went on it twice last week. slightly rough and abrupt brake at the end but wasn't painful for me at all and the layout is still pretty good. the foot chopper barrel roll is great
I rode Kong for the first time at the beginning of April and I can confidently say its the most rough and indeed painful coaster I've been on. The layout was good but my neck and shoulders did hurt afterwards. If DK worked on trying to upkeep it better I don't think it would get as much hate as it does.
There's been plenty of times that I've gotten bad rides on coasters before; X2 gave me a minor concussion in 2019, but at the beginning of this month, it was running incredibly smooth. It all depends on the ride's most recent maintenance cycle tbh!

You've got a good opinion on things. I've always been an Arrow fan growing up. And I also enjoyed riding the big apple coaster in vegas the few times I did on my 21 b-day. And also to be honest I think my worst coaster experience was riding the revolution at magic mountain when it still had O.T.S restraints.
I honestly love Kong. It was one of the two roller coasters I went on when my collar bone was healing after I broke it😬 (I know I shouldn’t have but oh well). I can tide that coaster over and over again lol.
The first time I went on Kong I was in the very front, and got no whip lash. The second time, I sat in the middle and I got a tremendous amount of whip lash. It may just depend on where you sit on the ride.
If you like the intensity of Kong then you’ll love Riddler Revenge at SNFE and Great Nor’Easter at Moreys Piers. Both of them have vest restraints so there is no head banging and Nor’Easter had some track work done and it’s very smooth
Can't wait to try those out! I was originally gonna visit SFNE this summer, but it will be an inconvenience and I'm gonna have to skip it for now, but I'm sure I'll get around to those eventually!
As much as I hated Kong when I went to the park 2 days ago, I can’t deny that it is the most intense coaster although all of the coasters are intense to some degree. The weird turn and double twist on Kong are really strong elements.
Can't wait to get back and ride kong to refresh my memory. But what I know it's not as bad as they make it out to be. It's rough but having ridden scream and medusa lately I can't picture kong being over extremely more rough than those.
I personally think that Kong isn't any worse than Viper; I feel like those two have extremely similar levels of roughness, hopefully you have a good experience!

This is my homework so I love it of course but I have to admit that Discovery Kingdom has the weirdest line up of rides. Every single roller coaster goes upside down except for the kiddie coaster. Three of them go through the station a bunch which is cool but it happens more than every park. It also has 4 clones! At least it has a cool full on zoo in the back which is cool. It’s weird but I still love it.
I rode Kong 2 weeks ago. I do agree with you that it was really fun, but it was kind of hard to pay attention to what was even happening, as my head was banging side to side the whole ride. My ears were throbbing, and my head was sore for the rest of the day. My glasses almost fell off as well, and I think that you can agree - that would not be a pleasant experience to try and get them back.
Was here last weekend. The only ride that wasn’t open was Flash, which apparently has been closed for a while for a touch up. The three missing rides form this video are Batman, Boomerang and Sidewinder (a wild mouse). In the grand scheme of things, with all coasters open, this is not a bad park for $40. In mid-November the lines are practically non-existent, which mean you can easily ride all coasters twice and also have lunch all within 5 hours or less, depending on how much head banging and shaking you can tolerate. The one thing this park is missing is a hyper coaster. Easy to say from my vantage point, but I honestly think that with something Goliath-like (Magic Mountain), it would put this park over the top from most parks with 7 to 10 coasters.
Yup there will actually! I do have a handful of Knott's and SFMM vids to get through first, but it will probably be uploaded next week or the week after!

