I think that in season we also need to work with fast power, like you said 4x2 and also something like 4x3 or 4x4 but with lighter loads and in more explosive variant.
Thank you for this. If you had an athlete (early HS) that didn’t do much or any training in the off season or pre-season, what kind of training would you have him doing in season if he wanted to train?
Probably still low volume power based training. He probably won’t be able to recover as well though so it would be a tough trade off between not wanting to do too much and impair performance but also doing enough training to see benefit
Hey Matt! I have a question. How can I maximize youth soccer players' performance without a gym facility for strength training? My thought is that I would use resistance bands and include calisthenics and isometric training to build strength, but how can I measure the intensity or how heavy can I load them during pre-season for example?

Your videos are great!! keep them coming. I like how you simplify each concept into very usable information.
Glad you like them!
Very well explained sir thank you so much.
You're welcome
Thanks
thanks for this video!

Great video!Thanks so much ☺️
Hey man great stuff, can you make a video breaking down undulating periodization?
Yes I will

Thank you very much for this content. May I ask if you have something similar for endurance athletes?
Not yet but that would be a good topic to cover
I wish you love and luck always ❤️
How would you suggest players who’s season was disrupted by the coronavirus change and should they go to completely off season or some hybrid system?
I would recommend off season training for the time being if possible. Circuits/ GPP work is easy to program at home or outside.

does this also apply to swimmers, when you train them on their dry land training?
Yes the principles are the same
Why do we build muscle endurance in off season instead of hypertrophy (max 12reps)?
You could spend blocks of training on either based on your athlete needs analysis
Make this periodization video again for 2025
