East wars are no nearly as dangerous WWII or Vietnam was.
    3) From what I've heard about why the government did not respond the 9/11 memos: they get memos about crazy stuff like that all time, if they had to take every single one of them seriously, it would be chaos. At the time, it was unthinkable that an attack would occur so they didn't take it that seriously. Ironically, after the attack, they arguably took it too seriously with the Patriot Act.

      +Bob Jones Actually what's "beyond absurd" are comments like this being made after all we know now. BUSH WENT TO WAR AGAINST A COUNTRY THAT DIDN"T ATTACK US, GET IT? Sure most Americans supported it because they were duped into thinking that there was link between Saddam and the attackers and that Saddam had WMDs. The government spreads the lies and the media bangs the drums of support instead of asking hard questions. The ones that do object and raise questions (like Phil Donahue) are fired or accused of being unpatriotic. Also, who said anything about disrespecting the troops? What evidence do you have that the Middle East is not nearly as dangerous as WW2 or Vietnam? Do you think that it disrespects the troops when the State Dept. hires mercenaries to fulfill military roles in Iraq and pays them far more than regular soldiers make?

    • @Ioganstone
      @Ioganstone 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dash Riprock George Bush said the threat of WMDs. And that was entirely true at the time, Iraq didn't allow inspections into presidential palaces just like 1998.