@@M-NL2 Scream is great ride yet a little ugly over the parking lot. Though I do remember it having a nasty rattle in 2015 after the repaint but has since gotten a lot smoother. The same I felt about Riddler after it's repaint. Seems like it takes some time for the trains to break into the new paint.
Yes !Kong was always my favorite as a kid and I never got why every video shits on it I haven’t gone to discovery kingdom in a long time but I’m going there in a couple of weeks again !
I've ridden the SLC's in many parks. I agree that they are very intense, but I would've ridden them multiple times if it weren't for the OTS restraint hovering right by my ears. I've heard that Vekoma actually made more comfortable restraints for SLC, which I'm really looking forward to.
I rode kong (and all the other roller coaster on this list) for the first time today. It was very rough wich felt kind of thematic, but the handles on the restants had to be made for aliens, they were honestly kinda uncomfortable. Overall Medusa was my favorite because it was very fun and has such a short line. Although I agree Kong is the most intense because of its head shaking roughness.
when i rode kong it was using a vr experience of a sort of space jet type thing, so i it didnt feel like a riding kong really but a vr experience. in my opinion joker and superman are tied for 1st. i want to ride kong as an actual coaster (vr aside) to see how it compares but ur list seems pretty fair to my experience
kong was the first “real” roller coaster ive ever been on-and honestly i dont find it super thrilling/intense. i find the first drop on joker way more intense and i recommend kong for anyone who wants to ride a roller coaster for the first time. it may be a little rough but it’s totally manageable
Ok, so I've been to DK several times over the past few months and Flash is NEVER running. Kong hasn't been either, but I went today and it was so I went on it 3 times in a row, but the last time, my body said "No more." Lol. I have to agree with you on the Medusa. We don't have as many coasters as MM so of course it's going to be a favorite. I actually think Boomerang is pretty intense also.
I have ridden Kong and T3 at Kentucky Kingdom in terms of SLC and Green Lantern First Flight. These are my 3 least favorite coasters, although Kong is better than the other 2. Kong is a complete head banger for me based on the restraints although it was smoother than T3 remarkably. I'm not looking forward to these in the future and I think the next one I will be ridding is the one at Michigan's Adventure in late summer. They are intense coaster but not enjoyable coasters in the least. I think V2 is more intense than you give it credit for. The launch is a pretty intense moment all things considered.
I agree that Kong is not a super incredible ride, but I just didn't find it to actually be that bad. I actually really loved Green Lantern for how intense it was! As for V2, it just didn't seem to be as aggressive as some other coasters in the park, or other launch coasters in general. For example, I find Xcelerator to have a significantly more powerful launch; maybe it's because I rode Flash 10 times when I was at SFDK and became numb to it lol 😅

I am going on vacation to Seattle next summer and will visit discovery kingdom is it overall a nice park? I’ve never been in a six flags before only in Dutch theme parks 😅
Sadly I don’t think I’ll ever ride a Sky Rocket 2 again. The extreme air time that instantly becomes 4 positive G’s is just too much for me. Starting to get annoyed with positive Gs. My least favorite thing to experience on a coaster at this point in my life
100% agree with disliking positive G's. That's really the main reason as to why I hate Goliath at Magic Mountain. Just way too many positives and they're pretty uncomfortable.
@@M-NL2did you ever get to ride before the brake run slowed to a 3mph crawl? I went to Goliathon in May of 2001 and rode the damn thing 7 or 8 times in a row before I HAD to get off and relax. I was a fricken champ with positive Gs back then, apperantly! Maybe that’s why I can’t handle them anymore lol
The joker was so intense. I went on it with my boyfriend and it was my first coaster ever and I'm petrified of heights. It was so intense that I couldn't work up the courage to ride any others after I felt so bad🤣 I would ride it again tho

If you want, you can just say mnl2 lol, I'm planning on doing my actual name reveal maybe at like 10k subs; but to answer your question, I like to talk about parks that I have either been to or am familiar with; most of my videos are of Magic Mountain, but I do have a few at Knott's, and this one is Discovery Kingdom. This summer I am going to 8 different parks on the east coast, and plan on making videos about those! I might eventually make a video about Disneyland, but that park isn't a place that I visit frequently because of the cost. Hope this answers it! :D
SLCs are overhated but they can definitely benefit from the newer trains that some have. I grew up with Mind Eraser at Darien Lake and thanks to that and Predator I'm impervious to roughness. They might have knocked my soul loose.
Regarding Medusa VS Scream... Sea Serpent Roll > Cobra Roll. V2 was closed both times I've been to SFDK but the best hang time I've experienced is Copperhead Strike at Carowinds..
Eh I wouldn't say that that one element makes a huge difference overall when looking at both rides. Just rode Scream again today and it is still running incredibly!
The only SLC I've ever ridden is HORRENDUS (MindEraser at Elitch Gardens- We call it The Migraine Machine,) but I'll give Kong a shot. Maybe it's maintained better or something.

