Wow Ian , I don't know what to say, it was you who helped me believe I understand how to do this and why. Glad you like my interpretation of what I consider your method!

@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer I'm a regular of Ian's videos lol, since i saw this video im thinking now of setting up with with a single hive with double 5 frame nukes but i'll use the Apimaye brood box with the divider board.

I agree, I think there is an acceleration of forage bees. Younger forage bees bring a lot of nectar in and it keeps those bees busy foraging rather than swarming

One day, when I am semi retired, I will put my biology research hat back on and try to determine which bees do what and when if different brood chamber configurations are used.

A great video. I was starting back out this last may when it came time to put my first un-drawn honey box on like you said that bee would not come up an my brood box was FULL . I ask a lot of people how to get the bees up with no answer from all I ask so I thought an thought. I cut about a 1/4 sheet of pollen pattie an put it on top of my un drown frames . The next day that box was half full of bee and working it . I do not know but it worked for me that time but it may not next time. Thanks for your video’s.

How do you keep them from swarming in single brood box?
I have 1 queen she is laying 6 to 8 frames a week
Most of my hives are double brood box
This crazy queen has 3 brood box and I made 3 nuc from her.

It seems to be mostly a matter of timing. If you restrict her before she has really got through her peak egg laying and before the main honeyflow, swarming is a real possibility, but here in Maine mid June, after the queen has been laying at max for a few weeks and just as the main flow is kicking in seems to work.

Very good video. Going to try two nucs on the bottom next season and see what happens. Thanks.

Just curious: When the 2-nuc setup DOES swarm on the odd occasion, is it only one side that swarms or do they both get the same idea at the same time?

what happend if one deep brood box after winter put queen excluder , not allow them to develop two brood box ? reason why i ask this is that we need to find queen and put again first deep box before honey flow.

d you not partition the super above the 2 nukes, do the bees not kll each others queens ?

The vast majority of the time there is no issue at all. Needs to be done when there is some honeyflow.

So you wait till the supers gets full of honey before you pull them off ?

    • @BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer

I take them off when they are full OR when the flow finishes and its time to feed or do anything else....I take off many partly filled supers.

U know a lot about bees I have 2 questions for u please answer if u know question can u look at the hive entrance and tell they a fixxing to swarm what are the signs at the entrance same for a queenless hive can u tell the the hive is missing there queen by lookng at the entrance if u will answer these 2 questions for me if u know I will be very thankful have a blessed week thanks

When you treat the nuc combination, especially during the flow , do you treat them as on 10 frame hive or as nucs?
