    This is from Title Match Network's exclusive new series with the legendary Greg Valentine.
    Find out why the Hammer says the Polish Powerhouse, Ivan Putski didn't like to sell during his matches. If you remember, Putski was one of the strongest competitors to ever grace a World Wrestling Federation ring.
    Though Valentine and Putski would work together a lot in the 80s for Vince McMahon, they also wrestled as far back as 1973 when Greg was known as one of the Fargo Brothers.

    One of the reasons I love Greg's interviews is he gives technical and "business" related information about the subject, and then even when he is critical of another wrestler, he still will give compliments and positive comments so he doesn't come across as being a bitter old jerk like a lot of guys do. Greg is really a class act.

      You beat me to it, these interviews with Greg Valentine are great, I love how he goes in depth about the wrestler he's talking about and yet, he'll say that Putski was tough to work with and then closes it out with a complement. I've watched a number of these interviews and Valentine never has anything bad to say about anyone which is the complete opposite of listening to an Ole Anderson interview as Anderson always seems to come off as a bitter old man.

    The Hammer was the IC champ for 285 days back when having titles were hard to come by. Seems like everyone gets a belt in AEW. Just like all these kids today getting participation trophies. Greg Valentine was the real deal.

    What a great wrestler and ambassador for the greatness of 70’ and 80’s professional wrestling! I was a wee lad when the Hammer was in his prime and he was a top heel so I disliked him then. Now I really appreciate him and what he means to the sport.

  • @aeromedical6776
    @aeromedical6776 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    I would not want to mess with Greg Valentine in his prime. He was as tough as a bear and could go all day. That combination of natural strength and conditioning would have made for a very bad day for anyone who got in an actual street fight with him.

    I love his interviews. Even sparked my memory when I was 12, and my dad took me to the Richfield coliseum, and he was feuding with Beefcake. I made a big sign, "ban the barber" (i loved heels), and he winked, and kinda gave a thumbs up. I'm sure he did that every night, but it still warms my heart to this day.

    I love Greg valentine. back in the day when I would see him on TV I really hated him but I knew I would see a good match. he was one of the heels that I really loved to hate but I always watched him intently because he was so good. it's nice to see him now talking about everything and I can see what a nice guy he really is. I wish I could see more of him. thanks for posting the interview and I hope you can do more interviews with him

    I hated this guy when I was 8-10 years old back in the late 70's early 80's. Not so much anymore. Looking back on his career, great worker and comes off as a real class guy for one who's been through the grind of that industry for so many years.

    I used to watch Valentine Saturday mornings in the early 80s when he both teamed and then feuded with Flair in Mid-Atlantic. I thought his matches against Flair were classic and always had a big fight feel even though, as was the norm back then, the matches were in a television studio with a small crowd. The MAIN reason I wanted to post a comment though is to say that I'm really surprised with how good Greg is on the mic in this kind of setting. He's a great interview. He's very interesting and if he had a podcast I'd bet money that it would find a good-sized audience.

    I distinctly remember a match between Valentine and Putski in which Valentine locked in the figure 4, and Putski clearly yelled "no" when asked if he quit, then the ref called for the bell and awarded the match to Valentine, despite continued protests from Putski. Even the commentators acted like it was a legit submission. Screwjob, possibly?
