    In this video, you will learn how to use Regions in Revit. This includes filled regions and masking regions. All regions are 2D elements are only usable in 2D views. They are used primarily to change the look or override parts of a view to achieve the desired result using hatch patterns. Hatch patterns are what is used to create the filled region. You can use both foreground and background regions like anything else in Revit to get the right look. Be sure to rename the filled region type to reflect the region itself. Masking regions are essentially solid white opaque filled regions. Use them to mask out or remove things with white. For both regions, you can change the borderline type for the right look as well. Finally, filled regions can be masked in the type properties so you cannot see through the hatch pattern (formerly opaque) and unmasked to see through the hatch pattern (formerly transparent). Thanks for watching!

    My man, I love you, a Revit course I'm taking didn't say a s*** about what I had to do to put a region and it works quite different than Autocad, you just saved my life. Subscribed already.

    Great video, I'd be have cool to associate a material to a filled region to monitor color and hatch.

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can see how that would be useful. The way Revit sets up their materials is that you do not have to use a region to get the hatch patters of a material to show up because that is built into the material. I can see the advantage to associating a material to a region for more specific detailing though.

    Very clear vedio..thanks ... can you please advise when it is good idea to lock the Filled regions with the model walls etc..

      Thank you! It is entirely up to you when you do that, just know that you may get more error due to increased constraints down the road.

    I have been using Revit for about 10 years now, and use Filled Regions quite often for a variety of reasons. I have recently switched to Revit 2023 and today I noticed that all my colors when added to a filled region are dimmed, so that Black is now light Gray, Magenta is more pink. It is driving me crazy. Any ideas of what might be causing this? Thanks, and I love your videos!

      Oh wow, I have not heard of that! Almost sounds like a there's an overlay or something like that but I have not seen that before. I will keep an eye out for this though.

    Tags and dimension lines don't get masked by any of these regions (or at least in my drawing file they don't...). Is there a way to affect them with region or region mask?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct they do not for even masking regions. They are different as they are not considered annotation like regions. I unfortunately do not have a solution for you unless you add those masks inside the tag.

    Congratulations nice tutorial. Do you know how to draw a masking region with a hole on it in Revit? (something like a donut)

    good information...but when convert a layout into pdf, even after provide transparency for a solid hatch pattern still in pdf its a solid hatch, transparency is not working..so please tell the printing settings

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything printed from Revit will end up being opaque. The transparency in hatches or regions applied to Revit elements. My guess is that maybe why you see what you see.

    how to change order back other elements..?
    thanks your tutorial

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I apologize if I do not understand your question. If you want to change the order that the regions appear when you have them on top of other regions, then with a region selected you can "move to front/back". You can also "move forward/backward". Forward/backward will only move the position of the currently selected region forward or backward one "space". What I mean by that is moving one element in front of the next instead of moving in front of all regions. Imagine stacking pieces of paper on top of each other, selecting one, then using these move options with regions. I hope that helps!

    I am having furniture in my model and i want to hatch the rooms, problem is the region appearing on the furniture, how to make it invisible?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would make sure the materials are different and maybe just use a material for the floor instead of a filled region. Your furniture maybe flat or not 3D which would be why you see the hatch.

    could you tell me please How to merge dimensions in Revit?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is unfortunately no really way to do that other than editing the dimension string and manually adding new dimension strings or removing them by tracking them back to dimensions currently shown in the string.

    How do you put a filled region in elevation view of a family?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In a family, assuming it is a 3D model, you can go to the elevation view and add a masking region. You can also add a separate detail component family, which could be your actual filled region.
