Mike Your A WORKERBEE. I DID HEAVY HIGHWAY construction for 24 years. That’s what the Carpenters , (I’m a Union Laborer in Western New York. ). We Called Hard Worker’s. WorkaBee. God Bless, Fantastic Job Mike 😛😉
I always double check your older videos before I start that part of my bus. I am about to add some fans and a skylight to mine. I don't have a metal break and I was trying to measure everything on paper trying to form the flashing with a table, 2x4s and a clamp. You covered all yours with tape anyway. I am thinking about skipping the metal and covering the wood directly with the roofing tape now. It's also funny to go back and see unfinished walls and missing cabinets, now that you're watching TV in your bus and all.
@@BussyMcBusface I still wasn't 100% on the idea lol until this comment! But if you're thinking it's alright I am more confident. Probably building it this weekend. Thanks for filming all this and teaching the rest of us.
Hello, Guys, you are some of my favorite people to watch! I hope to meet you guys someday! Man, Mike, you have some killer tools! I need to pick your brain a little, I need to build 2 murphy beds so when taken down to sleep in those 2 beds will become one big bed!Or just one If your the only one taken a nap. BC of those dang breathers and motor back there at the end of my bus. I'm still upset over that! I may never get over it LMBO
This reminded me of a Tiny Home Tour video I saw with two beds that fold out and meet in the middle ~ somehow I actually found the one I was looking for! She finally shows the bed at 42:50 th-cam.com/video/P8qKtU0i_o0/w-d-xo.html
I'm dying!!! That's me 😂😂😂😂😂 I was not expecting that's haha you guys are so awesome!! The hatches look amazing, it just goes to show what you can make when you have the knowledge and the right tools!! You guys are awesome and thank you so much for the shout out!
@@GustheStruggleBus & Bussy McBusface, I love both of your builds and have watched many of your videos! I like both of your skylight hatch builds and am hoping to do a combination of them in my bus this week!
Great video! When fabricating outdoor wood frames don't forget a thing called Trex Decking. It comes in many standard framing sizes and it totally waterproof and won't absorb moisture.
Great detail work brother I like how you think outside the box brother Thanks for sharing that I bought my skylights with the flashing on them it cost lot but worth it . I can appreciate how much work that was plus filming the whole things great job buddy.
@@BussyMcBusface absolutely she's your better half and her camera and editing is top notch extra points to you little lady thanks for all your hard work too You make each video fun to watch and I love the music you use. You two make a cute couple and it shows by how much fun your having building your dream together it doesn't get any better than that, thanks again.
Hey Mike and Kerry, yet another great video and a great job on the skylights.. Looking forward to the next one and great to see you Kerry.. You two must have many friends from all over the place but if ever you would like something from England just say as it would be my pleasure to send to you.. Take care my favourite people...
Damn fine skylight! I am thinking about welding on a marine hatch on our skoolie build if I can find one. I'm way behind you folks! Just now finishing the mechanical rebuild, fingers crossed!
That's what we wanted but they were so darn expensive. Gilligan Phantom did that and they turned out pretty good but he bought the last two of that model on earth so...
@@BussyMcBusface If I have to, I might fabricate from steel and weld them. I am thinking of a long skylight over the elevated king bed in back. I want for my wife and I to be able to see stars while resting and climb onto the roof deck from the bed. I also don't have your woodworking skills, Mike!
Thanks for the inspirational videos. I love your honesty quirkinesses. I’m a retired Paramedic, do it yourselfer, pilot (current job), photography and more craziness. I’m shopping busses now, planning to buy in the next month. I love travel, adventure and the southwest. I lived in Arizona as a kid. My favorites are Utah and Colorado. I’m still trying to decide on nine window or full length. I’d like a garage, but that limits bedroom options (shrinks the living space). Did you pull the ceiling and add insulation or just stick with stock? Since I’ll have to compensate for all the windows thermal inefficiently anyway (I like all the light), it makes me wonder if pulling down the ceiling is worth the extra time. Do you plan on sharing email in the future? It would be great to visit after my Skoolie is complete. Cheers
We didnt pull our ceiling. Kerry is "allergic" to cold so we are going to see a lot of extreme temperatures in our travels. Our email is bussymcbusfacemail@gmail.com 😁
As always a very informative and entertaining video. Really enjoy your videos, sometimes wonder where your mind is going with these projects. At first I thought you were putting duct tape on that skylight but I should have known better!
G’day Mike very good job just one thing are you going to put some kind of latching so it will stay up? The whole bus is coming along really nicely the woodwork is terrific, kind regards John PS your always happy Kerry it’s lovely to see how you both interact on this build.
Mike what did/do you do in order to have all the equipment? You have a break? Lol..Also, how long does a project take? Youve got to have head scratching moments..You two are doing a fantastic job. Hope to see you and the bus in person someday!
You know, my philosophy on this is to use the right tool for the job so we have spent a lot of money procuring the tools we need as we reach that point. It will be fun to meet you on the road!
You need a strap on the opposite latch side of the hatch to prevent blow over (piano hinge tear out) and a rod support mechanism to allow upright positions that you want,. i.e., a glide rod mechanism.
Love the Bus,Yawl have great work ethic and skill!!! BUT those damn FLIP FLOPS would have to go I have hit my wife's toes feet so many times and yet she still wears them shes tougher than a pine knot!!! NICE JOB!!! Yeah N.C.
Oops, square corners on a vehicle opening is a stress point and may lead to metal cracking. That is why they make airplane windows with rounded corners. Look up the story of the Comet airplane and how it broke apart in mid flight.
I would have done the rear skylight so it opens as well thus getting NATURAL VENTILATION flow through the bus......well maybe ya can do that BEFORE you apply the Henrys!
We have like 20 windows in the bus. I doubt natural ventilation will be a problem!😁 It was a huge pain to build the first one and we overused the materials we had so we just decided, to hell with it!
If someone is going to break into your bus, I don't think that they will bother to crawl onto the roof and then in. I would think that a well placed rock would do the trick on one of those windows.
No days off till you’re done mistah!!!
Mike! Dude! Plumber, Carpenter, Electrician, Sheet Metal Fabricator! Talk about self-reliant! You are the epitome of "Tha Man!"
I love how he made up his own word and gave us the definition 🤣
"Weed in tow" lol:) I didn't think it was possible, but I think Mike has more tools than my husband has!
My favorite part was the little "Mexican Dance Steps" Mike did on the flashing! Ha-cha-cha!!!!!
HA-CHA-CHA!😂😂😂😂😂

