Damiano is a poet who can turn a sad story into a hauntingly beautiful fairytale. This song makes you feel so many emotions, it truly is like a raging river. I think it will be one of the most meaningful songs in their career, even after decades, cause so many of us have a personal interpretation and emotional link to it, Damiano himself gets emotional singing it, a true gem.
The powerful walls are those of the monumental cemetery in Rome. Coraline believed that if she died nothing would hurt her anymore. Her pain was so great, her confidence in people so low, that his love couldn't save her.
the mother of Damiano said : Coraline is Måneskin, Coraline is Victoria, who suffers from anxiety. Coraline doesn't want to eat, like Damiano, who suffered from an ED when he was only sixteen. Coraline as social anxiety like Ethan. Coraline can't sleep like Thomas
I always thought the castle can be a place in your mind where you close yourself inside to not feeling pain anymore, but can also be a cemetery. I agree with your interpretation so much, it's all about external factors that cause her mental health to go down. I suggest Vent'anni next which is another amazing ballad, or In nome del padre for something hard rock. Also welcome in Maneskin rabbit hole, there's a lot to dig (and probably after the Rush songs will make more sense for you ❤)
Such a powerful and emotional performance… damiano emotions during this performance….😭 Powerful lyrics, powerful voice, powerful talents :)) These guys are really something else!! (at this young age) gives me chills EVERYTIME! Great reaction
Best performance of the best Maneskin song, and honestly one of the best Rock ballads ever. A true masterpiece! Damiano has said in several interviews that he prefers to write lyrics with different possible interpretations, so the listener can relate to what THEY feel. Consequently there is no “correct” meaning. He did however dedicate this performance to his girlfriend who has faced several challenges in her life. For me personally the song reminded me of my granddaughter’s challenges after losing her mother, as well as several young women I’ve known with traumatic childhoods.
all of their italian songs are incredible… they’re honestly such good musicians, if you want to see thomas being insane on the guitar id recommend watching the live of kool kids sirius xm. ps. not sure if someone else has commented but the “castle” is supposedly referencing a cemetery in rome with big walls, essentially saying that she will finally “rest in peace” safely away from anything that will hurt her because she is protected by the walls of the cemetery.
The song tells the story of his girlfriend, she confirm it in an Italian TV program (her name is not really Coraline but Giorgia). She suffers from a disease that is not very well known, although much more frequent than what is known, which causes her a lot of pain. It is called endometriosis, very strong pain in the uterus, some live on morphine and have a very hard time getting pregnant or simply cannot ("she lost the fruit of her womb"). And the doctors paid no attention to her, they said that it was all in her head, for that he said "tell me your truth". And she had family problems, her father abandoned them, etc.
As comments show, there are many different interpretations floating around since Damiano has not been very explicit about his inspiration, other than that the song is based on reality. One very common one is that his girlfriend was the inspiration and in that case the monster in the song would be both chronic pain and depression (which his girlfriend has publically spoken about suffering from) that hinder you from living your life normally, getting out of the door etc. There is also a theory on it being about a troubled friend who committed suicide but this is simply a theory/rumour circling around, origin unknown. Whatever the true inspiration, it surely gives room for a lot of interpretation and yours was a very plausible one too. For me this is their absolutely best work, both lyrically and instrumentally.
She later openly said it's about her. He also said that he shared it with that person, laughing that he knew it would be appreciated. I don't know how some people can still try to spread rumours it's about some poor rape victim burried in Rome.
I think the rendition with this magnificent orchestra is something epic! This piece should be put in a music library and protected from the distruction. The song is already a masterpiece rock ballade but this musical arrangement must be protected. The classic instruments like strings elevate the tone of drama. Great poetry!
The castle exists, it is a large cemetery on the outskirts of Rome, where there are very large walls where souls find a safe shelter, where those who have suffered finally find peace.
I think that a castle with a powerfull walls is like a cemitery 🤔 in d3ad nothing can hurt her anymore (even her own Family) And THANKS for this react, coraline is my favorite song on entirely world ❤
I really appreciated your reaction. And yes, I agree with you Damiano is a poet. When he finally talks about a castle he refers to the Cimitero del Verano in Rome.
Ahh I’ve been wanting you to react to this one since your very first Maneskin reaction. Whether you know the English translation or not the feelings & emotions are so tangible through this I’ve always loved it. Knowing the translation just adds to the emotion & sad beauty of this song.
The song is about a girl that was going trought anxiety and sadness by the missing love of the father and the waiting of a knight to save her...it's so sad but also beautiful! Anyway great job keep it up! ❤ greetings from Italy 🇮🇹 -Emma
Beautiful reaction to this song masterpiece. Coraline treats a sad story. In the end Damiano speaks of "a castle with such powerful walls that if you want to live inside it nothing will be able to affect it anymore" and this castle refers to the cemetery of Rome. Coraline is not a real person, or rather the song is dedicated to a real person who is not named Coraline. In reality, behind this pseudonym is Damiano's girlfriend or Giorgia Soleri. Coraline does not speak - or at least not only - of an eating disorder. It is enough to know the story of Giorgia Soleri to understand that the verses of the song tell her story: that of a girl fighting against two strong disorders of the female genital system, endometriosis and vulvodynia. The ending, however obvious it is, is to say that the struggle, however hard it is, ends in death but as long as there is life, the only thing to do is fight and continue.
Damiano is a real poet and in this case more than ever. Coraline is his girlfriend, this song is for her and how much she soffered and soffers in his life. Is a real ‘love you so much. Stay quiet I’m here’ ❤ knowing he talks with his heart is so precious
Hi, Damiano wrote this song for his girlfriend Giorgia Soleri because she suffered from Vulvodynia. She wanted to raise awareness for all women who suffer from it.

