Hi Marieka just wanted to say thank you for these videos they have helped me so much and I have started homeschooling my 7 yr old & 10 yr old this year! ❤
Thank you for making videos, there is hardly any Australian homeschool TH-camrs, so I was so happy to find you. I just started prep/foundation with my 5yr old. We are struggling to get through the work load. What would you say is a good expectation for that age? I’m wondering if we need to persist (we are on our second week) or if my expectations are too high and I need to change something.
Welcome to homeschooling! I am so glad you found my content helpful. I recommend starting slow, just do a little bit each day and then build up to where you would like to be. At that age my children were only doing an hour of what we considered homeschool work a day four times a week
Hi Marieka! I'm wondering which evidence based reading program(s) you recommend? My little 4yo boy loves reading eggs but found "Teach Your kid to read in 100 easy lessons" not to his taste and refused to sit down with it by lesson 4. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and experience ❤
I have found that The Good and the Beautiful Language and Literacy program has worked well for teaching to read. Levels K and up you can download for free and print at home, the first two levels you will have to purchase. You can purchase PDFs and print your self which is much more cost effective. www.goodandbeautiful.com/pre-k-8-curriculum/language-arts/
Do you still use Sunburnt Country and Discover Down Under? I was intrigued when I saw your video and wondered how the living books would go for our family and I’ve realised one of them isn’t available anymore
I do still use them. I purchased them a few years ago and unfortunately the seller does not sell them anymore as she made them apart of her homeschool program (My Homeschool) so if you want to buy them you will have to find them second hand
Thank you for watching! With maths I usually give my children a time frame to do their maths rather than how many lessons as some times the lessons are really quick to complete or they will take a long time
What will you replace Education Perfect with this year? My new high schooler was looking forward to using it. We are disappointed they aren’t open to homeschooling families anymore.
No we are not using them anymore. They stopped working for me as I was finding it difficult to get all my children together at the same time to do the read aloud portion and to watch videos and it was too reliant on me so I decided to switch up our curriculum to something that worked better for us. I did love the curriculum and was sad that we needed to move on but I am enjoying what we are doing now too.

I love your videos. Thanks so much. Can I ask how many lessons a child does each day with maths online?

Hi! New subscriber here!! This ocean study sounds great!! 😊
Thanks for subbing! We are enjoying it so far
Are you still using Jump In for writing or have you completed writing?
We are not using Jump in any more as I feel like writing is covered enough in the Good and Beautiful literacy program
Hi, are you no longer using Gather Round units?
No we are not using them anymore. Where did you get your art notebooks
It is just a sketch book from Kmart in the kids craft department. I did purchase them last year so they may have new designs out now
