This is an excellent movie, many people particularly in Tamil Nadu would have a problem with the fact that the movie characters were not represented the way it was in real life. But I personally don't appreciate people to learn history or any kind of moral values through movies. If you ask me I hate discrimination not just because of a movie, it coz I have a brain and it says I have to treat people equally irrespective of their caste, gender, sexual orientation. As a Movie lover I loved it and was crying literally. I felt the pain of the people who are going through such discriminations.

I would really recommend Jaby and Achara to read about the caste system in India, its history, its impact in today's Indian (irrespective of religion or whether or not the Uppper Caste people are in India or as immigrants of other countries). I especially recommend works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jotirao Phule and Periyar who were social reformers and the pioneers of the anti-caste movement. In the contemproruy world, works of Suraj Yengde, Yashica Dutt, Meena Kandasamy etc. Casteism is a disease in India... as systemic and as state sanctioned as racism in the US. But unlike state sanction, it is also religiously sanctioned by Hinduism. Learning about it will help you appreciate these kind of socio-political movies a lot better, with a whole new depth.

The fantasy given to the indian public is usually about an 'encounter specialist' cool police hero, who 'solves' cases 'quickly', and cute/funny names for all the creative torture methods. This is the reason why when any gruesome incident gets public attention, people call for the 'encounter' of the accused even before any fair trail happens. Meanwhile, this is the reality in 99% of such cases.
What shown in movie just 1% and still this kind of offence happening throughout India.. In india Dalit, women's and minorities lives matter every second..!

I would really recommend Jaby and Achara to read about the caste system in India, its history, its impact in today's Indian (irrespective of religion or whether or not the Uppper Caste people are in India or as immigrants of other countries). I especially recommend works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jotirao Phule and Periyar who were social reformers and the pioneers of the anti-caste movement. In the contemproruy world, works of Suraj Yengde, Yashica Dutt, Meena Kandasamy etc. Casteism is a disease in India... as systemic and as state sanctioned as racism in the US. But unlike state sanction, it is also religiously sanctioned by Hinduism. Learning about it will help you appreciate these kind of socio-political movies a lot better, with a whole new depth.

There are chapters and even entire books that just span the Mughal History or the British History. Meanwhile the history of say the Sikhs, Rajputs, Marathas, Cholas, Cheras, Pandyas, Ahoms, Bengalis, etc. have been summarised in paragraphs. At the most they get a page or two worth of history. That's just the sad state of our History Education focusing on the history of our oppressors rather than the history of the people of this land...

That is because someone mentioned that they are disgracing their community by using a symbol which is on a calendar in the background in some scene. That scene doesn't even focus on the calendar. It's just placed there to show that the year is 1995. Even after the director has clarified on that still they are going against Surya because he was the producer.

9 years actually. Here they showed the first part of the case. The second part of the case was to confirm the punishment to the cops which ran in the criminal Court. That went very long.

The fantasy given to the indian public is usually about an 'encounter specialist' cool police hero, who 'solves' cases 'quickly', and cute/funny names for all the creative torture methods. This is the reason why when any gruesome incident gets public attention, people call for the 'encounter' of the accused even before any fair trail happens.
Meanwhile, this is the reality in 99% of such cases.
What shown in movie just 1% and still this kind of offence happening throughout India..

Apart from producing and showing everyone around the world how irulars and low caste people live still in India, he also donated Rs.1,00,000,00.00 INR to the Pazhankudi Irular Educational trust for the welfare of irular community and also gave an amount to the real life Sengini, who's name is Parvathy.... It is sad that still lots of people suffer this caste based differentiation... hope everything will change one day...
You two are excellent and sharp in your observations and articulating it for better understanding even at a layman level. Jai Bhim is a fantastic movie of social ills, oppression of tribal community, atrocities by the police, lawer combo and winning a battle at the end, good and law prevails.
