    Nice concept but the wind turbine your showing is three phase AC which has three wires coming from it and it's connected to a three phase AC control charger that has a three phase full bridge rectifier to change AC to DC then the charge controller sends the DC voltage to the battery for storage unless you have a load dump connected to the charge controller. Here in America the standard house voltage is 220 passing through the meter to the main breaker box located outside the home then that's connected to the breaker box located inside the home which distributes the 220 voltage throughout the house. The black coated wire is live the white wire is neutral, green or bare is always ground for 110 to 120 volts. For the 220 volts (hot water heater, central heat and air, stove and water pump for people with well water. The color of the wires depends on wether it's three prong or four prong. The three prong 220 plug is black and white are live and green or bare is ground. The four prong 220 volt plug is black and red are live, white and green or bare is neutral or ground. For DC voltage red is positive and black is negative. When using solar or a wind turbine you can't bypass the battery because neither wind turbine or solar has enough amps or watts to use a power inverter for the home or off grid use.

      Have the same exact turbine, has two wires coming out of it. One red and one black. 12v so I guess the rectifier is built in the turbine or something. But I have seen similar turbines with three similar colored wires coming out...

      @@aloydiaz3459 Most of the time wind turbines are three phase AC which will have three same colored wires coming out while DC wind turbines will only have two wires one red and one black but in some cases the wire colors may be black and white.
      What you saw in the video is a DC wind turbine which uses a solar control charger to regulate the input voltage to the battery which prevents over charging the battery when it's fully charged.
      The purpose of a control charger is to limit the volts and amps going to the battery otherwise you'd ruin the battery and or the turbine which can and will get very expensive when you either have to replace your battery(ies) or turbine.

    Solar panels does not use the same controller as Eolic, the Wind turbine ones has kind of a resistor, to lower the RPM in the wind turbine when there is too much wind.

    I think a dump load and circuit breakers, may be be a good idea. Or the battery when full would leave nowhere for the power to get dumped and something would break, when the inverter is not being used.

      @@koala10ish I don't recommend you leaving any system for long periods of time without being able to check for problems, especially with a wind turbine. You can have any size system you want, you just need multiple batteries.

      Keep in mind that the video is only covering a pmg turbine, not a pga (which in my experience work better these have 3 wires) you would have to add a controller to the battery bank. Generally it will run sensor wire and power wire to a solenoid which is triggered at the high voltage level you set, when triggered it will dump that excess power to your diversion load. Typically a resistor or heating element, but can be pretty much anything. 3 wires will go from the turbine to a rectifier (there are charge controllers with these built in) then to the batteries. You then still have to add the diversion controller and load.
      This is all following the steps in the video. In the real world where you don't want to burn your shit down, you would add fuses before the controller for the 2 wire and before the rectifier for 3 wire. Personally I think breakers are better here as you can trip them is high winds so there is no power going through and saving your equipment.

I have a 3 wire turbine-charge controller-2 wire to battery, much the same as this set up, BUT I am not retaining power in the battery, when i plug in and switch on the light via inverter it loses power in minutes, from 11.5 v down to 9 on a lightbulb. Could you clarify if there is something I should be putting between the battery and the Inverter,and how many batteries should I have?

      @thebaronvonaphid To be honest, sounds like your battery is dead. How many batteries depends on what you want to power, plus reserve for non windy days. All then balanced by what you can afford

      @@hardlife3844 cheers man, the battery was brand new,fully charged and seemed to be working well.But we have had some hellish storms lately so my worry is that something may have burned out,there is supposedly a braking function but cant see how that could possibly work in 80mph winds.

