I really enjoy your work. I knew/know a few of the people you've recorded and it's good to see a detailed history of those days.

Good they're catching similar loads of crays now vs 60y ago. It takes 7 years for a cray to reach the legal minimum size limit.

“How productive was fishing in the 60’s 70’s & 80’s ? At long last we have the answer. Well done!

Terrific I really enjoyed going back in time. In Cape Town, S.A. snoek = Thyrsites atun (Euphrasén, 1791) called barracouta in Australia. In S.A. large sardine as bait with heavy lead and heavy hand line down to 50 m. Pulled on board held between the legs or under arm to snap neck. But the teeth can cause blood poisoning !!! In case of injury the snoek eye is taken out and rubbed on the wound as antiseptic.... how our forefathers worked that one out ???? Snoek are 70 to 200 cm long and are smoked in Hout Bay, with hundreds of cars lining up to buy the picnic feast with ocean view. Four years ago I caught on in Ulladulla Harbour, NSW off the pier. Delicious.

I caught juvenile snoek a couple of years ago in Nubeena Tas.There are no couta here now, fished out by trawlers bycatch, hosed off the deck.

Snoek are a different fish to coata, similar but different, first time I'd ever caught them.
