    Awesome idea to yank the travel trailer with the W900, but can I make one...ONE suggestion...put some full fenders over the drives on the W900! Just to prevent things from being flung up from the drives damaging the trailer. Just a small suggestion is all!

    Bonus of having the W900 haulin the trailer, you now have additional sleeping area should you have visitors whilst out camping. Keep the content coming, loving your positive outlook on life's challenges

I want to install a pintle hitch and ball hitch on mine because I’ve had good paying opportunities while out there OTR hauling but I wasn’t equipped and had to turn off those jobs….smdh lol so I want to be prepared…..cheers from Houston tx..👍🏽😎

    That’s how a lot of us haul our fifth wheels
    Drive a man’s truck and not an over priced truck that has a short life span from the boys department
    My VNL 780 Volvo was purpose built to haul loads of all sizes
    And yes I have also used my bumper pull to haul trailers of all types
    I use a jackalopee converter to power the trailer lights
    Nice job
    Be safe

    Darn! I coulda made this almost exact video last January! Everything from the pickup broke down….actually too cheap to spend 40 to 80K for a more dependable one, behind schedule, the brake light turn signal issue plus a few more like the brake controller not working (it was in the trailer)! Made mine from scratch except I hired a real welder to finish it! Although back in the day I could weld just about anything. At 65 don’t see that good anymore and maybe 15 minutes of welding in the last 10 years and have no business doing something like this!
    3500 miles! Drive tires at 35 psi and the best ride ever! Huge mirrors! Sit up higher to see traffic! Cruise control all the time! Not much would be more reliable and it been paid for for awhile! Who needs a new pickup? Big trucks are selling so cheap right so why sell it? Now planning my retirement around traveling for a bit this way with the wife and two maybe three dogs! Great video!!!

    Need a Jackalope:
    The Jackalopee provides a compact, high quality, electrical interface between truck and trailer. It converts the 3 light DOT truck system to the 2 light RV system. It has provisions for 12 V DC power, brake controller wiring, and other options.*
    Converts the DOT truck wiring for brakes, running lights, and directionals to the RV or trailer system
    Has a provision for a brake controller, backup and running lights and 12 volt power to your RV or trailer
    System status LEDs are visible through the clear top cover of the Jackalopee converter
    Converter is housed in a water proof enclosure
    Charging and braking section rated at 60 amps. Lighting section rated at 40 amps.

    That's not to bad and you're right you can't tell that it's back there. I have a 379 Pete with a 282 inch wheelbase and one time I was doing some belly dump work by Bliss Idaho and I had my 40 foot 3 axle belly dump and behind that I had a pup trailer and behind that I had my 30 foot bumper pull and decided to get it all home to Idaho falls in one shot. It was not only fun but interesting pulling all of that through the narrow windy 2 lane road Craters of the Moon National Monument. Passed a couple cop's but I don't think that they wanted to do any extra paperwork on a Friday. Lol.... 😂

    One of our best friends lives with my wife and I and she recently bought a Keystone Passport, same size as yours with dual slide outs, but pulls it with her Chevy Tahoe. It’ll do it, but it’s not exactly happy doing so. I’ve told her numerous times both before and after she bought it, that the Tahoe isn’t made for it. THIS though is a great idea. I’ve always thought it’d be awesome to get a used single axle day cab to pull it since I have a CDL, so I’ll be showing her this.

    Do you have to hook up your trailer brakes or does the big truck brakes good enough

    • @kw900lkevin
      @kw900lkevin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should, you can buy a controller that receives a air input signal and converts to electrical to actuate the electric trailer brakes

      👆🏻What kw900lkevin said - we couldn’t get one of those controllers in time before our trip to do that on ours but that’s the plan to get on before the next trip, but yes, if you are wondering the truck brakes do stop it just fine but we would feel better with that air to electric setup 👍

    This is a really bad idea. What about all the stickers on the frame rails that say do not weld or drill on the flanges and what about your ABS without any weight on your drives? I bet it doesn’t work very well. I’ll bet your tires lock up real easy.

      @@TruckingTogether I’ve heard that you can’t drill cut the frame of the truck

    • @TruckingTogether
      @TruckingTogether  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You shouldn’t but it’s not against the law. Frames get drilled, cut, spliced everyday. People stretch trucks all the time, it’s not against the law.

      @@TruckingTogether awesome 👏. I wonder if all police 👮‍♀️ and all dot specific are aware of that! lol. Not being argumentative, In my experience, some officers don’t know law and enforce what they think and feel is law! I try not to open the door for any police scrutiny. I have not had a speed ticket in 26yrs , I’m almost 3 million miles accident free. All it takes is 1 officer who doesn’t understand your not currently making money with your truck to have a bad day. Hope y’all have a wonderful vacation ✌️👍🤠
