This is my cover of "Rydeen" by Japanese band Yellow Magic Orchestra, from their groundbreaking 1979 album Solid State Survivor. YMO were pioneers of synth-pop and electronic music in general, and were extremely influential to electronic music scenes across the world for decades to come. In addition, their massive success in Japan also went on to influence many video game composers of the 80's and early 90's.
By the way, if you're unfamiliar with YMO, I encourage you to check out their 1980 Budokan performance of this song - their live rig was insane, and must have been such a complicated technical feat to pull this off at each show:

This is incorrect. There is no doubt that almost 100% of youth musicians have been affected in Japan since the 1980s. It's still a bible of music.👌?
Great point - I didn't mean to imply that their influence ended in the 90's, or was limited to only video game composers; I just wanted to bring special emphasis to the fact that they inspired many early video game composers, since that era of video game music is of particular interest to me!