The Coraline song is inspired by the story of Giorgia Solieri, Damiano David's girlfriend (declared by him right after this performance) who had serious health problems (which still exist) from the age of 16 and because of which she also lost a son. But it is a song that, like many others of this emotional level, touch the experience of the listener and can have many entirely personal interpretations. Sorry Google translate.
@@DarlingDaisy97 Giorgia had an abortion but I don't know who the father would have been. However, the song took inspiration from Giorgia but took its own path becoming a fairy tale without a happy ending where many people with different experiences could recognize themselves.

Rome's monumental cemetery, the Verano, is also called 'the castle' because of its high walls. But the person who inspired the song is alive and standing next to him.

there are no interpretations, these people only invent. Damiano himself, who is the singer and who writes the lyrics, told after this performance that Coraline is his girlfriend, she has that name tattooed on her. His girlfriend suffers from vulvodynia, a disease that until recently was not even recognized. Every time she went to the doctor because she couldn't stand the pain, he made her see that it was all in her head, that it wasn't real. Due to feeling so misunderstood, she fell into depression, feeling that she was worthless, as the first part of the song tells. If you analyze the second part, you will see how Damiano sings it in the first person, not in the third person as at the beginning, and tells her that he will be everything to her, that he will help her, that every tear of hers causes him a lot of pain... and that place that he says at the end is Damiano. She can feel safe in his arms This is the reality of the song told by Damiano himself
He never said such thing...he only ever said that she encouraged him to write this song, it doesn't mean in anyway that it's about her, but people took that statement and started twisting it and making up things. He made it clear that he doesn't want people to know who he's really talking about.
@@vpersiana do you know how work? believing what damiano tells you!! believing what her girlfriend confirmed in an interview that everyone can see, where she says damiano sent her the song, which he did in a hotel room while thomas played the guitar, and instantly knew he was talking about her life do you know how this works? accepting that damiano wrote Coraline and coraline is his girlfriend, as much as that bothers you
@@sheila_quin8582 i mean that the fact something is inspired by something that happened irl doesn't mean that there can't be any interpretation about it since artists constantly use personal experiences to talk about universal feelings. coraline is inspired by her, this doesn't mean there's no any aristic freedom in it, neither Damiano ever said that is exactly the story of her life but that is inspired by his gf. otherwise we can stop resonate on any work of art, song or poetry and just look at the artist life to see what inspired it and take it as the only answer lmao a bit banal no?

and i will double down on my previous suggestions just in case: zitti e buoni (official video is hella cool, but their performance on eurovision final is such a jam), vent'anni, le parole lontane, moriro da re, la paura del buio (radio italia live), in nome del padre, l'altra dimensione
:)
I knew about her lost but was it his? Or from another relationship?
@@DarlingDaisy97 Giorgia had an abortion but I don't know who the father would have been. However, the song took inspiration from Giorgia but took its own path becoming a fairy tale without a happy ending where many people with different experiences could recognize themselves.
@@tasso_viola2011 yeah... It was either his or from a relationship right before him. Because she said she got it done in 2017 and that's when they started dating🤷🏻♀️ Either way it's really sad for both of them, and i'm glad she's good now.
Damiano wrote it for his girlfriend at the time, it's her story.
Have you seen the video of the performance at the Eurovisio Song Contest?
well look at it...masterful
and thanks from Italy🇮🇹❤️🙏
Damiano confirmed that it was written about his fiancé Giorgia Soleri

