Sounds great. I appreciate your new sound system. I’ve enjoyed your content but struggled to hear many times. I think you are a good teacher.

I followed your approach here took two colonies and feed 4 gals each in top feeders. Lighter than 1:1 got them 80% built out maybe a touch more.
Happy with that going to pull those deeps and hit them again with more build out as many as I can before the fall flow.
Plan to rob these frames to use for nuc next year. But If you think that I should use them as honey storage going into the winter I can otherwise I was just going to let my nuc yard rob the syrup out of them and store the dry frames.
    Enjoying following along thank you

Thank you for all the work you do to get your follow beekeepers educated. I have a couple of questions. I just did an alcohol wash on two of the six colonies I have. I found no mites. Should I do washes on the other 4? I chose the biggest colonies I have reasoning they have had more brood cycles. Also on another subject,as you have pointed out, there is a honey flow starting and in my area it looks to be pretty good.I have two hives with single boxes full of comb, brood, and some honey with full hive bodies on top with same thing and most foundation drawn out. Should I put excluders under the top boxes and supers on top in anticipation of the flow that I believe is ramping up? I have 4 singles. Should I super them with no excluder? I only have foundation for any supers or hive bodies I have. As always your advice is much appreciated valued.

Here in Maine with the flow starting I will hope for it to continue to a greater or lesser extent until frost. I will try to keep just ahead of their need for space by adding boxes as they become either 75% built (if foundation) or 1/2 full if they are drawn comb. If you have no drawn comb for honey supers do not use a queen excluder until they have built at least a few combs out...once they have the queen excluder is fine.

    Sound quality is excellent.
As for the frames, drawn comb is gold. Love to see that new white comb and sugar water goes a long way in getting it drawn.
I am feeding back to some expanding nucs that have to draw frames, some honey I got early this spring. The taste is weird (dandelions?) and it started to crystalize right away. I dilute the honey down by half with hot water and stir it for a while. Is there a problem feeding this back? I wouldn't use anyone else's honey.

      Your own honey, no problem!

@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer Sorry never feed honey to bees, sugar syrup only. The reason if you have a disease like AFB in a hive you extracted the honey from you can transfer it to other hives. AFB will kill yr hives, dont ever feed honey to bees !!!

Would open feeding give the same results? Thanks

Im feeding my bees to get them to draw out a new honey super, which is working but they are also storing the syrup in some of the frames. Am I feeding them to much?its very early spring here in New Zealand and I've feed them 4L syrup over two week period.being a honey super i don't want syrup in the frames but it like them drawn before the honey flow kicks in

Yes that is a problem. You could extract the syrup and perhaps freeze it to feed back later. Stop feeding when you put the super back on.

Are you using 1:1 or 2:1 syrup?
