I have been looking at reviews for weeks trying to find the right headphones and I have to say the DT770 PRO is wonderful. Again, thank you Sanjay for this video.

I bought the Neumann NDH-20 when I bought a Moog Grandmother. I wanted something that could handle the Moog and my other analog instruments without fatiguing my ears. @@yz416 bro i been following u ever since you did that beat critique from mai, i think the beat was called maria is dead. congrats on the success my g
I sold some gear and bought the Neumann headphones. I am traveling away from home for an extended time and in my effort to bring the most compact recording setup I needed headphones that could do double duty - tracking and mixing. The sound stage on the Neumann's are amazing! I have the Sonorworks software too so hopefully I will be able to get accurate mixes with these. We will see. My previous mixing headphones I bought a bazillion years ago, the AKG Q701. I hate headphones so I don't use them that often, but now that I won't have a speaker options I thought better headphones were in order.
Also, I would throw in the Philips SHP9500 for a budget option, and for a more upscale open back, the Sennheiser HD 598s are very good. I use both of these for A/B'ing, and gaming. They're both very good, very comfortable, and the sound sate is excellent!
There’s a subset of people who swear that the current M40x’s beat the M50x’s and are lighter/more comfortable and are cheaper. You should do a head-to-head
On top of the weight/comfort/price benefit mentioned above, the main selling point of interest to readers of this channel would be the more neutral sound of the M40x which makes them good for mixing. I also find them great for casual music listening. Overall, I think these are a great value pick.
I'm also interested. Haven't listened to the m50x, but I own the m40x. They have a pretty neutral sound with sweet mids. Not a flat sound, rather a balanced sound between detailed listening and fun. These headphones are also great for on the go.
Well done. I agree this channel is underrated. Very comprehensive video. The information we get are so Pro. Quality video. Hope to see more subscribers, to give this channel good justice.
Here is my list: Open-back: Sennheiser 800S; DT 1990; ATH M40x; Shure SRH-440. Close-back: Sony WH 1000xm4; AKG N700NC M2; Sony MDR-7506; Sennheiser 280, 202ii.
The ath-m50x are amazing for mixing and creation when you can't use monitors. Translates very well when I do jump on my speakers. The soundstage isn't all that wide but it handles everything else quite nice. Was a major recent upgrade (last year) from my 7506's I used for over a decade. Beyers were too bright for my tastes. I also find the Senns HD-25s are great secondary phones. I watch movies, tv and game with Phillips x2hr. Great vid. Focals?
I stumbled on some 250ohm 880 pros and was blown away with the price to performance of the BDs. They make some great cheap headphones that often outperform ones costing 2-3x more. They also have high end ones but I haven’t tried them... sure they’re good
Hi sir by your recommendation I purchased focusrite scarlet 2i2 Now I am confused which headphones should I buy I think berydyanimic is nice but which model should I buy and of how many ohms, closed or open please help me by suggesting me Main purpose is mixing and mastering
I own the audio technica ath-m50x and i absolutely love them! They are so comfy and i didn’t have to charge them for a month! The sound quality is great aswell.

Is there a big difference mixing with the sonys compared to the beats? I have the Sony's 900N bluetooth headphones which are not monitor headphones(I got them just for listening) but I was wondering if I connect them with wire to my audio interface if they would be as good as monitor headphones
Omg I had to get rid of my Beats... Terrible. After a little trip to guitar center and the tech was cool enough to allow me to listen to my mixes of a couple of track I mixed with Beats headphones The mixes were lacking terribly all beats headphones have a color more suited to consumer sound to them not flat. Love my Samson Sr 950s

Wow this is one of the best tech reviews I've seen on youtube. Well structured, informative and super engaging! I'm looking into getting a pair of new headphones so this helped a lot thanks! :)
Great reviews! A few months ago I picked up the Beyerdynamic 770’s based upon your recommendation. They are phenomenal! Super comfortable and you can hear a pin drop. They are great. Thank you......
Can you please tell us what amp should we choose for dt 770 pro 250ohm? It is very hard to find good info.. do we really need something expensive? What specs should the amp have? Same ohms as the headphones? I read somehwere that amp impedance should be 2.5 to 8 times lower than the headphone impedance, but still I'm not sure.. music is pretty difficult when you go deep lol.