I went to DK yesterday and I rode Kong and I can say with certainty that it’s the most intense roller coaster at the park (and that’s not a good thing). For me, it was the most painful roller coaster I’ve ever been on (though it really didn’t hurt that much when I rode it for the first time at age 10). But this last time was the worst and I had such a bad headache and neck ache after, and even a full 24 hours after riding it my neck still hurts. In terms of intensity as well as pain, #1 for sure. In terms of fun? Easy last place. I’m so sorry if you love Kong this is just my experience haha Edit: signature rollover really killed my head the most. Didn’t know what that was called but I saw that part at the end of the video and that’s what hurt. Also I had such a horrific grimace on my face it was hilarious 😂
Completely understandable lol! I'm personally really tall and so my head clears the OTSRs, so thats why it doesn't hurt me one bit! I rode Mind Eraser at Six Flags America (which is an identical coaster to this one) 7 times straight and loved it! These things definitely aren't for everyone tho

But yeah, totally not for everyone! I’ve heard mindracer is even worse- that’s great you liked it though! Considering mindracer is basically Kong, I’d probably not like it haha

I'll have to try mind eraser sometime, if I ever go to Six Flags America (probably not likely considering it's in Maryland and I live in california).
I’ve ridden Kong a lot usually because family has never gone on it. Otherwise I’d skip it because of how jerky it is and this is from someone who really enjoyed green lantern at SFMM before it was removed
So I’ve went all on of these except Superman and yet I closed my eyes on Medusa and the ride opened my eyes I believe that Medusa is scarier than Hong Kong just my opinion. Also my man I’m trusting you because I’m going on Batman next week and I didn’t see it here. PS I’m scared of roller coasters.
when I first rode kong on july 15th I get no head banging and no pain afterwards, it seemed they did add some padding that Idk if it was theree before but it helped but i felt no pain on kong,( I took a bunch of ibveprofen before tho)
I like Joker more than TwiCol. Not a fan of the incredible break in pacing of the 2nd lift. They should add a mild launch like at the very start of the ride so it doesn’t take so darn long. And Joker is quite long imo

I agree. It was my favorite despite it being kinda shaky. I remember smiling to myself and feeling so genuinely happy. The leg chop moments were awesome, and like it was mentioned, super intense. I loved the drop too. Pacing, it was great.
It surprises me that Medusa would be intense considering I've been on scream a few times even recently and honestly other than banging my head that ride doesn't really do anything for me the inversions don't really feel that exciting
If you keep your head forward you won't get any headbanging at all on Scream (or Medusa). Also try riding back row on an edge seat; it really amplifies the experience!
Just went to DK for the first time. Didnt get to ride medusa because right before i got on someone had a medical issue and they closed it for the rest of the day, so im glad to hear its basically just scream since ive ridden that enough to not even want to ride it most days lol. I would rank the ones i rode in order from worst to best. Safari sidewinder Cobra Batman The flash Kong Superman The joker Edit....kong is NOT better than Viper at MM lol. Less painful, but not better.
In my opinion Kong is a rough coaster but it is not the worst. To me the only part that was not to comfortable was that hard stop a the end I was not prepared and I hit my head. But it is still an OK 👌 ride
bruv in that one clip of kong you can literally see the entire car snapping to the left right before it enters the brakes, (7:24)that ride is the spawn of broken necks and beaten up ears for me. like you can see the train snap left then their legs snap along with it
Uggghhh Scream is 10 times rougher than Medusa imo. I just rode Medusa all over the train and barely noticed a rattle. Scream has an extreme rattle at the bottom of every hill. I get a headache every time lol I’m never riding it again unless they give it some love
From what I've ridden in six flags DK (5 years ago lol), I would say superman is the most intense, but only because i was a teeny tiny 8 year old and passed out at the top lmao. I still have yet to try the flash, joker, and batman, but they all look really good.
Kong is not the worst coaster I've ridden but it is not great, Desperado is way worse. I also think Joker is a very underrated like Scream, I do understand it may be a bottom tier RMC but a bottom tier RMC is better the most coasters in my opinion.
I've been on 12 RMC's and while Joker is my #11 it is still in my Top 25 overall. Scream's rattle is the issue for me. I don't find that Medusa had that same rattle. Scream isn't horrible it just average. With that said I actually prefer Desperado over both Scream and kong.
Unfortunately I have not been able to ride Desperado because the last few times I went out to Vegas, it's been closed, and I'm not sure if it will ever reopen, as it's been closed since 2019 now I believe :/
One day I rode Kong five times in a row because my cousin and I were the only ones in line, and with just us on the train, it was smooth as butter. One of my favorite rides at the park. (Screw Boomerang though)
Darn maybe I should have tried a back row ride on it. 😭 I'll make sure to try Mind Eraser back row this summer though! Also I agree with you on Boomerang; the one at Knott's was soooo much better, and so was Deja Vu...rip California's good boomerangs 😭
@@M-NL2 Can confirm, back row ride on Kong was the most intense, head-banging, rough, g-force laden experience I've ever had on a Vekoma SLC.... And I've ridden Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens in Denver at least 20 times when my family lived there and Mind Eraser was one of my favorite rides in the park! Me and my youngest brother were fortunate to get a last minute ride on Kong right before they kicked everybody out of the park, so we got to choose exactly what seats we wanted.... The ride operator who was helping us in literally said "You guys are true psychopaths for wanting to ride in the very back, but enjoy!" So... In conclusion.... Can't believe I'm saying this, but Kong was _more intense in terms of forces and roughness_ than Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens! >.< But I agree, I don't get the hate for these types of coasters, they have such a unique experience! Don't knock em till ya try em!

