American here. For all of the problems my country has, I'm glad that at least where I live, this kind of thing is not an issue. There really isn't much traffic enforcement, yet there doesn't seem to have been a significant uptick in wrecks, and the sky has not fallen. The stories I've heard about the draconian traffic laws and enforcement in the U.K. on the other hand are positively Orwellian.
Things have come to a pretty pass when drug dealers, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and other scum seemingly operate with impunity, while tax paying and otherwise law abiding citizens are hassled, surveilled, and repeatedly robbed by the state. These kinds of double standards undermine the social contract and erode the legitimacy of government.

A superb explanation Dave! After 44 years on the road and 1 sp30 or sp40......can't remember which, other than it was on Crossflatts back in the eighties.........and a speed awareness course.....I really was aggrieved about that one but didn't challenge it, I consider myself a safe and courteous driver. I have also, on one occasion been given guidance by the white caps......as a young daft lad........the eighties again......as I wheelied straight past a traffic officer on his flat twin BMW!! Now he gave young (not so) "dangerous" Dave a good old talking to.......and it worked!!! The automation of detection results in just one thing.........the raising of vast revenues from those of us who actually comply with all the necessary "paperwork" required to own and operate a vehicle. It's becoming just too "1984" for me. A proper bollocking is never forgotten........somehow, an automated computer generated kick in the nuts just promotes resentment of a system loaded against otherwise decent people. Rant over!! Beautiful ride out there Dave.......struggling to identify it though????? Oooh......as regards the combination lock, I did chuckle I'm afraid.......my money is on the wife again!!🤣
    Go steady!
    Dave (N. Yorks) 👍

I am going back a few years ago, but I challenged a speed offence, while driving HGV. I was doing 49 mph in a 50 mph limit on cruise control, in a average speed camera zone, they said I was averaged 55! at no time I had not travelled above 53 mph. When I produced a tachograph copy along with the tachograph calibration certificate which was done fortnight earlier in court it was thrown out of court, it also turned out the (unsafety) cameras was not in date with the calibration, I was lucky enough to have both a Transport and my Transport Company back myself up on this case, I was just glad I was not on my motorcycle or car where I would not been able to produce a recorded reading (by law) & certification.

Watch for the white square dots in the road. Usually 1/4 mile apart I think. Institute of Advanced Motorist training is based on the Roadcraft handbook. Well worth doing on a bike plus you get to meet a great bunch of riders and have an excuse to get out on your bike all year round.

Having been on training courses run by lock companies such as Chubb and Abus, I do not advise using combination locks, no matter how expensive, because they have fewer levers and can never be as secure as a keyed lock. As you've found, they're also more prone to failure.
Expensive combination locks are simply more strongly made - to resist brute force attacks - but their real weakness is the combination itself, which can be discovered if you know certain information about the make and model of the lock.
Can't say much more than that here or I'd be telling people how to break into your garage !

Talking about police training. I have noticed that, in France, for motorcycle police/Gendarmes, seem to like to take candidates with no motorcycle riding experience (for obvious reasons - no bad habits etc.). I used to watch, from an office window, the new intake falling off their motorcycles on their first day, go through their normal motorcycle training, taking their part 2 test, then on to Police motorcycle training. Fascinating to watch especially when you saw them towards the end of their course making progress through the traffic on the ring road having seen them drop their bikes on day one.
Fun fact, they are taught to shoot their personal firearm with their left hand, while riding, and have to pass a test (annually I believe) doing so 😮

To be fair I rode from Yorkshire to the ace Caffe in London and that's where it all went wrong haha. I got done by an average speed camera on a 4 lane road that I thought was faster than the 40mph that it actually is. Now a speed sign would have been a great help and I could have avoided the situation altogether. quick question based on the quote at the end of your video "Speedometers in private cars and motorcycles are not normally calibrated to evidential standards and in isolation cannot form the basis of a conviction for the specific offence of exceeding the speed limit in England and Wales"...
So does this mean if someone filmed my, ahem, sorry, themselves and the speedo is showing 85mph, they are otherwise driving/riding sensibly in accordance to the conditions etc (ie not weaving across lanes and generally being stupid), keeping up with "some" of the traffic also on that road, that if "someone else" got hold of that video footage, that footage alone wouldn't be enough to prosecute? Asking for a friend... 😁

A quick question if I may. I was caught leaving a N Yorkshire village doing 37 approximately 100m before the 40 sign by a traffic cop with a handheld radar, on my meteor 350 🫣. Never had a speeding ticket before and being of a certain age started to think that this would turn out to be a telling off only. Oh no! He stated that the radar device immediately sent my speed to a facility that logged it and there was nothing he could do. Apologies for the long explanation, but was that the case. Cheers. Tom

    • @frankspeakmore7104
      @frankspeakmore7104 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

They don't use radar anymore, they use laser hand held devices. They show speed and distance towards the device, speed and distance travelling away from the device which is displayed on the screen by a negative sign. These devices do not record vehicle index's as they have no facility to do so.

Was this person definitely a serving police officer, Tom? There is an ex police officer who rides a motorbike emblazoned with police markings but he's actually a civillian and works for the North Yorkshire camera partnership. He covers the whole district.
The reason I ask is because he stepped out, pulled over and rebuked a lady whom i know, when she skidded the car in front of him after panic braking.
He's not a serving police officer and shouldn't be pulling people over.

State of Ohio US used VASCAR from aircraft. They have large white paint block marks spaced out on the road way and then they would have chase down cars or motorcycles which the small plane would radio down the offending vehicle. And of course if the vehicle tried to make a run for it the aircraft is already there to track them down. 😎

Still do that in WI. I started with ground VASCAR, then the KR-10, moving units and the HR-8’s then, I got certified in LIDAR, the laser units before retiring. I hated working traffic because I had tickets when I was young. So I didn’t waste my time with anything less than 15 over, where people are going to get seriously hurt. For instance, going 60 in a 45 zone, you’re traveling at 88ft per second instead of 66ft per second. With an average 3/4 second reaction time, you’re not going to stop before collision. People don’t do the math anymore, and they get hurt, or hurt others. 😢

He is an expert though and as he always says lock picking by thieves is almost non existent, they are far more likely to use disc cutters. This is the reason I use Litelok X3 and X1 locks on my bikes. They can still be cut but the x1 takes five times as long using diamond cutting discs and requires 3 discs and the X3 takes 15 times as long taking 5 discs. They can still be cut but chances are the thieves will go elsewhere, they are motorcycle diamond rated. They are the highest rating you can buy.

I think nowadays trying to assess what speed limit applies to the road you are on is becoming harder and harder, you can’t rely on the old lampposts 100m apart as a true guide.
Like some of your other subscribers I do think the more diligent you are with the required paperwork, insurance etc then you are more likely to accept your punishment, pay the fine , do the course than these scroats without any paperwork.