Great review as usual Sanjay. Is it worth upgrading to the DT 770 Pro or ATH M50X from the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, which is what I have? I mainly use the HD 280's for home recording and making my basic guitar patches on the Helix Native plug in/ Helix Rack though everything is finally adjusted using the Yamaha HS5 Studio Monitors and an Antelope Audio Zen Go AI. So between the HD280, DT 770 pro and ATH M50X, which ones do you recommend for a guitarist/ home recordings? Thanks.
I have the M50X and they're a great pair of headphones but I've tried those 770s and I think I'd go with those. Great video! Can you do a comparison on the headphones you like to use for listening in general? I'm looking at the Bose 700 and would like to hear your take.
I think you'll love the 770s. Good choice. For listening in general, I typically buy headphones that have excellent noise cancelling - Bose has been great. But recently loving the Airpod Pros
I've had the Cb1's for about 3 years using them daily. lol i'm actually using them right now. They are great for the price!! I loaned them to a friend who had the M40x and he was blown away by the sound quality. Very comfortable too. Unfortunately the build quality is not that great. The "leather' from the ear cups has stripped completely and I had to use my sewing skills to patch them up because they totally fell off. The hinges on each ear broke and they are both being held together with super glue. Still sounds great after 3 years though. If you want something comfortable, with great sound then the Cb1 is a good buy, but if you are looking for durability.. get something else. P.s. Don't get the OneOdio if you care anything about sound quality. You will regret it. A friend of mine bought a pair and it sounds terrible. Save a little and get something better
Of all the headphones that I've tried during the years I've settled with the Sennheiser HD650, the AKG K702, the Beyerdynamic DT-150 with DT-100 velour pads; those 3 I use for mixing and mastering. And I mainly use IEMs or the KRK KNS 8400 for tracking.
Superlux HD681, less than 30$, a tiny little grainy highs but best (of all) in terms of frequency response. A very very good sounding one for the purpose of your review.
Just throwing this out there, I've had the ATH M50X for 6-7 years now. Used them a lot. I just picked up a new pair because I wanted more headphones for tracking, and the new pair sounds the same as the old
I have the DT990 Pro, the only advice I could give: make sure you also invest in something like Sonarworks Reference, otherwise the highs will really hurt your ears!
Sanjay C I only have the headphone version currently, which does wonders! It also seems very good for monitors but I need to buy their calibrated mic first, which I haven’t done yet. But that’s something for somewhere in 2020 😁
I agree with ALMOST everything said in this review. My one nitpick is that the DT770's and DT990's do not sound the same in my opinion. I use both extensively and the DT990's are undoubtedly brighter and glassier than the 770's. And that's important because the 770's are already on the slightly brighter side of the spectrum, so the 990's are more fatiguing after a long session. I have to admit, I definitely reach for the 770's more often (which are actually slightly more comfortable as well in my opinion).
I purchased the DT990 250 ohms version used it with Focusrite 8i6 and they sounded terrible. I mean as soon as you turn the music up the sound gets distorted. Have you experienced the same thing? At first it seemed like the music with slightly louder bass was sounding distorted but later anything that is higher slightly in the middle started sounding distorted and I returned the headphones. I searched on the internet if anyone else had the same issue and turns out a few people have made a complaint of the same issue. Have you ever experienced anything like that with your DT990?
I've got so hype about the M50x but after I get it, it was very uncomfortable for me. But I still use it for 3 years now, I bought another decent cheap headphone that is comfortable, and use it for everything except when I need to master the track, I put the m50x on.
I can sort of relate, having m50x myself. My previous headphones were HyperX Cloud 2, and coming from them the m50x at first were noticably less comfortable, especially for longer periods of time. But after about a month or so, I got perfectly used to M50x, and I can wear them for many hours barely noticing any uncomfortableness (idk if that's a word even) ... so I guess you just kinda get used to over time.
After listening to several headphones i can confirm the following. I have been daily driver m50x' for over a year now, love the sound, but i replaced the earcuffs to velvet ones. Even these are still lightly uncomfortable, so i have ordered a pair of cuffs with coolinggel in it for more comfort. I have tried the Sennheiser hd 650's but i personally think the stereo image is disgusting (way too wide). The openback beyerdynamics 880 pro's are really neat, sound is overall pretty level, but they aren't the most fun to listen to. In the end i have decided my favourite sound is at the Ollo Audio HPS S4R are my favourite headphones in sound and clarity.