      @thebaronvonaphid I prefer to divert the load usually to heat water or to make heat. This works. Crazy, but it does. On the battery, I would test it. On a full charge it should . not drop like that. I've seen them not be able to hold a charge, however those were batteries that had been drained to 10V often and Were badly sulfated . Charge it, let it sit overnight and test it, should be minimal if any loss. I switched over to Lifpo4 about 6 months ago and it has made a huge impact on my system for the positive. Been a while since I've had power anxiety

    Why run lights through an inverter? You have a third connection on the controller for 12 volt for lighting, sockets etc that is much more efficient. Not a good example of how to wide stuff up

    The diagram of this man is showing is pretty close to correct they used to make 12 volt DC wind turbines. I purchased two of them they're not the AC 3 phase version . The DC
    version that I bought had three wires one positive one negative and one for the brake. To operate the brake you just unhook the battery and connected to positive on the wind turbine positive to the brake wire and it slows or pretty much stops the wind turbine from damage in high wind situations..

      You either connect them to the batteries with separate controllers or you can buy hybrid controllers that accept wind and solar power. But youneed to get the division of wattage right for your set up. i.e. 300 watt solar plus 200 watt wind.

    People say these wind turbines don't come with enough wiring to go from say top of a house or pole to go into the charge controller. They also say the wiring is like a 3 wire set and it doesn't look like the 2 wire black and red set that solar setups normally use.
    So what kind of wiring are you supposed to get for this part to connect from the wind turbine to the charge controller? And what are you suppose to look for?

      You would also need to pay attention to if you have a 12 volt or a 24 volt turbine. Most parts are either setup for either 12 v or 24 v.

    Well if I want to power heavy equipments or should I say an AC, washing machine, freezer etc. that battery is a crappy parts to be in the process of energy conversion! Can we have a better more reliable option? Or can we exclude the battery in the process? What did the charge controller do? Is it like an AC stabilizer? Then from turbine to AC stabilize to AC! Can it work or not?

      Yes. That's the ideal way to do it. But if you are using power while charging something else it will cut power to whatever you are charging for your battery bank if you have that hooked up. And it is possible to use more power than you are charging if you aren't careful which could end up using power from your battery instead of filling it also.

      Yes most can, some can't. AGM and Lithium batteries can do it mostly.
      The condition of charging is set by the Voltage that the Battery is "run" to charge it. So if it is discharged while it is charged then the 2 way the current goes (higher and lower) settle somewhere inbetween in regarde of it is discharged more power from than it is charged with.

      Yes, they are 3 phase and they should go through a wind controller and then an amp meter (if required) and then connect to your batteries.

    Have you actually tried this with a PWM charge controller? What happens when the input voltage is beyond what the PWM controller can handle. I know there has been some success with MPPT that can handle a much higher input voltage but still there is the problem of no diversion load to keep the wind turbine from over speeding and self destructing.

      @@zahariburgess3660 yes I know thank you. I have a couple turbines with dump loads. I was bringing into question the safety of using a PWM solar charge controller with a wind generator.
      He has no dump load or braking. Also the PWM CC will 0ver volt and burn up in a wind storm.

      For solar setups people say charge controllers by themselves will stop the system from overloading and cut off at some point. At least that's what they are supposed to do. I have only been able to hear this from others though, without seeing it for myself. So confirmation from someone who knows more than me would be ideal? Can someone say for sure that that it works right this way?

      @@noahriding5780 The charge controller used in this video absolutely will not work for a wind generator.
      As for solar power, yes a solar power charge controller as shown in this video will work fine with a solar panel.
      You have to have the right input voltage and total current. If all the right criteria are met the cheap charge controllers work fine.
      I use Midnite Classic, Outback Flexmax and Tristar solar charge controllers in my system. The Charge controllers do keep the batteries from being overcharged. As for inexpensive charge controllers some do not last. Mine are in the $600 dollar range and have been in service since 2008.

    wind turbine is actually an ac generator but the charge controller converts it to dc to charge the battery. then you reconvert it back to ac which is inefficient.

      No, it may work but the wind turbine will not brake during high wind. It is absolutely stupid to us a solar controller for a wind turbine.

      You have a ac turbine and will need to find out your wattage and by a suitable voltage controller to convert it to dc before wiring into the solar controller.
      You may need to look at a dump incase of high winds.
