Always loved Vinod Dua for his Hindi flair and style of presentation. Great interview! Yea, regarding that point on Politicians getting angry and demanding Salutations - IF India is really a DEMOCRACY, one most important element of it is that there are no salutations where everybody is equal under LAW which is why in the West the Clerk addresses his CEO with 'Hi Harry!' something unimaginable in the 'Kingdom of India'....As for Kingdom features, we may have uprooted Royal addresses but cannot resist making Kings out of even the smallest Bosses with Honors accorded, such as 'Sir-Ji/ Maydum-Ji/ ...Ji Sarkar......

You could spend an evening with a friend who drove an autorickshaw and at the same time wine and dine with the richer denizens of Lutyens Delhi - this shows that you were a multi-faceted personality. Decades of quality journalism and love for food & drinks - I am certain you lived an excellent life - "Bohot umda" :')

Great. My initial thoughts were its a discussion not a interview between 2 senior so knowledgeable, strong minded journalists. So much experience shared that it was actually a training session for me in journalism. Vinod sir and Madhu madam are 2 walking school of journalism. My salute to them

This interview is a mix of English diction and vocab; journalism and behaviorism - female boss shouting on team and being OK with it r being shouted at back and male not being OK with any sort of shouting at work; Culture over the decades; drunken messaging and accepting and regretting; and in the end, peacefully end the debate/ discussion with a melodious song!!! My God!! there's so much to take away from this 30-odd minutes!! Kudos to Late Mr Dua and Ms Trehan !!

Vinod Dua is one person I greatly admire for his compering and presentation skills. Even in this interview he didn't fail me. One of my first recollections of him was faithfully yet succintly summarizing the election tally analysis by Prannoy Roy. He went on to do some of his own shows. In all those shows I could only marvel at the silent yet firm way in which he made his points.
But I fail to understand why the likes of him haven't made any headway in the national scene.

Vinod dua is a pretty articulate person who seems to remain independent & that's what Indian media houses need now unlike the gibberish shouting that's going on in much of main stream Indian news channels.

And he is gone now, just a week or so ago. RIP, Vinod ji. 🙏 I loved how this was almost a conversation between colleagues; Madhu ji is also fun to listen to. The amusing Delhiite-like exchange at 25:40 was simply amaze. 😆

With all due respect to Madhu Trehan, she is painful to watch as an interviewer. She is not exactly interviewing at all - she is conducting a conversation and that too, not very effectively. For example, she asks one question, then interjects and asks a second one while the interviewee is barely through the first sentence of the answer to the first question! I remember her interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, where she interrupted him while he was just about to starting with 'an interesting incident...' and we never got to hear that.
+Saatwik Katiha Madhu-ji is a great journalist. I wonder if you even belong to today's generation? I think you belong to 80's and 90's when interviewers would let their guest filibuster. I wonder if you even know what 'filibuster' is? Vinod Dua, to the best of my guess, showed up for this interview because he'd got a personal connection with Madhu-ji. And she's more like in a discussion mode as she's also divulging. What's your problem Katiha??

(b) Just for the record, your usage of the word 'filibuster' here is patently flawed as there is no legislative or parliamentary context to this discussion - it's obvious that you have a rich knowledge of English words, but it'd help if you learnt to use them correctly as well. (c) There's a significant distinction between letting your interviewee meander (as was the case in your 80s and 90s, supposedly - you seem to be more experienced with regard to those decades) and cutting the interviewee off when she or he is expounding upon an interesting topic. Madhu Trehan is often guilty of the latter. (d) There is no doubting her journalistic capabilities, but a good journalist does not necessarily make a good interviewer.

Its 3am and i truly am saying i didn't skip a second of it. Seriously i got so interested in the conversation that i didn't realize i watched 36 minutes of video which i never did as news or debate or conversation. Why the news channel doesn't air these, i mean this is entertaining too. Hope dua ji succeeds to tv with this kind of involvement in the tv. Respect dua sir.