Great Comparision Sanjay! I just ordered the DT990 and it should arrive next week. Since you only mentioned the Scarlett and the UA, will my M-Audio 192 drive the 250ohm Version good enough?
10:10 i bought these n i am a beginner... I made kind of like good mixes in it!! So. I would suggest them to others on a tight budget and just wanna start!
I bought the Neumann NDH20s last year (2019) in April and am absolutely glad I did! These closed back headphones have some of the best sound I have ever had with some headphones and I use them for just about everything except gaming. The church where I work sound and media systems has a separate room where work. We get some "visitors" who will occasionally get loud and bring up children who cried on occasion. I had the Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones and they DID NOT block out that sound very well. After getting my Neumann NDH20s I was really surprised at what I had been missing from the sound, and because they are so good, I occasionally had to take some forks to my ears due to the "out-of-tune-ness" of the singing for the music. Yeah, they did that. My bottom line for them is if your budget allows it, get the Neumann NDH20s because they are worth it. I did and I'm glad I did. Thanks for sharing Sanjay! Your honest openness is refreshing!
Sir, can you please make a review for the ONEODIO Pro 50. I've been using them since last 3 years and find them flat but also little sharp in the highs at times.
Great review. I was looking forward to seeing the frequency response graphs. :( Also, I believe the ATH-M40x might have a little less bass than the M50x so perhaps that's a cheaper option that is more neutral and a better recommendation for people. I'm looking at headphones with the most isolation as possible while still sounding good. I already have the HD280s and the ATH-M50, if you ever find something with more isolation than the HD280s that sound great please let me know.

I've ATH-50x & I respect your opinion because I've the same issue.❤️
Thanks, Saíkat. Have you tried any of the others in this list?
@@SanjayC Nope, I'll try some in future.
Do I need an amp for dt 770 pro 250 or will the headphone jack on focusrite scarlett solo audio interface be sufficient?
I find that the scarlett powers the 250 ohm headphones adequately for me. Give it a try. It may be good enough for you too. But I did like using an amp with all these headphones. Just sounded better for all. I used this one: amzn.to/2GQV6kM
hehehe im one step closer to learning how u get ur mixes so hard @yz

I highly recommend an amp for those and the AKG 702
BEST VIDEO EVER! Thank you SanjayC! I can finally pick a pair of headphones 😃
Thanks! Glad it helped you!
Not only did this video help me choose my next set of headphones, but it mos def educated me on so many aspects from different headphones! Thank you!
So happy to hear that!
Good idea!
This channel is the jewel in rough. Subscribed for more.
Many thanks!
Well done. I agree this channel is underrated. Very comprehensive video. The information we get are so Pro. Quality video. Hope to see more subscribers, to give this channel good justice.
Here is my list:
Open-back: Sennheiser 800S; DT 1990; ATH M40x; Shure SRH-440.
Close-back: Sony WH 1000xm4; AKG N700NC M2; Sony MDR-7506; Sennheiser 280, 202ii.
one minute into the video, thumbs up, professionally done!!!
Great vid. Focals?
Oh I wish I could try the Focal Utopia!! Thanks for sharing your experience!
I stumbled on some 250ohm 880 pros and was blown away with the price to performance of the BDs. They make some great cheap headphones that often outperform ones costing 2-3x more. They also have high end ones but I haven’t tried them... sure they’re good
Hi sir by your recommendation I purchased focusrite scarlet 2i2
Now I am confused which headphones should I buy
I think berydyanimic is nice but which model should I buy and of how many ohms, closed or open please help me by suggesting me
Main purpose is mixing and mastering
I like using the Beyerdynaic DT 770 with the Focusrite interfaces.
The Beyerdynamic DT700 ProX are the best set of headphones I've ever owned, LOVE 'EM!
I own the audio technica ath-m50x and i absolutely love them! They are so comfy and i didn’t have to charge them for a month! The sound quality is great aswell.
Nice choice!
I love this video! You present loads of useful information in a polished presentation. You present flawlessly and in a pleasant, friendly manner. Great job! I also appreciate your summarizing at the end all this information!
13:41 I thought you were gonna say, these headphones sound closer to my wife's beautiful voice talking... whispering into my ears.
Haha. No headphones will compare to the real thing.
Bro, you’re goated. Especially with the chapters feature. Thank you
I appreciate that :-)
not sure how I managed to miss this gold mine of a channel but I subbed before the intro ended. Very excited to see your other videos. thanks for the great quality and detail!:)
@SanjayC this! 🙌🏾💕
How about the DT880 and their "semi-open" Design?
