Rice did break a rule that is an automatic yellow. You can't stop or block a quick fk. So the reason for the card itself is correct. Rice just doesn't need to put himself in that situation. Now the ball moving is an argument. But Rice didn't have to put himself in that situation
@@ninjalectualxHow is that an argument? Rice being kicked by Veltman doesn't mean he's allowed to kick off the pitch. Veltman should have been booked as well, but two mistakes doesn't make one right
The thing about the refs over here is the inconsistency of the refs. The same scenario can happen twice & there are 2 different outcomes. This happened so frequently last season there were a lot of calls to scrap VAR. The real problem is not VAR, it’s the way the refs are implementing it. We absolutely have a problem with the consistency of officiating in the UK.
What's funny is, it was english refs who also were inconsistent in the euros Denmark's Andersen had an offside, yeah, offside is offside. Then just 2 minutes later, he has a ball in the box litterally kicked up in his hand, and it even just grazes his hand. This had so little impact that you had to look at it, Frame by frame, to be able to even notice it. Penalty given (which Havertz also is claimed to have done incorrectly and making it illegal). Then look at Cucurella's handball vs Germany. Litterally, that one is so obvious and a denial of a clear goal scoring oppurtunity, yet that one is not given. How does Andersen's, whose handball was shot into his hand and wasn't even denying a goal, it was a little graze you could only notice frame by frame, equate to a penalty, but Cucurella's blatant block of the ball not make a penalty. It's outragous

Based on the rules the Joao Pedro one wasnt a yellow card because he was technically still in motion of when he and the ball was in play.. not like the ball stopped off the pitch and he kicked it away.. he was already in motion so its seen as if he started kicking when he was on the pitch
The ball was already out of play when Pedro booted it, in fairness. Rice shouldnt have touched the ball, he should have gotten kicked if he wanted to waste time

Daichi Kamada getting away with 3 yellow card fouls in the first 10 mins and he carded Neto on the first offence. then we talk about Will Hughes escaping a clear second yellow then Palace subbed him and his replacement had a hand in the goal Eze scored
We also need to be more consistent with calling out these problems. Most people only complain when it happens against their team (Rightfully so but still)
Great watch as always 👊🏿. For me the card wasn't really surprising coz refs give those cards sometimes. Similar to wheb goalies timewaste and aren't given a warning just straight card yellow (second yellow if it applies). But i do agree i think the issue overall is probably the lack of consistency across the board coz in that very same game the ref was dancing between being strict and lenient etc (And this just comes from the outside looking in coz i mostly watch La Liga and Serie A so im not as well versed in the PL discourses but i do see several complaints esp last season i remember with them releasing those audios of some of the decisions it seems the PL refs are rarely ever on the same page lol)
I rice wasnt on a yellow then the ref could've just give a verbal warning, he should've been smarter, it's amazing these people get paid millions to play and never bother to learn the rules
true, but his whole point was about lack of consistency, it is easier to agree with a decision if its made consistently, you can not do x then do y for the same thing during the same game.
Broski, the Arsenal flag on your wall kinda shows your bias, the Rice decision was correct. Yes, it was inconsistent with Joao Pedro earlier that game but Rice was rightfully sent off
@AbduletifMuhidin no, not really, I'd be mad at Rice more than I'd be mad at the referee, even Rice and Arteta acknowledged that the call was correct, it's still just not nice that Joao was not given a yellow for doing the same, but again, referees shouldn't make more mistakes just to "make up"
It's pretty hilarious to see Arsenal fans (and Arteta) get upset about VAR and decisions now and asking people to "come together" and "put aside biases", but when they benefited from them against Liverpool (Odegaard's handball against Liverpool) it was all good. Even Arteta, after Diaz's goal was ruled offside (accidentally, apparently) insisted the referees needed to be "respected" and were "trying their best" when Klopp and LFC asked for other managers and clubs to demand better.
