I have the same table, and it does shake. Not too bad when all the way bottom, but quite severe when standing. Solution is to press it agians a wall which fixes the problem, but it's still not ideal.
Hi, my friend got the same desk but the manual one, his was also very wobbly. I brought a screwdriver and screwed the bottom screws so hard, that only god himself could remove it, since then it is very stable and doesn't wobble anymore. I know it is just a basic idea, but maybe it could do some magic to your desk as well.
I have a very old fixed-height desk from Ikea and it's construction isn't much different than yours. I TIG welded two square tube supports into the front of the desk which resolved most of the shaking...much like you are suggesting. The steel at the base was pretty thin, but is definitely enough to add some rigidity. I resolved the height adjustment issue by putting wood underneath both sides of the base until my desired height was reached. Most affordable desks are going to have similar issues. ALL adjustable height desks will have this issue. I have found that when it comes to desks, it's best to find what you like and make it yourself.
Thanks for sharing the experience - and confirming my "fears." To make matters worse, this material doesn't look good enough for either welding, or holding a bolted reinforcement with a high enough bolt preload. As I need a functioning desk, I'll probably build a proper one, and then see if this one can survive the reinforcement. For now, I stuck some drawers beneath the desk, and used just-the-right-stack of magazines to create a slight preload of the desk's wooden table, and reduce the vibrations to a not-too-distracting amount.
@@BikeGremlinUS It will be fine..even thin steel is strong. I used some thick wall 0.75" square tubing for my supports but only because that is what I had laying around. You can always add some support in the back. It really doesn't take much to stiffen it up. The biggest problem is going to be how you attach your supports. Welding was the solution for me because I have the ability to do so. Wood supports may also be a solution if your are handy. I modified my Ikea desk frame because I had the ability to do so. However, now that I own wood working tools, I would probably build it from wood. Either way, if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself!
My concern is the desk's structure. The lower legs seem to be made of low-quality cast iron (I could be wrong though, haven't tried drilling it yet). As far as reinforcement goes, I agree that any steel tubing will do. Also, with enough preload, I could make it work with just steel "stripes," setting them up on all four ends and making them work in tension, not compression. One way or another, I guess I'll have to take it all off the table, haul the table to a workshop, and have a go at it.
What model is the computer chair? I thought of buying that from ikea but it's clear now that cheaper stuff needs to be seen in person unless it's like a cabinet which is simple..
Marryfair is the manufacturer. The model is O 141. Link to the local store I bought it from: officeline.rs/merryfair/o-141/ Costs about $350. It doesn't look super strong so I'd not recommend it for people heavier than ~ 80 kg. But it is comfortable, relatively easy to keep clean (despite many nooks and cranies), and not too hot/sticky in the summer nor cold in the winter, if you know what I mean. It also looks ubercool. :) Relja

Hi Ahmad, If nothing unexpected happens (it's spring, so it's hectic in the bike shop), I hope to be able to make a video on my hack in the following few weeks. Can't promise any deadlines though. I decided to use some 8 mm rods, with threads cut on one end. Threaded into a "long nut" so that height adjustment is possible. With some nuts welded to the rods to allow tightening and loosening by a spanner. The rod ends have a 90 degree taper at their ends (that part is already finished). Then, I will drill small (2-3 mm) holes in the upper sections of the table's legs, and lower sections of the steel structure that holds the top board. And machine a 90 degree countersunk holes, to keep the rods centred and in place. The idea is for the rods to provide more rigidity, by adding a bit of preload on all four corners of the desk. My initial paint job was a bit crappy, and one of the threads broke off inside the "long nut" - because I don't have all the proper tools for machining that stuff. But the other three rods are fully functional, and I hope I'll make the fourth one work by the end of the week. Relja

Maybe - but I don't like the idea of placing a computer on the floor. Computers placed on the floor attract a lot more dust in my experience.

I regret getting this table after 2 years I threw it away. Worst desk this is and ergonomically bad for body if you have L shape bekant desk.
