I have tried a lot of headphones and I went with Beyerdynamics 990 pro instead of AT M50x as it has more balanced sound which is 100% better for mixing and mastering as well as production than a closed back headphone for its flat profile. The one and only drawback is you can't use them for recording or tracking (if you're sitting in the same room) but you can definetly do your micings with them and track your recording with any consumer pair of headphones. I've also tried AT m20x and it's really bad sound isolation cause the sound will leak even though it's a closed back headphone so go for in-ear monitors instead.

If you just want to mix and master produce go for 990 better stereo separation. If you want to record vocal aswell go for dt770