Compared to a Giant Inverted Boomerang I just didn't find the standard boomerang to be as intense or aggressive. That's just me though! ;) Also welcome to the SLC gang 😅

I believe batman should be on this list, But that might be because I consider intensity differently. Plus, I've been on all the rides and. I believe batman was more intense than most of them.
for me, the s&s free spins are just 'fun' and not exactly exhilarating or intense, especially when compared to some wilder coasters out there that I've ridden like X2, Maverick, or Skyrush. Even I305

Theirs something about this park I will never like especially with joker I haven’t been able to get on it since 2017 because it always breaks down I seriously think they have a terrible maintenance team for that ride every time I go it breaks down ever 20-30 minutes throughout the whole day so I don’t bother with it anymore and then they rides at this park make it feel like a couple hours park except for Medusa that’s the only ride to me worth Marathoning

kong was the first “real” roller coaster ive ever been on-and honestly i dont find it super thrilling/intense. i find the first drop on joker way more intense and i recommend kong for anyone who wants to ride a roller coaster for the first time. it may be a little rough but it’s totally manageable
Ok, so I've been to DK several times over the past few months and Flash is NEVER running. Kong hasn't been either, but I went today and it was so I went on it 3 times in a row, but the last time, my body said "No more." Lol. I have to agree with you on the Medusa. We don't have as many coasters as MM so of course it's going to be a favorite. I actually think Boomerang is pretty intense also.
I have ridden Kong and T3 at Kentucky Kingdom in terms of SLC and Green Lantern First Flight. These are my 3 least favorite coasters, although Kong is better than the other 2. Kong is a complete head banger for me based on the restraints although it was smoother than T3 remarkably. I'm not looking forward to these in the future and I think the next one I will be ridding is the one at Michigan's Adventure in late summer. They are intense coaster but not enjoyable coasters in the least. I think V2 is more intense than you give it credit for. The launch is a pretty intense moment all things considered.
I agree that Kong is not a super incredible ride, but I just didn't find it to actually be that bad. I actually really loved Green Lantern for how intense it was! As for V2, it just didn't seem to be as aggressive as some other coasters in the park, or other launch coasters in general. For example, I find Xcelerator to have a significantly more powerful launch; maybe it's because I rode Flash 10 times when I was at SFDK and became numb to it lol 😅
I have ridden Kong and never really thought of it as intense, maybe because the “intensity” was being hindered by the roughness but tbh I don’t see it as number one, maybe Superman or Batman instead.
I am going on vacation to Seattle next summer and will visit discovery kingdom is it overall a nice park? I’ve never been in a six flags before only in Dutch theme parks 😅
Sadly I don’t think I’ll ever ride a Sky Rocket 2 again. The extreme air time that instantly becomes 4 positive G’s is just too much for me. Starting to get annoyed with positive Gs. My least favorite thing to experience on a coaster at this point in my life
100% agree with disliking positive G's. That's really the main reason as to why I hate Goliath at Magic Mountain. Just way too many positives and they're pretty uncomfortable.
@@M-NL2did you ever get to ride before the brake run slowed to a 3mph crawl? I went to Goliathon in May of 2001 and rode the damn thing 7 or 8 times in a row before I HAD to get off and relax. I was a fricken champ with positive Gs back then, apperantly! Maybe that’s why I can’t handle them anymore lol
The joker was so intense. I went on it with my boyfriend and it was my first coaster ever and I'm petrified of heights. It was so intense that I couldn't work up the courage to ride any others after I felt so bad🤣 I would ride it again tho