Rome's monumental cemetery, the Verano, is also called 'the castle' because of its high walls. But the person who inspired the song is alive and standing next to him.
Hey Clelia. Is that Victoria, or a secret? I'm dying to know. Sorry for asking.
I remember Vic had a deep crisis aged 14.
@@henrikmunk450 No. Giorgia Soleri, Damiano's girlfriend, inspired the story. But don't ask me how, because nobody knows. She is alive, happy and active, even with some not insignificant health problems.
@@clelia7820 Thx. Clelia. Yes I know about that. Giorgia comes across as a
strong character, and raising such a topic seems powerful.
And Damiano being a good person, picks it up in lyrics. Beautiful.

😘
You have got to react to all the new twenty one pilots MTV unplugged renditions.

Hi, would you please do a reaction of their new song "trastevere", beautiful english song❤
there are no interpretations, these people only invent.
She can feel safe in his arms
This is the reality of the song told by Damiano himself
The fact the song is about some real facts doesn't mean there can't be various interpretations, that's not how it works.
He never said such thing...he only ever said that she encouraged him to write this song, it doesn't mean in anyway that it's about her, but people took that statement and started twisting it and making up things. He made it clear that he doesn't want people to know who he's really talking about.
@@vpersiana do you know how work?
believing what damiano tells you!! believing what her girlfriend confirmed in an interview that everyone can see, where she says damiano sent her the song, which he did in a hotel room while thomas played the guitar, and instantly knew he was talking about her life
do you know how this works? accepting that damiano wrote Coraline and coraline is his girlfriend, as much as that bothers you
@@sheila_quin8582 i mean that the fact something is inspired by something that happened irl doesn't mean that there can't be any interpretation about it since artists constantly use personal experiences to talk about universal feelings.
coraline is inspired by her, this doesn't mean there's no any aristic freedom in it, neither Damiano ever said that is exactly the story of her life but that is inspired by his gf.
otherwise we can stop resonate on any work of art, song or poetry and just look at the artist life to see what inspired it and take it as the only answer lmao a bit banal no?
Btw i see in your comment you have lots of takes that are your own interpretation since i never read any of them saying she feels safe crying in his arms and stuff 😂
so is ok only when you do it?
Please, react to mumford and sons - believe
a cemetery
after anorexia, depression he takes his life...the castle is the cemetery
are you Chris Evans?
Coraline was a girl abused by her father. She made a suicide. Castle means cementery... It's a real and very sad story told by Damiano (singer)!
Damiano knew her and he become very emotional when he sing this song live.
Thanks a lot for this and other reactions of Maneskin! 🙏
Isn't Coraline his girlfriend? She didn't die. But she suffered a lot and and she also had an abortion before meeting Damiano, that explains the last part
Coraline was a girl who both know. Damiano's girlfriend ask him to write a song about her.
I searched it and you're right!
@@tinaropotar8508 no, it was said directly that Gorgia IS Coraline.
Hi..I just wanted to tell you something...when you comment on a group in your videos, the minimum thing is to find out about the exact names of the group in the manner of someone who comments in a professional way...because I see that the web is full of people who they comment on songs but they understand nothing about music... if you want to be professional before commenting on a band the first thing is to know all the names of the guys in the band
Please reaction " Cakra Khan - Angels like you " by Miley Cyrus 🙏
Thx. You did really well. You couldn't know that all the emotions here comes from the fact,
that a girl Damiano knew committed suicide, self-destruction, so it's real. This is the Crown Jewel
of the 100's of videos of Måneskin, with their arguably best song and the by far best performance,
they did a Torna a Casa, coming home to their base, Italy, after conquering the World. Peace.
It's a true story about a friend that had a mad and abusive childhood inside her family (her father) and the only way to come out of that for her were stop eating and let herself die and go to rest in peace in the castle that is the cemetery😢 RIP little Coraline❤
Reaction Fall on me Andrea Bocelli Matteo Bocelli 🙏
Nessun cimitero e nessun abuso.
This song is about Damiano's girlfriend. A girl who has and continues to have serious health problems but is fighting like a lion to have a normal life and above all to raise awareness of the problem she has and, like her, many girls and women. A masterpiece.
