Thank you Ron, always loved JD. I got to meet him & Earl once. Earl was signing autographs, I was the last in line, the autograph session went for hours & hours. He’d laid down his pen & snatched it up as I walked up. I told him I wouldn’t ask him for one for anything after all he’d signed. I told him I just wanted to shake his hand & tell him how much his music meant to me, my voice started to crack & I started to shed some tears 😢. He told me thank you so very much & means so much to me. Just as you’d expect from such a kind wonderful soul. JD, exactly the same, class acts.❤❤❤

Well, JD Crowe is good and so is Earl Scruggs but if you were ever own A record album or CD and people listen to it and they go. Oh that’s jd Crowe they will say his name and not your name so you need to change it up to where people go That’s you and not him

This was a post for Bluegrass Today about J.D. Crowe.
Imitation is really important. Babies learn to speak by watching and listening to their parents. Even in higher education, scholars read and study authors and poets - what they did - and often imitate as an exercise.
A key thing is to not imitate only one player, but to have a variety of influences. I have quite a few banjo influences, Scruggs and Crowe being at the top, and my guitar influences are myriad. I doubt anyone would say I'm a clone of anyone.