If you want, you can just say mnl2 lol, I'm planning on doing my actual name reveal maybe at like 10k subs; but to answer your question, I like to talk about parks that I have either been to or am familiar with; most of my videos are of Magic Mountain, but I do have a few at Knott's, and this one is Discovery Kingdom. This summer I am going to 8 different parks on the east coast, and plan on making videos about those! I might eventually make a video about Disneyland, but that park isn't a place that I visit frequently because of the cost. Hope this answers it! :D

SLCs are overhated but they can definitely benefit from the newer trains that some have. I grew up with Mind Eraser at Darien Lake and thanks to that and Predator I'm impervious to roughness. They might have knocked my soul loose.

V2 was closed both times I've been to SFDK but the best hang time I've experienced is Copperhead Strike at Carowinds..
Eh I wouldn't say that that one element makes a huge difference overall when looking at both rides. Just rode Scream again today and it is still running incredibly!
The only SLC I've ever ridden is HORRENDUS (MindEraser at Elitch Gardens- We call it The Migraine Machine,) but I'll give Kong a shot. Maybe it's maintained better or something.

I rode Kong in 2019 and although some find it painful I found it more intense then Orion at kings island wich I rode the following summer.

I rode Kong today and found it to be tolerable, just a bit snappy. I'm not sure if I'd call it more intense than Medusa or the joker though.
I went to DK yesterday and I rode Kong and I can say with certainty that it’s the most intense roller coaster at the park (and that’s not a good thing). For me, it was the most painful roller coaster I’ve ever been on (though it really didn’t hurt that much when I rode it for the first time at age 10). But this last time was the worst and I had such a bad headache and neck ache after, and even a full 24 hours after riding it my neck still hurts. In terms of intensity as well as pain, #1 for sure. In terms of fun? Easy last place. I’m so sorry if you love Kong this is just my experience haha
Edit: signature rollover really killed my head the most. Didn’t know what that was called but I saw that part at the end of the video and that’s what hurt. Also I had such a horrific grimace on my face it was hilarious 😂
Completely understandable lol! I'm personally really tall and so my head clears the OTSRs, so thats why it doesn't hurt me one bit! I rode Mind Eraser at Six Flags America (which is an identical coaster to this one) 7 times straight and loved it! These things definitely aren't for everyone tho

I’ve ridden Kong a lot usually because family has never gone on it. Otherwise I’d skip it because of how jerky it is and this is from someone who really enjoyed green lantern at SFMM before it was removed
I also loved Green Lantern 😭 it was intense, unique, and I didn't actually find it painful! Now I have to go to Canada to ride it 😂

So I’ve went all on of these except Superman and yet I closed my eyes on Medusa and the ride opened my eyes I believe that Medusa is scarier than Hong Kong just my opinion. Also my man I’m trusting you because I’m going on Batman next week and I didn’t see it here. PS I’m scared of roller coasters.
when I first rode kong on july 15th I get no head banging and no pain afterwards, it seemed they did add some padding that Idk if it was theree before but it helped but i felt no pain on kong,( I took a bunch of ibveprofen before tho)

