    I study and work in a PWI... Its so hard sometimes; allot of unfairness.Speaking up for whats right or even using your energy to focus on it can be at the cost of aspirations and success. I realized that I held in allot of resentment and i have to find a healthy way to let it go to save my mental health. There is so little of specifically black Americans in STEM. I just had to realize that allot of the stuff I deal with comes from a lack of exposure and ignorance in this profession. I gave up on getting white people to understand me as a black man. I just take the hits and keep moving so that I can be the person I didn't have growing up.... the proof that people of my skin color can exist in this arena.

      Cyrus Folami I have worked in the STEM field for over 40 years and I am a women as the name implies. You just ignore people and keep your head up and keep it moving. I have seen first hand how the few black men are treated in corporate America and heavy STEM fields and I have seen many of them rise above it. So just keep moving it forward. This Black and Brown nonsense these Liberals have come up with is just some more BS. Brown people (People from India, Asians, and Hispanics are on the move) are doing great. Instead of following these Liberals and getting nothing in return we need to focus on taking over IT like our Brown brothers and sisters from India have done.

Its just like saying do as the chinese, korean and japanese are doing and dominate technology. Indians are also Asian. My mom lived segregation. Conservatives love to bring up 13-50 when it comes to black population that is the narrative that we have been living after the assassination of MLK. our narrative changed from freedom fighters to criminals and thugs but people want us to blexit. i dont trust either liberals or conservatives. • @jampanther8846
      @jampanther8846 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeanSpencerr Sadly America will NEVER HAVE a 3rd party. Voting outside the 2 party system is a throw away vote and you might as well stay home then. The money and power is divided into Blue and Red. The system they built won't allow a 3rd party to exist. Which is why people like Bernie runs as a Democrat when he's really not. He wouldn't have gotten as far as he did going independent and knew it would only divide the Democrat votes in November helping Trump and the Republican party win.

      DatBoyC 88 and you’ve proven exactly WHY America will never have a 3rd party. They’ve conditioned primarily democratic voters to believe that a 3rd party vote is a “throw away” vote. The FEC is a federal non-partisan uninvolved party that wages the presidential vote. If 5% of the presidential vote turns out for 3rd party they’ll be officially recognized as a the 3rd official party. Duopoly officially over. STOP SETTLING FOR LESS!

    I grew up in the same town as Bakari in Denmark, SC. Unless you have been through a struggle growning up in a small town you will never understand the struggles of small town kids everywhere. Our town is predominantly black while other towns near are mixed. Growing up with an average of 1 or 2 white or latin kids your whole life is different than these schools that are mixed races. Bakari I salute you my brother. Our state doesn't support these rural areas where schools are run down but passed down like used clothes. It would be good if some of you can read about the Corridor of Shame and see how some states have same issues that we had to grow up with. If it wasn't Bakari we wouldn't have a new library for the new generation of kids to read new books. I dispise people that talk down on others but yet you sit here and comment but you yourself not doing anything to change the world or getting your name out as an advocate for people of color. Everyone are entitled to there own opinions but just make sure your own story is worth telling before bashing someone else's.

      I don't consider him a sellout the same way I do about Ben Carson or Clearance Thomas, but Sellers is part of what Malcolm X called the Black Bourgeoisie, who'll choose their class interests over racial solidarity with poor and working-class Black people when they're pressed.
      He'll talk that pro-Black shit as long as the rich White people he gets checks allow it.

      I don't like him however i don't mind him doing his job. He is paid to criticize anybody that champions working class policies. What tells me more about him is his support for AIPAC. That tells me more about him than anything else he does.

    Love the convo and glad to hear his wife & child are doing better but yes maternal morality among our black women is in my opinion a top 5 issue among a number of issues that Black Americans need to deal with. From either of these horrible candidates which is not surprising, I haven't heard Jack Shyt regarding this problem. These discussions as well as an agenda for this needs to be push and I hope more will voice these concerns and we can have strategies on pushing this forward. You know the saying when it comes to sexual assault how we should listen to women but believe all proof? With Maternal morality I believe its "shut up and let black women talk"

    Lord I just saw Bakari on C-Span sobbing about racism. I am just sorry we as a people need to just man-up. We are never going to get anywhere if we constantly present ourselves as constant victims. Sure we have the Emmett Tills in our history but we have warriors in our history too. Damn we need to focus on our warrior spirit and stop let these Liberals constantly present ourselves as weaklings.
