I agree with Edvin, I think a Young Royals and Heartstopper crossover is a bit much they are both very great shows but both have completely different settings and moods that I don't think would blend together well!

But: Young Royals needs a dark and hyper realistic style, while Heartstopper contradicts that with a need for a light and hyper romantic style. That's impossible to bridge, and here is why: the story world of Young Royals is unrealistic: a boarding school where a crown prince gets enchanted by the singing of a socialist low class boy. It feels however realistic, because of the realism in style: the characters have for example pretty heavy acne, which gives it even a documentary feel. Compare that to Heartstopper: the arena is from the start believable: a regular school where boy meets boy. It is so realistic, that it is almost dull, but the hyper romantic, even cartoonesque style doesn't make it dull at all. Now, imagine a Swedish prince covered with acne in an English school with kids with beautiful skin covered in a layer of cartoon butterflies, flowers and hearts... it would harm both story worlds. Both storylines will fall apart.
In Sweden everyone learns English already in primary school 🙂 That's why all the cast of YR speaks English and they all do the English dubbing of YR themselves. From age 14 to 18 Omar was in a very popular Swedish boyband that sang in English.

I personally think a big reason for this is is because we are one of the few countries who never dub movies or tv shows (except movies for very young children, for obvious reasons), so we all grew up with subtitles and thus were exposed to a lot of English! Btw, I'm not trying to diminish the fact that they are very good at English, I just mean it's very common in Sweden :)

They carry their characters with them, thinking about how they feel, put a playlist to understand their emotions more and more. That's exactly what makes yr a good show, the incredible cast and crew. They saved my life just by their existence I will never thank them enough ! I love their characters but even more them at all, they are such a safe place and I when I don’t feel good, see them is like a medicine lol

"Young Royals" is far better than I thought it would be! Honestly I have watched it numerous times! I love everything about! I have watched "Heartstopper" as well and I loved! I think a crossover would be super weird! I know that Omar and Edvin say otherwise, but I find the shows so dramatically different that a crossover would not be great. "Young Royals" is very serious, and plays on some tremendously interesting issues. "Heartstopper" is fun, feel good show. I love "Heartstopper", and there is so much to love! Please no crossover.

This was a really great interview with interesting questions. Love to see that as opposed to other junkets where they ask trite or asinine questions. You can tell the interviewer actually respects and has watched the show.
The easiest Crossover would be if they let Crown Prince Wilhelm make a LGBTQ+ related public statement (going public with his relationship) in english for the international media and it spreads through social media and Nick and Charlie watch it together. (The interviewer who wanted to interview Simon spoke English) Nick and Charlie could then post a sweet comment and Simon could show it to Wille.
A crossover wouldn't be good, the shows works on completely different vibes.. but.. that being said... people go on vacation.. They could just pass in the background as tourists, as an easter egg... that alone would blow peoples mind :)

Soo.... How about a crossover special in maybe an alternate universe? Wille and Simon run away together, and run into the Paris gang on a vacation. On a serious note though, I see why a crossover would be a bit hard. Both shows are amazing, but their general vibe is just completely different (even if a latter part of Heartstopper will be a bit darker than usual), so that would be hard to balance out. Maybe a honeymoon phase for Young Royals - a bit happier tinted than usual, and a relaxing vacation for the Paris gang after Charlie gets home from the hospital - a bit more somber than usual.
regarding a crossover between heartstopper and young royals, what with them being such different shows and them taking place in different countries it's pretty much impossible and wouldn't really work out anyway, but it would be cool with some sort of easter egg type thing? like, one of the heartstopper characters is scrolling though their social media page and an article about the "swedish gay prince scandal" flashes by on screen or something, that could be cool! just as a little nod that both series exist in the same universe as each other

A crossover wouldn't be good, the shows works on completely different vibes.. but.. that being said... people go on vacation.. They could just pass in the background as tourists, as an easter egg... that alone would blow peoples mind :)

Soo.... How about a crossover special in maybe an alternate universe? Wille and Simon run away together, and run into the Paris gang on a vacation.
On a serious note though, I see why a crossover would be a bit hard. Both shows are amazing, but their general vibe is just completely different (even if a latter part of Heartstopper will be a bit darker than usual), so that would be hard to balance out.
Maybe a honeymoon phase for Young Royals - a bit happier tinted than usual, and a relaxing vacation for the Paris gang after Charlie gets home from the hospital - a bit more somber than usual.

regarding a crossover between heartstopper and young royals, what with them being such different shows and them taking place in different countries it's pretty much impossible and wouldn't really work out anyway, but it would be cool with some sort of easter egg type thing? like, one of the heartstopper characters is scrolling though their social media page and an article about the "swedish gay prince scandal" flashes by on screen or something, that could be cool! just as a little nod that both series exist in the same universe as each other
