I love your humour! Brilliant. I could smell that explosion from here! LOL!
I definitely need the wave trap. I have the same issue with mine being overwhelmed by a local station.

I lived in Philadelphia as well and listened to this station back in the 90s!!!

One 8' piece of hard drawn 1/2" copper pipe. Connect a garden hose to one end with a hose clamp and slightly flatten the other to produce a spray effect. Pick the most convenient window close to your shack table and place the spray end into the dirt (drill through the wall if you must to get the shortest run). Turn the water on and by drop drill the 8' copper pipe into the ground leaving 6" exposed. Fill the hole around the pipe with bentonite clay (or cheap kitty litter would be the same) and pack down. Effortless ground pipe is made !!!

I've heard about this "water drill" method before. I might try it this summer.

I remember the crystal radio kits from when I was a kid, about 50 yrs ago. It was pretty cool listening to radio stations with no battery.

Very very well made set, you were meticulous in construction. Looks like a real great performer.

Lol. Nice Newscast . Clear not to get on someone’s bad side. I’ve used the same type Of ground for 30 years with excellent performance and only 3 deaths by electrocution. Cool video, thanks

I have a A.M. loop antenna,I wonder if that will work for Crystal radios?

    Video VERY nice!
The built receiver also very beautiful!
Not to be ugly but found the reception a bit disappointing.
    BUT,
also understand there are not that many stations anymore!
    SW is still my favorite!
around 5 to 7MHz - in AM modes the pirate band in the NL
Friendly and healthy greetings from the Netherlands!

Its not a good thing to let the Magic Smoke out of electronic parts...its hard to put it back in. WH7WP