Once again, great video and very informative. Love the "Meredith & Paco" pop up video. They are a funny couple to watch and learn from too.

That tape is what is used to patch Refridge truck's when a hole get's punched in them,Also they sell that flashing in ten foot length's.

Yes we are in fact. It may be some kind of locking slide rail or a pneumatic strut. Haven't decided yet. Maybe both!
I think you have every tool a person can have! Is your bus just for vacations or are you going to live in it?
We are going to live in it. I am building a home for us and it might be a forever home!
Mike, may i ask why you used plywood on the inside of them, and would just a common board work of?
In case that the bus start moving during rain, or a windy day, the flashing rubber will drain.

Great Job! Just wondering why you guys did skylights and didn't put Fantastic Fans or Max Fans in at least one of the hatch holes?
We are putting them on but not in that giant hole.
You need a strap on the opposite latch side of the hatch to prevent blow over (piano hinge tear out) and a rod support mechanism to allow upright positions that you want,. i.e., a glide rod mechanism.

You have every tool, to make your bus look amazing. Can I pay you to make something’s for me
😁 probably a long as it won't take too long. Gotta finish this bus!
Can anybody find a link to that exact pocket hole jig? A girl’s got a build cupboards right!
This exact pocket jig exists in one place in our storage unit right now because I custom added the pneumatic ram to hold the wood.
Oops, square corners on a vehicle opening is a stress point and may lead to metal cracking. That is why they make airplane windows with rounded corners. Look up the story of the Comet airplane and how it broke apart in mid flight.
there is a bit of a difference in speed. Dont see it being a problem on bus
God I wish I had all the tools. Wanna come do mine!? Lol
Kerry..... thats not the correct type of flashing.. or maybe it is 😉

Its 22" x 22"
