Hi Silvio. I have been watching all along. I promise. I just haven't had much time to comment. Work hours have been crazy. But, as always, you amaze me with your creativity. I'm so sorry to hear you're sick again, and I hope you perk up soon. I think you have your planetary system set just perfect. It's georgous! Your inch worm is cute but might not fit in with your design. I also love your choices on the Dept 56 buildings. I have many buildings in my collection and I noticed years ago we need to pay close attention to the scale. Some are smaller and some are larger and too shiney.
Hello Jeanie, Ok now I am sure... 3D modeling something when you have a fever is not always productive. I will have no regrets saying goodbye to the worm. I am more and more convinced to replace it with a real fountain. Thank you for your objective feedback and also for alerting me about possible problems with Department56 buildings.
Hi Silvio, once again a great joy to watch your video. I agree with you on the Lemax designs. They're getting too bombastic. I'm really gravitating more towards other brands right now, that look more 'normal', even if their build quality may not be as good. Dept. 56 buildings are absolutely beautiful! In the meantime I also started building my village. It's bigger than last year's and I can't wait to share it with you and your public!
Hi Bram, Excellent definition "Bombastic". Not easy to find alternative to Lemax in Italy. Yes there are online stores all over Europe but before introducing a new brand to my collection I first need to touch the buildings with my own hands and see them live. Sorry but I am old school and for me it is the only way to judge a product. Excellent, your villages are always amazing. I will post the video introducing Christmas Villages from The World 2024 Edition in a few weeks.
@silvioallena I'm sure the 'invasion' will reach Italy in a year or two. But even with the luxury of having so many brands, I'm still looking for a church in a specific shape no one is making. I'm thinking of trying 3d modelling and just making it myself, however surely that's easier said than done.
Hello Silvio, Glad to see you up and about and hopefully feeling much better. I really like your choices for the Dept 56 buildings. I think my favorite is the rug merchant. Looking forward to the unboxing. Wow, I love the inch worm! Ingenious, he bunches up and then straightens out. The paint job is very natural looking, I really really like it but not the placement. I would definitely use the cute little guy but think he would look more at home near your scrap yard or AIW band. I know you said you could do a water fountain in that spot instead, but time is limited and could be a hassle. Why not instead of a fountain, a tiny pond with a moving swan. It would not have moving water but the swan would move in a circle like your inch worm. You could simulate the water. Even could have a couple of benches with people feeding birds. I think it would fit that section beautifully, but that is just me. What do you think? Oh Silvio, another fabulous blue roofed house. The snow looks really good. Cool about the level above the graveyard. Your posts/pillars are much more elaborate and beautiful than my stick ones. It looks great and the fact the graveyard is inset like that, it gives even more character in my opinion. Okay, Absolutely awesome and out of this world planetary system!!!
Hello Susan, I left the little worm in action for over three days but the movement is still too jerky. Probably one of the two gears or the worm itself has a printing defect. Moving it near the scrap yard would mean having too many things in movement in a limited area and nothing moving in the left section. And then, but you can't know because the second themed section is still incomplete, it would also clash near that. Basically, from all the comments received, it is clear that I completely made a mistake in putting that design in the left section. And with a clear mind, as impossible it is that my mind can come close to lucidity and you know it perfectly, you are all absolutely right. The idea of the pond with the moving swan is absolutely brilliant... thank you I will see how to proceed... the mechanisms must be redesigned anyway otherwise even the swan will swim in fits and starts… a lot to think about… I need more glucose
Hello Silvio, The last blue roofed building still needs a name and I have chosen The Guardian as its name. A guardian protects and provides for their charges. This house has a watch tower so danger can be spotted and to monitor. The basement provides shelter and protection. It stands tall and proud. I have enjoyed naming the blue roofed buildings. But I am glad I did not take on the naming of the right side buildings. I am looking forward to your creation of the swan and pond. Stay strong and eat plenty of honey!
Hello Susan, I am already at the sixth giant jar of honey finished. The Guardian is the perfect name, all the dictionaries of synonyms and antonyms for the word guardian will have to be rewritten. Thank you. After what you will see in the next Part 16, probably tomorrow November 5th, I don't know if the swan swimming happily in the pond will be ideal and I am really sorry about that because it is a great idea. It will all depend on your future comments. In any case, I have already finished the 3D model but I'm also thinking of a very, very extreme plan B but in line with the philosophy of Uchronia and with what you will see (tomorrow). But don't worry, nothing will ever be explicitly "viewer discretion is advised" but a lot could upset the majority.
Hey Silvio! Hope you are feeling better. I have the tea shop and jewelry shop. I thought about the perfume shop, but preferred the Charles Darby one. Unfortunately, it's retired so I had to get it off ebay. I do want the Kingsford Rug Merchant building. Wow, that house is tall! It is very pretty, Silvio. The snow is cute and makes sense, if you are going ro have a snow village! Not that we ever really get snow in Texas! That solar system is so pretty. As for your annual flu, have you tried drinking black tea every day? When I was in university, I got sick every fall. But one year, I drank tea every day and did not get sick that year. So now I am a dedicated tea drinker.
Hello Rebecca, Yes much better thank you. Unfortunately tea has a taste that has never thrilled me much. I have always been addicted to milk, hot or cold. From breakfast with a nice slice of French baguette with butter and jam or honey until late at night with a maximum of three biscuits. I can't stop, I also participated in many MA sessions but it was of no use. Yes, it will be a village full of snow. I still remember with nostalgia the last Christmas holidays with snow that I experienced between 1985 and 1986. Then nothing (damn global warming!!) apart from February 2012 where we went down to -19°C/-2°F but it wasn't Christmas. I understand why you preferred Charles Darby's perfumery: perfect Victorian shop.
@silvioallena oh, that sounds lovely. I want a baguette! Tea is a bit of an acquired taste (as I drink it without anything added.) I got used to that when I worked in a Chinese restaurant. You should have seen their faces the first time I put sugar in my tea! 🤣 Snow is a rarity. If it comes at all, it is in January or February and we get about an inch or two, with ice. Then the whole state shuts down! I will be filming my village once it goes up, so be on the lookout. 😁
Ciao, Silvio! Glad you're feeling better! You get the flu around this same time every year! Probably not getting enough rest during Christmas village build season. I think your caterpillar/worm needs to be closer to Alice in Wonderland area?
Ciao Robin, rest, rest... no, I don't think I've ever heard that word before. I honestly have more and more doubts about that walking worm. One of those wrong ideas of mine as often happens. Maybe a real fountain is much better but if I want to make it waterproof I have to hurry otherwise I will never finished it in time. It's not that hot anymore and the layers of waterproofing spray will take forever to dry.
