to catch another person in the act of breaking rules does not justify your breaking rules, I am glad you caught that cab driver and handed him over to the police so that he wouldn't pose a danger to others. This is just my point of view.
It's actually not illegal there is no law stopping lane splitting but there isn't any supporting it either I understand how it can be frustrating to car drivers that's why I refrain from doing it myself but that's just my personal preference
