I prefer Stalker 2 because, it tries to be what it always was. Arcady FPS game with RPG elements. And it's fun actually, rather than Stalker Anomaly where developers wanted to get realism but it turned out to be frustrating, since you need to pay attention to crap loads of details, instead of playing and enjoying the game. Like your body damage, how to fix yourself properly, what gear to get in specific situations and stuff like that. But even then, all that in Anomaly applies only to player. NPCs on the other hand remain the same classic Stalker NPCs from the older gamers, and that breaks that entire system that developers of Stalker Anomaly created. So yeah, Stalker 2 is better because it is way too simply and thus way too fun. Yes, it is not a perfect game but so is the Stalker Anomaly. Thus why I don't play Stalker Anomaly because it is bloated with unnecessary stuff that makes game frustrating. At least from my perspective.
I think you may be confusing Stalker anomaly with gamma, gamma is stalker anomaly with 500+ mods added to it, vanilla stalker anomaly while still more complicated than the original triology is still fairly basic and most weird mechanics can be largely ignored, example that in base stalker anomaly you still have default healthbar, and a simple medkit will heal you normally, with the difference is that the medkit takes like 10 seconds to use and heals you slowly over time, and they added stimpacks instead which do smaller healing but its quick use and quick healing to use in fights

@@deathcold_longplaysua4846 The idea of fun is entirely subjective so I'm not going to argue about that. But for a lot of players, a huge draw to the Stalker series is the immersion that it brings. Making you _feel_ like you're an actual Stalker and that the Zone is a dangerous place. Anomoly and GAMMA push for a much more immersive experience. When I started playing GAMMA I tried to turn off a lot of the micro-managing systems but broke the mod so I just left them on, once I got over the learning curve, I could never go back to vanilla Stalker.
What about broken guns in S2 that jams the moment you start shooting but works perfect in hands of enemy NPCs? Same problem, same game design, but I don't see you complaining about it.

Hell, there are already mods for random items, mutant loot, and a fave of mine; pills, which totes makes hunger a real thing among other effects. So, yeah in a year or two I suspect S2 will be running something like GAMMA even if it isn’t Grox and his GAMMA.

It's no surprise that Stalker 2 is better in most of these areas but it's still very impressive what modders have been able to do with Anomaly even while being limited by an old engine. Both are good, but personally I prefer Stalker 2. It feels more like the original trilogy than the big modpacks, and I've always preferred the vanilla games over the mods.

The limb on AI stalker are just... increasing damage if that limb got shot multiple time. When that AI stalker takes enough damage he holster his gun and fell to the ground, in Anomaly he will have a chance to make a choice... beg for mercy or said Screw you. In Stalker 2 AI also have limb damage, it's kinda better. Bc most stalker wearing armor, if you can't aim the head (bc they have main character syndrome and wiggle every time you aim it) shoot the leg, if they took enough damage they also fell to the ground in critical state but they wont beg for mercy, they will only wake up to fight when they got help by friendly stalker.

I tryed GAMMA after S2 and it feels like trully S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in many aspects and there is no collision in the cabinet doors in S2 And I think stalker not needed stealth. in such abandoned places, the sounds of footsteps travel far and the possibility of sneaking up on NPCs makes them very, very dumb. But in some scenarios, stealth missions can look good. For example, one of the first missions in Lost Alpha to infiltrate the military at night
Definite buggy Thunderstorm there. Usually just flashes and mad atmosphere with the shadows shifting around. Also (unsure if this is the case with STALKER 2) but rain in Gamma starts to build up drops on your gas mask visor which obscures vision, and you can wipe it off with a hotkey to clear your vision again.
You didn't show the PDA properly! You didn't move with it. And despite liking 2, out of everything, the PDA was a huge disappointment. At least the character still pulls the PDA out instead of a menu just opening, but the coolest thing ever was how you could lower the PDA in Gamma and Anomaly, walking around with it still in your hands at the bottom of the screen. Real-time GPS map, mission information, the Zone-Chat, MP3 player. Whatever you wanted, in your hands as you move, and when you looked down, the character would tilt the PDA up a bit for better viewing. It was amazing.
feels like you could've dived bit deeper into both games mechanics, gameplay loop etc. more espacially that AI fight was just a clusterfuck with the player just spawning big groups right next to each other. would've been better to use smaller groups with possible flank routes or player showing themself while occasionally using ghost noclip to see how AI are reacting to the players movement. BUT that would make the video at least 1 hour long and take a long time to make requiring you to know and have played both games externsively so ı understand.
I really apprecciate any modmaker and their passion, but most of the fanbase usually forget about one crucial detail: you can't hire a man into a Dev. team who never worked with X-ray engine. And GSC were starting a studio from scratch. Basically, it was easier to find an UE experts, than seeking those modmakers.

GAMMAs A.I is insanely good I feel like Stalker 2s A.I is a let down even compared to its predecessors and its not even close to GAMMA. I do like the "crouch dodge" move the A.I does when they engage you tho, that caught me off guard a few times. I originally started playing GAMMA because I wanted just more Stalker stuff but I found myself enjoying the hardcore mechanics of GAMMA a lot more than Stalkers more "arcade" style. When playing Stalker 2 I often have to remind myself that this is not GAMMA and is not trying to be GAMMA either because I am just spoiled by how polished and fun GAMMA is.
I love both. GAMMA was the 1st STALKER game I played. So amazing what all the modders did with that game, and for free. There's so much more to that game than STALKER 2. Hopefully the modders do the same with 2. I really liked the complication of GAMMA. Finally getting all the parts to a gun fully repaired. It seemed more rewarding. 2 is a walk in the park in comparison.
GAMMA isn't STALKER though. I understand it's based on STALKER but it's not even remotely accurate to the experience the original trilogy was trying to bring. GAMMA is basically a re-imagining based on what the fanbase and modders wanted. Hopefully you've played the originals by now.

However Stalker Anomaly and its modpacks like GAMMA, EFP, Dark Signal etc. they are sandboxes not games with set protaganist with a start and an end. They are entirely made with A-life in mind and turn the gameplay look something akin to Kenshi or Mount and Blade. There is this world you can interact with in sandbox style instead of predetermined cutscenes or anything.

I am loving the hell out of Stalker 2 despite many disappointments. But GAMMA lowkey ruined the series for me. Correct way to say it would be: they had over 1000 people from modding community and 14 years of constant trials and errors in modding evolution. What GSC did in S2 took them merely 2-3 years top.

Indeed! russians did nothing to show support of the war but also did nothing to prevent it. And forget about 11 years of war in Ukraine. russia invaded Georgia, Chechnya, Afghanistan, and so on. Of course when russia did that, no one was patting russian leaders on the back, but with every war, every generation was silently supporting it.