I'm getting those Neumann phones. Been looking for a decent review like this.
Thanks, Elliot
check out Zreviews video of them. note, the wire comes out on the right side. really, check the letters.
had it for a few months and now trying to get rid of it, wayyy to uncomfortable probably because im wearing glasses.
Dude your channel is amazing! I’m currently mixing wit a pair of Beats Solo HD’s and just ordered a pair of Sony’s due to this review.
Thank you Dj SoFlo!
Love my Samson Sr 950s
hey sanjay, does the dt770 pro 250 ohm run well with my focusrite 8i6
Well done!!!!
First timer here, great review, i was surprised to see only 98k subs... keep it up. Maybe a collab or something might help boosting them numbers up... Anyway...subscribed!
Thank you, Alex! We will grow slow and steady :-)
Thanks! Glad you like the DT 770s! Still my favorite!
Thanks for the advice!
Happy to see you getting the recognition you deserve Sanjay!
Hey Ez Beats! Thank you so much
Had my M50x for about 8 years now, still going strong
Is Samson SR850 worth buying?
Of all the headphones that I've tried during the years I've settled with the Sennheiser HD650, the AKG K702, the Beyerdynamic DT-150 with DT-100 velour pads; those 3 I use for mixing and mastering. And I mainly use IEMs or the KRK KNS 8400 for tracking.
This was such a detailed review! Awesome job, definitely gonna look through the rest of your videos for advice!
Thanks Prabhu!
Superlux HD681, less than 30$, a tiny little grainy highs but best (of all) in terms of frequency response. A very very good sounding one for the purpose of your review.
Just throwing this out there, I've had the ATH M50X for 6-7 years now. Used them a lot. I just picked up a new pair because I wanted more headphones for tracking, and the new pair sounds the same as the old
I'm using the st-80 right now and boy is it good!!!! like wow!!! really helps me when i'm mastering music in FL studio.
Finally! That's the last confirmation, I'll go with the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro
I think you'll be happy :-D What headphones do you use now?
I have the DT990 Pro, the only advice I could give: make sure you also invest in something like Sonarworks Reference, otherwise the highs will really hurt your ears!
Thanks, Peter...I have to try that out for sure. Did it make a difference for your monitors as well?
Sanjay C I only have the headphone version currently, which does wonders! It also seems very good for monitors but I need to buy their calibrated mic first, which I haven’t done yet. But that’s something for somewhere in 2020 😁
Ah sounds good! I'm gonna try it for sure. Thanks for the tips, Peter!
@@Blackbloodroyals wow, no, definitely never had that issue luckily... They sound extremely clean when they are working properly ;)
You could have just changed the ear foam pads...
@@joashbritto i changed it too bro. Because it is also wear out easily I changed it soon but it still feel the same pressure onto my ear more or less.
Can the beyerdynamic 990 and 770 also be used to play on a digital piano? Because they are mostly recommended for mixing and studio recording.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Great Comparision
Sanjay! I just ordered the DT990 and it should arrive next week. Since you only mentioned the Scarlett and the UA, will my M-Audio 192 drive the 250ohm Version good enough?
Hi Jonas, the 250 ohm headphones were a little quiet on the 192. It may be OK for you, so try it first before buying a headphone amp
@@SanjayC I've seen a test where it says Maudio is louder than focusrite
10:10 i bought these n i am a beginner... I made kind of like good mixes in it!! So. I would suggest them to others on a tight budget and just wanna start!
Nice. Thanks for sharing your good experience with them.
Thanks for sharing. Its amazing what good quality gear does to your studio environment. And you don't know until you get it. I totally agree.
so if I'm trying to mix vocals what would be the go to on this list budget is 100-200
Sir, can you please make a review for the ONEODIO Pro 50. I've been using them since last 3 years and find them flat but also little sharp in the highs at times.
Great review. I was looking forward to seeing the frequency response graphs. :(
Also, I believe the ATH-M40x might have a little less bass than the M50x so perhaps that's a cheaper option that is more neutral and a better recommendation for people.
I'm looking at headphones with the most isolation as possible while still sounding good. I already have the HD280s and the ATH-M50, if you ever find something with more isolation than the HD280s that sound great please let me know.
I think AKG K271's isolation is great.