I like Joker more than TwiCol. Not a fan of the incredible break in pacing of the 2nd lift. They should add a mild launch like at the very start of the ride so it doesn’t take so darn long. And Joker is quite long imo

I agree. It was my favorite despite it being kinda shaky. I remember smiling to myself and feeling so genuinely happy. The leg chop moments were awesome, and like it was mentioned, super intense. I loved the drop too. Pacing, it was great.
It surprises me that Medusa would be intense considering I've been on scream a few times even recently and honestly other than banging my head that ride doesn't really do anything for me the inversions don't really feel that exciting
If you keep your head forward you won't get any headbanging at all on Scream (or Medusa). Also try riding back row on an edge seat; it really amplifies the experience!
Just went to DK for the first time. Didnt get to ride medusa because right before i got on someone had a medical issue and they closed it for the rest of the day, so im glad to hear its basically just scream since ive ridden that enough to not even want to ride it most days lol.

In my opinion Kong is a rough coaster but it is not the worst. To me the only part that was not to comfortable was that hard stop a the end I was not prepared and I hit my head. But it is still an OK 👌 ride
bruv in that one clip of kong you can literally see the entire car snapping to the left right before it enters the brakes, (7:24)that ride is the spawn of broken necks and beaten up ears for me. like you can see the train snap left then their legs snap along with it
Uggghhh Scream is 10 times rougher than Medusa imo. I just rode Medusa all over the train and barely noticed a rattle.
Scream has an extreme rattle at the bottom of every hill. I get a headache every time lol I’m never riding it again unless they give it some love

From what I've ridden in six flags DK (5 years ago lol), I would say superman is the most intense, but only because i was a teeny tiny 8 year old and passed out at the top lmao. I still have yet to try the flash, joker, and batman, but they all look really good.
Sky Rocket IIs are pretty intense, but I simply found Medusa and Kong to just be even more intense!

Kong is not the worst coaster I've ridden but it is not great, Desperado is way worse. I also think Joker is a very underrated like Scream, I do understand it may be a bottom tier RMC but a bottom tier RMC is better the most coasters in my opinion.
I agree! Joker was a solid ride and is my #2 at the park, and top 5 in California overall for me!
I've been on 12 RMC's and while Joker is my #11 it is still in my Top 25 overall. Scream's rattle is the issue for me. I don't find that Medusa had that same rattle. Scream isn't horrible it just average. With that said I actually prefer Desperado over both Scream and kong.
Unfortunately I have not been able to ride Desperado because the last few times I went out to Vegas, it's been closed, and I'm not sure if it will ever reopen, as it's been closed since 2019 now I believe :/
One day I rode Kong five times in a row because my cousin and I were the only ones in line, and with just us on the train, it was smooth as butter. One of my favorite rides at the park.

@@M-NL2 Can confirm, back row ride on Kong was the most intense, head-banging, rough, g-force laden experience I've ever had on a Vekoma SLC.... And I've ridden Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens in Denver at least 20 times when my family lived there and Mind Eraser was one of my favorite rides in the park!
Me and my youngest brother were fortunate to get a last minute ride on Kong right before they kicked everybody out of the park, so we got to choose exactly what seats we wanted.... The ride operator who was helping us in literally said "You guys are true psychopaths for wanting to ride in the very back, but enjoy!"
So... In conclusion.... Can't believe I'm saying this, but Kong was _more intense in terms of forces and roughness_ than Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens! >.<
But I agree, I don't get the hate for these types of coasters, they have such a unique experience! Don't knock em till ya try em!

Boomerangs are actually .......... one of the most intense coasters out there. i also kinda like SLCs.
Compared to a Giant Inverted Boomerang I just didn't find the standard boomerang to be as intense or aggressive. That's just me though! ;) Also welcome to the SLC gang 😅

Theirs something about this park I will never like especially with joker I haven’t been able to get on it since 2017 because it always breaks down I seriously think they have a terrible maintenance team for that ride every time I go it breaks down ever 20-30 minutes throughout the whole day so I don’t bother with it anymore and then they rides at this park make it feel like a couple hours park except for Medusa that’s the only ride to me worth Marathoning
