I’m old school Pond big time and absolutely love this release. Surprisingly, I really dig Sunrise for the Lonely and O, UV Ray… not ragers but very cool tracks. Great post! ✌🏼
Awesome! Awesome video! Pond is my favorite band, and I’ve never sought out a review until now. I had no one to discuss Pond with for the longest time, and with the release of this album, I was definitely looking for other people’s thoughts on it. I resonated with a lot that you said here. The front half of the album carries the more addictive and instantly gratifying tracks. They’re a LOT of fun, and for the classic Pond fan, there’s a ton to love, but the last few songs, they definitely try some new stuff. After the first listen I was unsure, but O’UV rays and Elephant Gun have grown on me sooo much after a few listens and have become favorites for me. Great video, and it was great to hear another persons perspective on my favorite band. THANK YOU!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!!! I definitely agree! I have lots more Pond content on my channel too! Thanks again for your comment. Sometimes I get worried nobody cares about my non King Gizzard videos so it means a lot to get feedback like this!
Keep reviewing any the music you love and the videos will always be great! Also, I thought of another instrumental attributed to Pond on Spotify. It’s called “Bali Waters” and I think it’s part of a really good surf documentary soundtrack.
love it!! what a great album. Was kind of worried it wouldn't be as good as their last few but it absolutely delivered. Looking forward to hearing the news songs live.
I just finished listening to it! I agree with your review. Though, I loved every song from constant picnic to boys don't crash. The songs after were good! But idk, it just started to drag a little for me. Like I could feel it get harder to pay attention a little towards the back half.
Welcome back! I’ve decided that since i love kglw so much, i’m gonna listen to Pond, and similar bands like MGMT, Beans, and GUM. I also got to see the Rolling Stones last night and I’m happy to say they stayed alive for the whole show. It was so awesome. Now it’s time to relax woth a bagel and enjoy the lastest video. Also let me know any recommendations of any more gizzard-esque bands.
Based off of the cover and song titles it’s probably gonna have a lot of references to pis and airplanes. We’ll probably hear the phrase “when pigs fly” on it a lot
Okay now that I’ve formed opinions I think I’ll give my track ranking (ofc this most likely will change in the future) 1. (I’m) Stung 2. Edge of the World Pt.3 3. Neon River 4. Black Lung 5. O, UV Ray 6. So Lo 7. Elephant Gun 8. Constant Picnic 9. Elf Bar Blues 10. Sunrise For The Lonely 11. Fell From Grace With The Sea 12. Last Elvis 13. Boys Don’t Crash 14. Stars In Silken Sheets This was SUPER hard to rate since a lot of them I like on the same level and could be interchangeable. I will say I need more time with Last Elvis, Boys Don’t Crash, and Fell From Grace With The Sea. They are really awesome but haven’t FULLY clicked yet.
5:42 What are you talking about? 30k Megatons is a really intense song and definitely not chill lol. Nice flash in the pan shirt, been eager to find it on Vinyl. I just finished listening to it for the first time and here are some initial thoughts: one thing that you missed but will pick up on soon is that the lyrics are just once again brilliant. Nick is so talented for lyrics writing. I also MASSIVELY appreciate instrumental and "solos" throughout the album. I had about 5 or 6 audible "Yeahs" listening to this through the first time. Boys don't crash reminds me a bit of In a glasshouse with no light by GUM. If I had to guess that outro was a recording of Jay and his child but I'm not sure. I definitely agree that it'll take more listens to catch on to some of these songs, the latter half didn't blow my mind like Saturnia did but there's a lot to chew on here. Elephant Gun was awesome.

The child at the end of Boys Don’t Crash is Jay Watson’s son! Just read it in a review
Cool!!!! So cute.

Hung out with them on Friday at the Listening party, Kev and Soph were there too, Absolute mint night
I felt the same about “I’m Stung” Shiny and Gumby’s guitar work is so ethereal.
