I’m a Memphis fan and we did exactly what we’ve done all year. Stupid fouls, dumb turnovers, and no composure down the stretch. This was actually Penny’s best coaching job considering the players.
Memphis & Virginia literally threw their games away. Say what you want about the ref but the fact is Memphis had possession with 16 seconds and it all went wrong.
I'm still seething about how Virginia lost. Our veteran, our floor general, could've just taken the foul and put the game away. But nope, let's just YEET it down the floor

Davis imploded after that injury and it was infectious to the team.. he should not have been in the game

Where the officials reviewed a shot clock violation which they aren’t allowed to do unless the ball went through then put time back on and FAU hit a 3

This was just bad coaching on Memphis. Both those guys weren’t aware of where Williams (#12) was in that inbound play. And their frontcourt was so hesitant to come help for some reason

The players have to execute and be aware. Not much coaching you can do when it's back and forth like that with seconds on the clock and everybody scrambling. You just try to teach guys to keep their composure.

The part with them showing the Memphis players on the bench trying to call time out reminds me of that episode of "Fresh Prince of Belair" where will was on the basketball team and had virtually the whole team wide open with their hands in the air waving begging him to pass the ball to them but he wouldn't.

1. He had that pass from under the basket to the headband guy near the FAU sideline. Instead he threw it back to the trap.
2. After the trap, the next pass while he was running was easily to 25 ahead of him. Or if he's still panicking, 55 was a safer throw.
Makes you wonder if these guys ever learned to break a press
Edit: then on the last play, they refuse again to pass to headband, who has a better chance at getting it off.

He turned the ball over and literally made an amazing defensive play after a horrible mistake and got the ball back but unfortunately the time out didn’t go in their favor ! That’s kid is gonna have a hard time dealing with pressure of that mistake , he will be better next year he showed me that when he got the steal
If you watched the game he was too emotional and got into a shoving match with his teammate that changed the trajectory of the game

Didn’t watch the game last night just tuning into this the fact that the refs didn’t grant that time out when Memphis had clear possession is bad. Memphis made an awful mistake with that pass but man the refs screwed them big time
Memphis makes a horrible turnover, now the media wants to drum up controversy for a missed timeout during a chaotic scramble for the ball...🙄
Or or the 3 pt shot where Davis for Memphis shot the ball and the fau player stepped into his landing area causing an ankle injury. When you step into where a shooter is going to land it's an automatic flagrant foul 2 shots and the ball for memphos. Or when Memphis blocked a shot as the time expired on the shot clock and because it's not reviewable because the ball didn't touch the rim. the ball should have went to Memphis but the refs reviewed the play anyway and still have fau the ball with 0.6 seconds and they score 2 and beat Memphis by 1. Or when a fau player elbowed a Memphis player in the back of the head and he went to the floor but he got called with the foul. Or when a fau player pushed a Memphis player and when the Memphis player pushed him back he got hit with a flagrant foul. You can pick from any of those calls by the refs to point out why the tigers lost. The refs fucked that team.

Memphis player Davis was right next to The cheating Ref who did claims after the game that he didn't see the Memphis player call for the timeout !!! It was Memphis that had possession of the ball and FAU was given the ball. Memphis got robbed and that's absolutely BS that this Refs charged the out come of this game!!!
