Very cool! What I wouldn't give to go back to the 80's.
me too.
I totally remember the Static Guard commercials. My sister and I used to imitate those so many times. I miss the 80s!
Videos like this just make me wish I had a time machine.
I just watched part 1 now this, I could do this all day matter fact I will. This is that time machine I always wished I had...
My parents drank Sanka and it was served at most of the local restaurants in NEPA. Thanks for posting!
The girl in the Suave commercial is Kim Alexis and yes, that's Mary Frann w/Robert Young.
I used to work at Stop 'n Shop in high school.
the wonderful and colorful era of the '80s! 😉
I'd give anything to go back to these days of my innocent youth!
me too
oh my gosh! I could sing the whole KIX commercial 30 years later!
I remember the Quaker Corn Bran ad! The scarecrow in that spot is a cross between Ray Bolger's scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz", and "Rooney Doodle" {"THE DOODLEBOPS"}.
5:22- TV GUIDE cover {May 2-8, 1981}. Taylor Grant, announcer
Excellent vintage TV commercials !
these commercials actually made me want to buy things...
cool.
Jayna A the 80s were so youngin'
We spy Static Guard! Thanks for sharing these awesome vintage videos!
my entire childhood in 10 minutes!
That's Robert Young on the Sanka commercial, good actor, May He Rest Peacefully
Those news casts are gold
Looks like the late Mary Frann with Robert Young in the Sanka ad. The babe in the Suave shampoo ad looks familiar but I don't remember her name. The cute girl that sneaks up on the guy next to the tree in that Arrid ad is Jayne Modean. And that Stouffer's jingle is sung by a guy who was all over the place in TV jingles, but I never knew his name either. Larry Santos sings that Whirpool jingle, I believe.
I soooo miss those days...all commercials told a story or had a song or jingle...and around Christmas it was the best...I love the new Little Ceaser's ads, because they are kind of retro, and so is that one with the muppets in it. Most commercials today just don't have the charm all those did. =W=
+Tonya Manning you got that right where did the time go man i feel old : (
yes so true.. most things of today dont have the charm of things of yesteryear..
Honestly, most commercials still were annoying but at least they weren't totally repellant like 99% of them today. You'd listen to hear one that was funny or entertaining. Although I remember even in the 70s visiting my grandparents and my grandpa had made a home made "mute" system with wires so that he could mute the sound of commercials without getting up lol. This was way before remote controls (or at least we were not well off enough to have one yet). So, people were annoyed by ads in those days too, but nothing like today. 99% of them make me want to NOT buy the product now rather than buy it.
Another vintage commercial lover here. Thanks for sharing these! It's a wonderful time capsule of the decade! :)
I don't know where else to put this, but since this had Boston channels: Does any one else who was in the New England/Boston area remember a late-80's commercial for Fox 25 (I believe shortly after moving from channel 56) where the jingle was about Fox 25 being where "all of the Celtic's games comes alive"? The ending was "We're back! And we're going for seventeen*. And we're going for number seventeen!" (or another three-syllabled number ending with an "ee" sound. Twenty-three?)
This one jingle - which couldn't have ran for that long - is emblazoned into my memory so vividly. Super effective advertising, I guess.
People on commercials were actually good looking back then.
***** no it.s the food. They are poisoning us now. I.ve been talking about it for years. Even the junk food back then was still real food. When u eat today's food you accumulate toxic waste. and feel like sht.. And look at everybody.s skin back then. Firm, clear bright. It.s just from eating real food. Which again was everywhere. 90.s is when the food really started going downhill. Now it.s almost impossible. Even organic has only 1/5 the of the nutrients. Our soil is so depleted too.
***** Amen to that brother
wow!! RD SAHL the news anchor!!!! lol, after this channel he went to ch-7 then he went to NECN( new england cable news) and i think he finally retired like 5 years ago!! i grew up in SALEM MASS so i am loving these bits and pieces of the old news broadcasts!!! by the way i think he was about to talk about how flutie finally went to the NFL, like 87? after being in the CFL for like 4 years!! to funny!! window in time!!! thanx again for the memories!!!
Hard to believe that the federal minimum wage back then was $3.35, and 30 years later it's only $7.25. Barely doubled.
30 years before that a soda was a nickel and beer was a quarter.
1980's was the last good decade in USA for the middle class - lower middle class.
Camilla Carr came to Baltimore in 1987 and was an anchor. She is now founder of Carr Communications in Baltimore...
80s television was surreal...God
The Good Old Days!!
Felecia Grasty Indeed!!
Felecia Grasty I miss em so much it makes me cry lol I still like to think I live in the 80s.
Sue Ellen Davis I cry too. I'm 41. The 80's sure were special. My parents are dead and this video really brought back a lot of fond memories. When I think of the 80's and my mom and dad at some point I always cry.
The lady in the mop and glo commercial is the actress who played Susan Moore in General Hospital
Brandy Barnett I remember Susan Moore, but back in the day I was crushing on Heather the evil vixen, not cos she was the bad girl but cos, weeeeellllll, she was a ravishing blonde. I was a weird kid back then.
Man. Takes me back big time. Now on to Chicago commercials.
In a very strange way, even with thousands of nukes aimed at us, we were all safer back then
The girl in the Suave commercial is Kim Alexis and yes, that's Mary Frann w/Robert Young.
sad that I can remember most of these commercials, but people's names I just met I forget.
I can remember SCTV doing a parody of the Swanson Hungry Man TV dinners, which they were called Big Dude. Holy Moly, they were *oversized*!
I remember that tv special about the body
That girl's hair at 4:10 was soo pretty!
These are nice, a lot of the late '70s, early '80s aesthetic here. I don't like commercials after the mid to late 80s or so, they stopped "looking" good and being produced as well.
I've a hunch that's Richie Havens singing the lead in that Whirlpool commercial. No mistaking that voice!
The Whirlpool jingle is a masterpiece. Last fall, I heard from a vocalist who performed in it. (See below.) I have been unable to reply to her because her TH-cam account is set up to receive messages only from people in her address book.
>> I was the female background singer on the spot. I sang and doubled all vocals-Soprano, Alto, Contralto, and Larry Santos sang leads.
VintageTelevision I'm Dan yessian. I don't remember you. Fill me in
Kim Alexis..... the Suave shampoo girl, looks like Kate Upton, identical.
Way to end this montage than with a legendary news voice over, in his way early days. Perfect ending.
Thanks jaxgal618.. I was wondering who the girl in the Suave commercial was. Wow
Wow min wage only went up $5.00 since then!
I remember these like it was yesterday.. Lol
Anybody up for a new adventure with some kids from 1985!?
8:54- Eve Arden as "Miss Morrow" (a distant relative of "Connie Brooks")
If you take two sides of the same song it equals ten different sounds.
6:53 ... Blondie and coming of age
Wow hungry man dinners been out awhile I didn't remember these being out then but then my family mostly cooked if we didn't go to Mcd./Bk!
What is the name of that song for "the body human?"
"Heart of Glass" by Blondie.
"Heart of Glass" by Blondie
Can't think of who that girl is in the Mop 'n Glo commercial. I know she was on a regular TV show at one time. Does anyone know ??
